Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The rise of the black hero
The realization struck hard power alone wasn't enough. To truly make a difference and grow stronger, I needed more than just raw strength. I needed authority, something that would make people listen and follow me.
"But who would ever take a 15-year-old boy seriously"?
As I walked down the busy streets, lost in thought, my eyes caught something intriguing a small mask shop nestled between two bustling stores. A strange sense of curiosity pulled me toward it.
"This might be the answer," I muttered as I stepped inside.
The shop smelled of old leather and mystery, its shelves packed with masks of all shapes and colors. My eyes immediately fell on a demon-shaped black mask with intricate patterns carved into its surface. It exuded an aura of fear and command, perfect for what I had in mind.
"This suits me," I said, picking it up and feeling its weight in my hands. The dark, glossy finish reflected just enough light to hint at its menacing design.
Once I bought the mask, I infused it with Void energy. As the energy seeped into the mask, it absorbed the power effortlessly, forming a faint, almost invisible shimmer. No ordinary eye would recognize me now not even those who used advanced technology.
"Status Window" he muttered and a black screen appeared in front of him.

The First Hunt
With my mask concealing my identity, I decided to put my plan into action. The country was plagued with problems, including increasing monster outbreaks and gates threatening the lives of thousands.
[Goblin Cave]
As Adrien stepped into the gate, the chilling atmosphere wrapped around him.
[Goblin Cave]
Required level: Level 1-3
Party cap: 6
Difficulty: Normal
Clear requirement: Clear all enemies and defeat the boss.
The surroundings were pitch black, yet Adrien smirked. "Darkness? This cannot hinder my sight."
He gathered Void energy in his eyes.
[Void's Eye]
Your eyesight is enhanced, allowing you to see in the dark.
The cave lit up in shades of black and gray, revealing Goblin Archers hidden in the shadows.
Suddenly, an arrow zipped through the air.
"Whoosh! Thud!"
Adrien sidestepped, and the arrow buried itself in the ground.
"Ah," he muttered, watching the smirking Goblin Archers. "So they attack when their prey is still adjusting to the darkness. How typical."
The archers nocked more arrows, their tips gleaming with poison.
"Thwang! Whoosh!"
Adrien whispered, "Void Step."
In an instant, he vanished.
The Goblins looked around frantically, their guttural noises filled with panic.
"Hik! Hik!"
Appearing behind them, Adrien swung his hand in a fluid motion. A Goblin's head fell, followed by another.
"Void Arrows!"
Ten black arrows materialized, hovering in the air before launching at the remaining Goblins.
"Whoosh!"
The arrows pierced through the Goblins with deadly precision.
[You have leveled up!]
> Level 4
Adrien moved deeper into the cave, dispatching Goblins with ease. They were numerous but weak.
Suddenly, a large Goblin wielding a massive battle axe lunged at him.
"Clang! Clang!"
Adrien parried the wild swings with a crude sword he had picked up from a Goblin.
[Item Acquired]
(Goblin Stone Sword)

Agility +1
The Goblin Chieftain roared, swinging its axe with reckless fury. Adrien dodged with minimal movements, his calm demeanor unshaken.
"A monster is still a monster," he said coldly. "No amount of brute strength will make up for lack of skill."
With a swift motion, Adrien decapitated the Chieftain.

Just as Adrien was about to relax, the system's voice echoed in his mind:
"Someone is interested in your power."
"You have triggered a hidden quest."
[Hidden Quest: Defeat the Hidden Boss]
Adrien frowned. "What now?"
A sinister laugh echoed through the cave.
"Kekeke!"
From the shadows emerged a robed Goblin holding a staff. Its eyes glowed with intelligence.
"Human! I want your power. Give it to me, and I shall turn your body into my greatest experiment!"
Adrien smirked. "An intelligent monster? This just got interesting."
The Goblin Shaman raised its staff, summoning dark orbs that shot toward Adrien.
"Bang! Boom!"
Adrien dodged with grace, his movements like a shadow.
"This is getting annoying," Adrien muttered. "Why don't you just die already?"
He gathered Void energy into his blade. "Void Splitter!"
The Shaman raised a shimmering barrier. "Mana Shield!"
It cackled, confident in its protection.
But Adrien smirked. The Void could nullify all magic.
The Mana Shield shattered instantly, and Adrien's blade cleaved through the Shaman.
"Ahhh! Ahhh!"
The Shaman let out a final scream before collapsing.
He walks towards the body of the shaman and touch it.
"Stats Absorption!"
"Your absorbing it's superior stats "
"Succesful"
"You gain 36.8 in your magic power"

Adrien raised an eyebrow.
"Due to your skill, Spear God, you can bypass the usage requirements."
The spear shimmered as Adrien gripped it.
"You have equipped the General's Spear."
He twirled the weapon experimentally, feeling its weight and balance.
"This will do nicely," he said, a faint smile on his lips as he left the cave, ready for the challenges ahead.
The Birth of Black
News spread like wildfire. The story of a lone, masked figure who single-handedly cleared a gate that even seasoned hunters feared became the talk of the nation.
"No one knew my name or face; all they saw was the dark figure emerging victorious".
"They began to call me "Black" a name inspired by the shadowy mask I wore and the aura of mystery that surrounded me."
At first, I didn't pay much attention to it. A nickname was just that a label. But as days turned to weeks and more gates fell under my blade, the name grew. It became a symbol, whispered in the fearful conversations of the weak and in the hopeful prayers of the desperate.
"Black," they would say. The hero who shielded the Philippines from destruction.
"Despite my young age, I had become a beacon of hope. It was strange at first, hearing people call me by a name I hadn't chosen, but behind the mask, I couldn't help but smile. The name resonated with me. It wasn't just a title, it was my armor, my shield, and my identity."
Each victory brought me closer to my goals. I didn't stop at the average, normal or intermediate difficulty gates. I pushed myself further, seeking greater challenges. With every battle, my skills sharpened, my connection to the Void deepened, and my name soared higher.
I fought not for fame but to grow stronger. I knew the truth about power: it wasn't something you demanded, it was given by those who believed in you. With each life I saved, the people entrusted me with their hope and faith. Behind the mask, I was no longer just a boy.
I was their hero. Their protector. Their hope.
But I knew this was only the beginning. The gates I cleared were just stepping stones. Stronger monsters, darker threats, and unimaginable horrors loomed beyond the horizon.
