Chapter 207
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 200: A Painful Situation
I deflected all of Fūshiru’s attacks and perfected the Sakura Flow Fist before launching my own assault.
“Here we go, Shock Wave!”
“Gaah!!!”
Sliding past Fūshiru’s attacks and getting into his personal space, I pressed my right hand against his chest and delivered an internal shock wave.
This technique is the same Shock Wave I used two years ago when I fought Build in the Adonia Forest, but its power has increased exponentially since then.
“Don’t let your guard down. Here, once more… Reversal!”
“Goho! Ueaaaahhh!”
Reversal is a technique different from normal Shock Wave, as it can fool the internal organs into thinking they’ve been flipped upside down.
By making Fūshiru’s stomach believe it had flipped, it causes the contents to reverse, hitting him with intense nausea.
“Dammit… Dammit, dammit, dammit!! I, the mightiest of the Dragon Kin, cannot lose to mere humans!!! ‘Dragon Roar’!!!!”
“I always think this, but the moment you say you can’t lose, you’re already thinking about losing, huh? ‘Sea Dragon King.'”
Fūshiru’s shockwave of sound approached, gouging the ground as it came, but I released my magic power to conjure a water dragon and directed it at the Dragon Roar.
“Haha! You fool! That technique was the same magic that little girl used earlier! But! Magic won’t work! It will be nullified by my Dragon Roar!”
“Heh. The fool is you. Do you really think I’d do the same thing without any countermeasures?”
“What?… W-what?! The dragon slipped right through!!!?”
My Leviathan and Fūshiru’s Dragon Roar clashed at the midpoint, but unlike when I faced Iris, neither disappeared; they just passed through each other.
And then, my Leviathan opened its great mouth and swallowed the astonished Fūshiru, while his Dragon Roar created a wall of dirt to defend.
“Hehehe, how was that? Did it hurt?”
“W-why…… Surely, my Dragon Roar should have connected……”
Lying on the ground, he resembled a lizard more than a dragon, making for a quite pitiful sight.
“Indeed, your Dragon Roar hit. But unfortunately, its effectiveness didn’t register.”
“So, what’s the reason… I’m asking!”
“Haah, did you really not understand? Lily?”
It seemed Fūshiru truly didn’t grasp why his technique failed, so I turned to Iris, who had been watching our fight the whole time.
“…Vibration, maybe? The Sea Dragon King Luna’s was slightly vibrating at the surface.”
“Correct.”
“Vibration… you say?”
“Yes. The Sea Dragon King I conjured just now, unlike the one during Lily’s turn, was vibrating at its surface. Your Dragon Roar is magic that conveys power through sound, right? But ultimately, its essence lies in sound. Sound creates waves by vibrating the air, and if you shoot a wave of the same wavelength against it, it will swell briefly before passing right through each other without further interference.”
Sound possesses fascinating properties, with its generation rooted in waves that vibrate the air.
By placing an opposing wave against another, the sound can be negated; however, colliding identical waves causes a brief swell before returning to the original state.
I realized this when I matched the wavelength of another’s magic power to my own.
To adjust my magic to align with someone’s unique magical wavelength requires precise syncing without any discrepancies.
If, for example, I accidentally use a mismatched wave, the magic would reject each other, potentially leading to death.
“Moreover, water has a high density, making it more susceptible to the impact of sound waves. Therefore, Lily’s magic was easily nullified by the vibration.
But on the surface of my magic, I had applied vibrations that matched the sound wave you produced with no discrepancies.
As a result, even when my magic clashed with your Dragon Roar, it wasn’t nullified; the vibration of your technique merely passed through the surface of my magic, making it seem like it slipped right through.”
“That’s… impossible…”
“Yet it exists! That’s the gap in our experience. You’ve learned something valuable today!”
I said and approached Fūshiru, who was still sprawled on the ground, and while stepping harshly on his back, I began to ask the questions that had been on my mind.
“Alright. I have a few things I want to ask you, first. What is your goal?”
“…”
“Hmm. Not willing to answer, huh? By the way, I’ve been curious about something.”
With a sadistic grin, I gripped Fūshiru’s wings and pressed down harder with the foot I had on his back.
“W-what are you planning to do…?”
“You know, when lizards sense danger, they cut off their tails to escape, right? And after some time, the tail regrows. So, what about the Dragon Kin’s wings?”
“St-stop it!!”
“Hahaha!”
“Guwaaaah!!!”
Ignoring Fūshiru’s desperate screams to stop, I tightened my grip on his wings and yanked them off with force.
The sound of skin splitting echoed as I tore his wings away, showering the ground in red blood, which I discarded like trash.
Then, to silence Fūshiru, who was screaming in agony, I viciously stomped on his head.
“Now, quickly answer me. What is your goal?”
“Ugh… Who would, who would tell you!!”
“I see. Well, don’t worry. There’s still plenty to take from you.”
And so I mercilessly began to strip Fūshiru of each body part—his wings, the horns symbolic of the Dragon Kin, his arms, legs, ears, and eyes—breaking, cutting, and gouging them off one by one.
Even if he didn’t answer every question, I’d heal him and repeat the same process until he did.
As the dungeon filled with the scent of Fūshiru’s blood and the floor turned crimson, I finally was able to extract all the answers I was looking for.
“I see. Your goal is to revive the Dragon Emperor, huh? For that, you need a lot of human blood, so you were planning to spur wars among humans to collect the necessary blood.”
“Y-yes…”
The bravado Fūshiru had before our battle was completely gone; without his precious wings and horns, his once black hair turned white from excessive stress, leaving him unrecognizable.
“The Dragon Emperor, huh?”
Two years ago, there was an incident in Valentine Duchy where Miria and the townspeople were kidnapped, and those responsible were also part of the bunch aiming for the Dragon Emperor’s revival.
(If I recall, the culprit back then was a guy named Gaizar. So, preparations for war started way before I thought they did.)
I had thought that the agreements and preparations for war among nations, including Saramāju, were more recent, but it seemed the roots stretched much further back than I imagined.
“So, you goaded the king of Saramāju into war, did you?”
“N-no, that’s not true… The current king of Saramāju originally intended to start a war… I merely thought to use that to gather blood, offering my assistance. The war itself was not my order…”
(Hmm. The current king of Saramāju was the one who sought war. There must be some reason behind it.)
While Saramāju claims to be a nation, its population is far lower than the Empire’s, and its military strength can only be suppressed by Valentine Duchy.
Moreover, being a country with many criminals, their only skill is in killing, and they aren’t the type to instigate wars involving other nations just for fun.
“You’ve met with the current king, haven’t you? State his name.”
“The name of the current king is… Rogurando Luzelia. He refers to himself as such.”
“Rogurando, you say.”
The moment I heard that name, I was taken aback by an unexpected figure showing up, and apparently, so was Iris, who was far away.
Rogurando Luzelia—a name deemed taboo in the Empire, forbidden to utter, and deemed as already dead.
He is the current Emperor of the Luzelia Empire, which makes him the brother of Orsena Luzelia, the father of Sharueina, and her uncle.
However, about twelve years ago, when Sharueina was only four, Rogurando suddenly rebelled against the current imperial family, assaulting the imperial castle with his subordinates.
Fortunately, on that day, a crisis meeting was happening, and my father was present alongside Duke Horstine, the Sword Saint, along with the leaders of the knight order and the mage corps, preventing any disaster. Had it not been for that meeting, the Emperor’s side would have been defeated, and the rebellion could have succeeded, resulting in a change of emperors.
As news of Rogurando, the brother of the Emperor, rebelling spread across the Empire, people were too frightened by the event to even speak his name.
As for the reason behind the rebellion, it was said he couldn’t tolerate the thought of his younger brother becoming the Emperor, believing that he himself was the rightful heir.
Indeed, my father had also mentioned that Rogurando excelled in both magical talent and martial arts over the current Emperor. However, his overwhelming ambition and elitism led the previous Emperor to recognize this trait and ultimately pass the throne to his younger brother, Orsena.
Afterward, I had heard that Rogurando was executed secretly, but it seems he was still alive, plotting revenge after a twelve-year span.
Most importantly, the one who idolized Rogurando more than anyone else was none other than Sharueina.
She had an episode of shutting herself off due to the betrayal of her beloved uncle, and if we head to Saramāju now, there’s a possibility that Rogurando and Sharueina will meet again, reigniting her trauma.
(Ugh. This has turned into a troublesome situation.)
I had a past where my hometown was destroyed in a war with Saramāju, but unfortunately, I died alongside it before I even knew the identity of the king.
So, while this attack on the nation of Saramāju involves plenty of unknowns, even I needed some time to process the unexpected developments, leaving no room for imagining what would happen if Sharueina learned of this.
“Well, for now, I understand your goal. You—well, let’s see.”
After contemplating how to handle Fūshiru for a while, I concluded that he could be useful like the Demon Kin man, switching my focus in my mind from Sharueina to the Dragon Emperor.
“I have a few questions. First, how many people’s blood is needed to revive the Dragon Emperor?”
“Twenty thousand human’s blood.”
“Twenty thousand, huh? Does it specifically have to be human blood, or can other races do?”
“That’s right. According to an ancient tale, it seems only human blood will suffice for the revival.”
“I see.”
As much as it would be ideal to sacrifice just Saramāju to resolve this, their total population, including slaver merchants and slaves, is only about 150,000, so it wouldn’t be enough.
Furthermore, if I were to destroy other nations recklessly, it would only lead to a war between humans and Dragon Kin, making it challenging for the Dragon Kin to intervene. They seemed to intend to ally with the king of Saramāju to spark a war and gather the necessary blood.
(If I gather the criminals from Saramāju, as well as from other countries, along with information about criminal organizations, it might just suffice? I’ll have Miria and Kamael gather more info later.)
In this world, battles against monsters and wars between nations tend to break out easily, making the value of life extremely cheap, with a plethora of criminals around.
I’m certainly not so rotted that I’d sacrifice innocent people, so I decided to have Miria and Kamael compile information about how many criminal slaves and organizations exist.
“I understand your aim. Now let’s negotiate. First, you shall withdraw from this war. In exchange, I will assist you in the revival of the Dragon Emperor.”
“…Huh?”
Fūshiru raised his head with a look of astonishment, finally looking up from his lowered gaze at my unexpected proposal, his eyes filled with confusion.
“If you cease your involvement with Saramāju, I’ll help gather that blood for you. We’re here to crush Saramāju itself. It’s a den of criminals, after all. I intend to wipe them out completely. So you only need to gather blood from the remaining Saramāju citizens. For any shortfall, I’ll gather info on the criminals and give it to you, and you just have to kill them and collect the blood. How does that sound?”
“Why would you do that? They are also your kind, aren’t they? Shouldn’t you protect your kin?”
“Ahaha. Protect? I have no desire to protect others whatsoever. Especially if they’re criminals; I couldn’t care less if they die. What I look forward to is fighting the revived Dragon Emperor.”
My thoughts were singular: only death and my pleasure crossed my mind.
If someone were to let me die, I wouldn’t care if it endangered my kin—a Demon King or Dragon Emperor’s revival wouldn’t matter to me.
“As long as you can revive the Dragon Emperor, you stand to gain by teaming up with me. If you oppose me here, you’ll be a nuisance, and I’ll just kill you right now. What’s it gonna be?”
“I-I’m in. I’ll do as you say.”
“Alrighty then. You’ll return to Saramāju and keep pretending to be Rogurando’s ally like before. We’ll head toward Saramāju via a different route. After everything is done, I’ve got some details to discuss, so don’t you dare try to run!”
“U-understood.”
“Then, we’ll be on our way.”
Saying that, I cast recovery magic on Fūshiru, restoring everything back to normal before turning my back to him to head where Iris was waiting.
He then fled along the path we came from, his presence growing ever fainter.
“Haha, what a lizard-like guy. Let’s head back now, Lily.”
“Yes, Luna-san. Oh, please wait a moment.”
“Hm?”
As we were about to return to the inn, Iris inexplicably stopped us and gently wiped my cheek with a handkerchief she took out from her pocket.
“Your face was stained with blood.”
“Ah, thank you. Now, shall we head back for real?”
“Yes.”
Afterward, we returned to the guild master’s room once more, reset the bookshelf mechanism, and then teleported back to the inn in a flash.
