The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 256: I’m Glad

Dungeon practicals are a mandatory course primarily focused on students from the academy, where adventurers guide them to gain combat skills and real-world experience in dungeons, conducted as a joint session of multiple classes.

The sessions last for four days per group, with a total timeframe planned for about half a month.

When diving into the dungeon, groups are randomized into A to D groups every four days, so after group A finishes, group B will go in, and so forth.

By the way, the group you belong to is determined randomly, but S-class generally takes priority, with groups from A to D mixed in as a common practice.

In our group, which is in group A, along with Fiera and others, there were also several classes mixed in, including Shudo’s group.

(It feels like someone set this up on purpose.)

I had thought this in my past life as well, but the fact that Iris, Sonia, Shuvina, Shudo, and I are all in the same group on the same day makes it feel like someone is pulling strings behind the scenes.

“Alright! The people standing in front of you are the adventurers who will be guiding you this time! Everyone is strong, so don’t worry!”

As Lime gave her brief introduction, I looked toward the adventurers lined up in front of us—around twenty familiar faces, all of whom were indeed skilled.

“Huh? Is that…?”

Among them, I noticed an adventurer party that shouldn’t have been here in my previous life, but I somewhat recognized them from this world.

“Lord Lewis, is something wrong?”

“No, just an acquaintance.”

“I see, so you know some of them.”

Iris quickly picked up on my reaction and asked what was the matter, and when I mentioned my acquaintance, she nodded understandingly.

“Now, let me briefly explain what’s going to happen next. Each group will be assigned two adventurers. Since today is the first day, the goal is to reach the third floor. You might think, ‘Just the third floor?’ But the inside is very wide, and monsters will appear, so just finding the path to the lower floors could be quite challenging. There’s even a chance you may not make it to the third floor, so don’t let your guard down.”

As Lime said, even though the monsters on the shallow layers of the “Morning Star” dungeon are weak, the layout is quite expansive, making it time-consuming just to find the path to the next lower floor.

Therefore, initially, it’s important for the adventurers to record paths effectively and maintain their patience, which are essential skills for navigating a dungeon.

“Basically, when progressing through the dungeon, you’ll rely on your own strength, but if you get lost or let your guard down and a monster attacks from behind, the adventurers will help you out, so you can relax. However, that doesn’t mean you can just rely on them completely. They’ve been instructed not to worry about minor injuries ahead of time, so unless it’s life-threatening, don’t expect them to intervene.”

Also, if there’s any knowledge or fighting techniques you need as adventurers, or any dungeon-related questions, feel free to ask. That way, you’ll gain a lot from the experience. Asking questions isn’t embarrassing; it’s far better than dying without knowing—so don’t hesitate to ask if anything’s on your mind!

The role of the guiding adventurers can be broadly divided into three categories.

First, they assist in life-threatening situations. This is for cases where there are serious attacks or abnormalities occur in the dungeon that the students cannot handle.

There are still many parts of the dungeon that remain unexplained, and it’s possible for strong monsters that shouldn’t be in a certain layer, or groups of monsters from different species, to swarm and attack, creating emergencies that they need to address to protect the students.

The second role is to guide students if they get lost. As mentioned, the dungeon’s layout is vast and complex.

Every year, several students get lost, and without a guide, they could end up wandering for days, so guidance is necessary to prevent that.

The third role is to provide learning opportunities for students, which means answering questions posed by them.

However, there’s a rule that nothing will be taught unless they ask questions, and adventurers will only answer questions. Students must navigate and explore the dungeon using their own skills.

“Alright! That wraps up the overview! I think you’ve all reviewed the detailed precautions and dungeon information in your respective classes, so I’ll skip that! After a 30-minute preparation break, each group will enter one at a time. Any questions?”

“Is it alright?”

“Yes! Go ahead!”

When Lime finished her explanation and asked if there were any questions, a girl from another class raised her hand to ask.

“When each group enters the dungeon, won’t there be a chance of overlapping time? In that case, wouldn’t multiple groups run into each other?”

“Oh! That won’t be an issue! This dungeon has a very unique design. Even though the entrance is the same, everyone starts at different points. I think they’re using space-time magic to distort areas, so you won’t bump into others right away. We’ll stagger the entrance times by about three minutes, but you don’t need to worry about anything else!”

“I see. I understand.”

As Lime said, this dungeon is quite different from others, not only in how the monsters’ strength varies by layer but also in that everyone starts from different locations right after entering.

The principle is still not fully understood, but likely it’s indeed as Lime speculated, using space-time magic to warp the areas, moving individuals to separate locations through the entrance door.

However, there’s a rule: when moving people separately, there needs to be a slight time difference, and if the intervals aren’t adhered to, everyone would be moved to the same place.

But conversely, if they pass through the door within three minutes, they can challenge the dungeon as multiple people, which has become common when students form parties.

“Any other questions? …Looks like there are none. Alright, that’s it for the explanation! Now let’s take a short break, so everyone get ready!”

Saying that, Lime stepped down from the podium, and the other students began inspecting their weapons and making final adjustments to their strategies.

“El.”

“Huh? Why are you hugging me?”

As soon as the break began, Fiera naturally came over and embraced me without hesitation.

“El component refill. Since we won’t be together for several hours.”

“Just a few hours, right?”

“Just a few hours.”

“Fiera, slow down. Don’t just disappear from in front of us in an instant!”

Following the unyielding Fiera was Sonia, Sephiria, and a girl named Silfa, who was paired with them for this session.

“Sonia, keep a tight grip on that one’s leash. Don’t let her run wild.”

“I can’t help it. Fiera and I have vastly different base abilities. Even if I hold onto her, I’d just be dragged along.”

I wish Sonia would take a cue from Shuvina, but it seems stopping the increasingly dog-like Fiera wouldn’t be an easy task.

“Thinking about it, Shuvina is pretty amazing.”

“What brought that on?”

“No, just considering how well you managed to scold and drag Fiera in this state, makes you a remarkable guardian.”

“I’m not thrilled to hear that.”

Trying to tease Shuvina with my comment, she gave a complicated expression, unsure if she should be pleased or unhappy, and let out a big sigh.

“Fiera~!”

“Hm?”

At that moment, four adventurers approached from the front, calling out Fiera’s name, looking rather surprised.

“Sonia.”

“Fiera! Why are you here?!”

“That’s real! I was very surprised to see Fiera just now!”

“Huh. I was keeping quiet to surprise you. I’m enrolled here.”

The four adventurers who approached us were Rick, Fall, Sonia, and Mail, whom I’d met in the Town of Adonia. I was a bit surprised when they were introduced as the guiding adventurers.

“So that’s how it is. Oh, that’s why you had a bad look on your face when we ran into you in Alphys!”

“Right. Happy to see you again.”

“I’m also glad to see you again!”

From what I heard, it seems Fiera and Sonia had initially reunited in the Town of Alphys, making this their second meeting.

“Fiera, I wasn’t informed of this either?”

“Huh. Surprise! I was going to shock you.”

“Well, I was certainly a bit surprised.”

“Hehe. Mission accomplished. Good to hear.”

It seems the reason Fiera hadn’t told me about reuniting with Rick and the others was to surprise me, and now that she got what she wanted, she smiled joyfully.

“By the way, Fiera, who’s this super gorgeous guy you’re hugging?”

“Well, I wanted to ask that too… Wait a minute! Fiera’s hugging?”

Mail, quick on the uptake, seemed to realize who I was, but the other three still didn’t get it, so I decided to introduce myself smoothly.

“Long time no see, Rick, Fall, Sonia, and Mail.”

“Huh? How do you know our names…? Wait, could it be…?”

“I guess you didn’t recognize me because I look different, but I’m Eir. Happy to see you again.”

“Eh——!!!?!”

Upon realizing my identity, Rick and the others gasped loudly in unison, causing everyone in the vicinity to turn their attention to us.
