The Villainous Young Master’s Life in Another World

chapter 1

1

Good people teach you morals, villains teach you life.

Without demons, there are no Buddhas. The world needs heroes, but! I would rather be a martyr who bears destruction.

To survive better, whether humble or strong. I will rely on everything I can depend on, even if in the end my body is covered with scars, my will shall lead me to break through the encirclement.

Beep beep beep

“What’s going on? The server stopped just after the beta test…”

“Honorable fake beep”

“You beep your sister! What’s this honorable fake beep?”

“Although I haven’t played it myself, I think this game is probably just so-so; otherwise why would it be abandoned?”

“If you can’t speak properly then don’t talk at all; what a shill. you dare to speak without playing.”

“Ah, say that again if you dare. I’ll show you why flowers are so red.”

“Heh heh. My mom always tells me not to talk to people from Zaun.”

“F*** your mother*******”

In a room of several dozen square meters, a young man earnestly browsed through comments about the fantasy continent on his computer and wanted to add his thoughts between two ranters by playing peacemaker.

“Enough already. Stop yelling. We’re in a civilized society now; let’s not ruin the online environment like fishwives hurling insults.”

“And who are you? A sanctimonious fool****”

Another netizen unwilling to back down retorted at Gu Ming,

“Dare to send your address. see if I won’t follow the cables right up to your house.”

Watching the insults hurled at him on the screen, Gu Ming found it amusing and grabbed a Coke from the table, taking a big gulp before clattering away at his keyboard.

“Hey, I’ve really shown you too much patience with my temper, ************”

The netizen continued to mock:

“Send your address if you dare; let’s see if I don’t knife you then.”

Gu Ming couldn’t help but laugh as he replied:

“Syr battlefield. The one in green clothes wearing a hat. that’s me. Come find me if you dare, you weakling.”

From the other side of the internet:

“Heh, kid, just you wait.”

Gu Yuan looked at this exchange with disdain and mocked:

“If you’re brave enough then come; otherwise, you’re just a coward.”

In the room, sounds of incoming messages from the computer continued to beep. Gu Ming paid them no mind.

Even after shutting down his computer, Gu Ming kept cursing nonstop.

“Idiot. do they think I’m easily scared?”

He completely disregarded what was said online and hummed a tune as he walked over to his dining table.

“Mmm… instant noodles with green onions and some ginger. Add in some soda. burp! Refreshingly satisfying!”

They had been discussing a game called “Fantasy Continent,” primarily featuring swords and magic where players could immerse themselves using professional VR equipment experiencing various roles (warrior, mage, archer, thief. even as king of an entire nation).

This game appeared out of nowhere and quickly became popular worldwide upon its release beloved by players from all countries.

Yet no one knew who owned or produced it. the company was as mysterious as puzzles within the game itself.

A few months after its successful launch however unexpectedly went offline causing polarized reviews online

Gu Ming also thought that such abrupt discontinuation was ridiculous but those who had enjoyed it dearly hoped for its revival. Those who played knew not only was it fun but also came with free VR equipment delivered home. and even more astonishingly official gameplay would pay money which is simply everyone’s dream game.

As one of them, Gu Ming naturally fell into the category of being a fan, and couldn’t help but speak up when he saw someone criticizing it.

As for why there were critics, it had to do with the game accounts. Not everyone had one; even the number distributed by the official sources was unclear.

Why only a select few received these accounts was unknown, but one thing was clear to everyone: as long as there was a game, there would be operations behind it.

This also explained why netizens fawned over this particular game.

If you teach someone’s boss how to run their business online, do you think you’d get an account? On the other hand, if you butter them up enough and their boss happens to be in a good mood… well. Believe it or not, some have actually succeeded. there was even someone who made the news and caused quite a stir online.

But am I, Gu Ming, someone who would abandon his dignity over a game account? Of course not.

And why not? Since childhood I’ve adhered to principles that wealth should not corrupt us nor should obscurity… ahem. Getting off track here. Just because others don’t have something doesn’t mean I. the ‘despicable foreigner’. don’t either.

Of course if you want to know why I still receive an income from having an account now. I’m definitely not going to tell you that.

What’s that? You’re begging me to reveal my identity? Alright then. Let me be clear. I’m really not bragging here; just stating facts.

I’ll let you in on a little secret: actually Dream Tear Wound and I are like brothers along with Big Immortal. they all hang out with me for tea every day. Keeping up with them keeps me so busy! All this isn’t much; what’s important is what comes next. the only man across all servers who has conquered Demon King City is none other than me. the ‘despicable foreigner’.

Anyone who has played through Demon King City on Fantasy Continent knows its hellish difficulty level. a feat deemed impossible by many. and yes. it was indeed accomplished by me! Impressive right?

After slurping some noodles contentedly while browsing ‘The Seven Cats Novel’ on his phone…

As for why he felt so pleased. well. that sense of superiority knowing he possessed something no one else in the world did. it’s something beyond your grasp…

Bang bang bang. the sound of knocking at the door

With noodles still dangling from his mouth Gu Ming got up shouting,

At this moment, a deep male voice came from the silk stockings.

“I found a despicable outsider to fight in syr.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Yuan’s expression stiffened instantly, his eyelids couldn’t help but twitch crazily. Standing in place, he felt like his CPU was about to crash.

“Oh my god, isn’t that my username? But in this situation, it’s obvious that I can’t tell the truth. To be honest, if I do, I’ll definitely be sacrificed.”

Gu Yuan swallowed a mouthful of saliva and forced himself to reply calmly.

“I’m not-“

“???”

The silk stocking man was stunned by Gu Ming’s response. He didn’t expect anyone to be so honest at this point and immediately revealed an evil smile.

Seeing the hint of mockery at the corner of the silk stocking man’s mouth, Gu Ming slowly realized what foolish thing he had just done and scrambled to remedy it.

“I am a despicable outsider… no wait… I’m not a despicable outsider. Ahh! What should I say? How can I fix-“

The silk stocking man slowly reached for his waist without panic and smiled as he spoke,

“I should say that I don’t know any despicable outsiders right?”

Gu Yuan quickly nodded in agreement,

“Yes yes yes! That’s what I meant to say!”

Suddenly Gu Ming felt a pain in his abdomen. Following the silk stocking man’s hand down, he saw that there was now a knife on his stomach without him realizing it.

The silk stocking man chuckled as he spoke,

“Kid, be more careful next life. Don’t act like a saint online; it’s really disgusting.”

With those words, the knife stabbed back and forth several times until even the handle turned red before stopping.

With a bang sound, Gu Ming fell to the ground unable to get up. Seeing this, the silk stocking man left without looking back.

On the floor lay Gu Ming feeling his vision slowly blur. He knew deep down that it was due to excessive blood loss and couldn’t help but curse under his breath.

“Damn, it was you all along, shooting the breeze with the heavens. Was it really necessary to come after me just because I said a few words? Why not confront those who argue back? Are you out of your mind? When did I ever play the saint? Come back and explain yourself; what a curse! Is it wrong that I wanted to feel a bit superior for once? Damn, such rotten luck. There are still several gigs on my computer I haven’t finished watching. Goodbye dear teachers, if there is another life for me, I will definitely finish reviewing all the materials. Cough cough.”

After spitting out a mouthful of fresh blood, Gu Ming slowly closed his eyes in grief.

“Dad, Mom, I’m coming to see you.”

With Gu Ming’s final cry of despair, his breathing gradually ceased.

The next day, an urgent news broadcast reported:

“Breaking News: A murder occurred in a certain residential area; single homeowner stabbed multiple times. Is this a twist of human nature or a fall from morality?”

Elsewhere as Gu Ming died, his soul arrived at an endlessly white place shrouded in mist where atop stood a golden throne occupied by an imposingly beautiful woman looking every bit the supreme queen.

For a moment Gu Ming was stunned until she descended from her throne which snapped him back to reality.

Approaching her he noticed she wore semi-rimmed glasses that added an intellectual charm to her appearance.

“Hello there,” she greeted him warmly yet commandingly. “You are the only one who has conquered Demon King’s Castle. Now I offer you rebirth into the fantasy continent as part of the hero’s party to save this world together. do you accept?”

Gu Ming perked up immediately; back in his old world he had been nothing but exploited by capitalists and barely scraping through university on insufficient funds like living dead each day.

Now faced with such an opportunity he had only one choice:

“I am willing. no please ensure that I go!”

Gu Ming spread his arms wide ready to embrace his perfect new life in another world.

“Come then,” said the goddess slightly taken aback by his enthusiastic consent which rendered some planned persuasions unnecessary; she touched her mouth easing off some awkwardness before adding,

“Cough cough… don’t rush though sit down first. we have mutual choices here and before sending you off we need to ask about your affairs just so we can confirm whether your character and abilities are suited for this task.”

Still dazed from dreaming so vividly about what lay

“Oh, I see. Go ahead and ask,”

She extended her right hand, drawing a circle in the air with her finger. From it, she summoned a small angel with wings and glasses just like hers. The angel held an object resembling a bell. With a flick of its wrist, the bell floated between Gu Ming and the goddess.

“Then I’ll start asking,”

“Okay.”

“Name, occupation, hobbies?”

“Gu Ming, student, my hobby is esports gaming.”

The bell suddenly rang out once. The goddess frowned slightly as she looked at him and spoke to the little angel beside her.

“A despicable foreigner forging his own experiences…”

The little angel summoned a pure white book and began writing vigorously on it; Gu Ming was startled by the sound.

“Why did it ring? It rings when someone passes through?”

The goddess looked at him.

“Mr. Gu, this is a serious matter; please treat it as such.”

Gu Ming retorted,

“Wait a minute; I didn’t lie though.”

The bell rang again.

As the goddess continued to gaze at him. making Gu Ming feel somewhat guilty. she slowly began to speak with slightly furrowed brows,

“Our lie detector cannot be wrong; please tell the truth.”

Gu Yuan racked his brain as he thought about it,

“Ah!”

He seemed to suddenly realize something; his expression turned frantic as he slowly said,

“Gu Ming, a student by profession, lives a shut-in life every day, willingly degenerating into a worthless person. His interests include esports and watching foreign films.”

The goddess noticed the bell didn’t ring and knew he was telling the truth this time. She looked at him speechlessly and said, “Why insist on lying just to save face?”

At that moment, Gu Ming felt like crying his heart out from the pain. intense pain.

“I really wasn’t trying to save face. Enough already, let’s not talk about it anymore.”

“How annoying this prop truly is,” he cursed under his breath.

The goddess continued emotionlessly, “Why do you want to be a hero’s companion?”

Without hesitation, Gu Yuan replied, “I want to be a hero who saves the world and rescues people from disaster.”

The bell rang again.

“Ulterior motive noted,” remarked the little angel as she diligently took notes.

Looking at him helplessly, the goddess said, “Mr. Gu please tell the truth; otherwise it will be difficult for me.”

Gu Ming deflated instantly and responded with a numb expression like a robot:

“Being a hero’s companion seems cool. Aren’t heroes usually kind of foolish? If I could wedge into his harem somehow wouldn’t I then be surrounded by beautiful girls? And since he’s called ‘hero,’ doesn’t that mean he’s very strong? Fighting against demon armies or whatever. I could just coast along behind him.”

After finishing his explanation Gu Ming silently shed some shameful tears.

The goddess’s expression grew stern as she said:

“You really are despicable.”

Gu Ming no longer retorted, only lowering his head even further.

The goddess took one last look at Gu Ming’s profile.

“Mr. Gu, you should understand your final outcome now,” she said.

Gu Ming nodded in acknowledgment, fully aware of what she meant.

“Then I can only say I’m sorry, Mr. Gu. The path of reincarnation is not meant for you this time. I hope you find a better life in the city. Goodbye, scum.”

Gu Yuan wanted to make amends, but the goddess merely scoffed with a mocking laugh and shook her head slightly before opening a portal to send him away.

As Gu Yuan approached the portal with his head hung low, suddenly a woman’s laughter echoed in his mind:

“Ha ha! Hey boy, I like you. Since the protagonist’s camp doesn’t welcome you, why not try joining our villain camp?”

Eager to avoid another life enslaved by capitalists, Gu Yuan replied loudly without hesitation:

“I would be delighted. no. please do take me!”

The voice in Gu Ming’s mind laughed even more joyously upon hearing his immediate response:

“Ha ha! Although you are somewhat… I don’t dislike it. As my first envoy and to ensure your survival in that world, let me give you something good; explore well.”

With a snap of fingers,

A magical circle appeared beneath Gu Ming’s feet and he transformed into a beam of light soaring into the sky…

The bespectacled goddess stared at where Gu Ming had disappeared and was momentarily stunned but quickly recovered and shouted around her,

“What are you doing?”

A goddess dressed in a long black gown emerged looking exceptionally handsome.

“Isn’t it obvious? If you won’t take him then I will,” she declared.

The bespectacled goddess seemed very disdainful of her actions.

“He won’t achieve much, even if you waste your divine power on him. He couldn’t possibly defeat our angels. Not to mention the angels, it’s uncertain if he can even survive the heroes,” she said with a dismissive tone.

The woman in the black dress simply smiled indifferently at her words.

“Oh, is that so? But I remember he was someone who cleared our Demon King’s castle. What if… The struggle for the fate of the world is not yet decided; you’re popping champagne at halftime, be careful not to cry from too much joy.”

The Goddess of Eyes laughed as if she had heard a great joke.

“There are no ‘what ifs’. There’s a saying in the human world: games don’t reflect reality. Let’s just wait and see whether I can have the last laugh, haha.”

As a mist drifted by, her figure became ethereal and gradually vanished on the spot.

The woman in black looked towards where Gu Ming was headed and silently thought to herself,

“Don’t disappoint me, boy.”

She then disappeared in the opposite direction of where the Goddess of Eyes had gone. If Gu Ming were looking down from above at this place right now, he would notice that there were two colors in the mist. black and white. with white being predominant. It was hard to detect unless one got close to where black dominated.
