The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 14: Fluffy

When Sheila returned with the reward, I called out to her to borrow the training grounds.

Fiera and I arrived at the training grounds, warmed up, and faced each other.

Beastmen excel in physical enhancement instead of using elemental magic, and their natural physical abilities are high, making them skilled in close combat.

Additionally, they have superior senses, granting them high dynamic vision and danger detection skills, allowing them to dodge standard attacks.

Lastly, there’s beast transformation. This ability is unique to beastmen, and upon transforming, they gain physical capabilities far beyond mere enhancement.

Faced with such a close combat specialist, I decided not to wield my usual sword and instead stood ready with just my fists.

Why, you ask? It just seemed more fun. That’s the only reason.

“Are both participants ready?”

“Yeah.”

“Mm.”

“Then… begin!”

As soon as the signal was given, I was the first to attack.

To gauge her movements, I rushed straight in and aimed a punch at her face.

However, as expected, Fiera easily dodged, and then countered with a punch to my torso from a diagonal angle.

I blocked it with my left arm and immediately retreated to create some distance.

(As I thought, her base physical abilities are superior. I might’ve broken my arm if I hadn’t used physical enhancement for that last punch.)

In our first exchange, neither Fiera nor I had used physical enhancement.

Well, I did use it during my last guard.

“Nice. Next up.”

I activated physical enhancement, swiftly maneuvering behind Fiera, and delivered a kick.

However, Fiera also used physical enhancement, easily catching my kick with her right arm, then grabbed my leg and threw me.

“Whoa!”

I managed to catch myself on the ground with my right hand, breaking my fall, and relaxed my stance to talk to her.

“You’re strong. By the way, what’s your rank?”

“C. I’m about to level up to B.”

“I see.”

While capable in hand-to-hand combat, I recognized from our exchanges that Fiera was quite the powerhouse.

“Then, I’ll step it up a notch.”

From that point, it turned into a fight so fast that I couldn’t track it with my eyes. Whenever I attacked, Fiera matched my moves with a counter.

When Fiera advanced, I would dodge and retaliate.

But because both of us were aiming for counters, we each lacked a decisive blow.

(Just as I expect from a beastman. She can keep up with me this well. Then…)

Directing my gaze and intent towards Fiera’s right side, she inevitably moved her arm to block her abdomen.

However, I smirked at her and unleashed a roundhouse kick to her left side.

Fiera took the hit head-on, launching her through the air until she collided with the wall and finally came to a stop.

“Are you alive?”

As I approached Fiera, it seemed she still had some consciousness, as she nodded in response.

However, it seemed she couldn’t stand due to the impact on her head, so I cast a recovery spell on her.

“That should be fine.”

“Thanks.”

Once Fiera got back on her feet, she bowed her head slightly to thank me. What a polite one she is.

“So, what did you do at the end?”

“It’s simple. You beastmen excel in your senses. You’re sensitive to killing intent and visual cues, which means the less experienced rely too much on their instincts to defend. That’s why they fall for simple feints.”

“I see.”

Seemingly satisfied with my explanation, Fiera nodded.

Then, looking up, she stared intently at me.

“What is it?”

“The party situation.”

“I see. Sure, I’ll team up with you.”

“Thanks.”

Fiera expressed her gratitude with her usual blank expression, but her fluffy tail was swaying, showing her happiness.

(That tail, I wonder if I could pet it later…)

“So, what should I do from here?”

“For now, let’s work on leveling you up. I’m currently A rank, and Fiera should level up quickly too. I’ll help you with the requests.”

“Got it.”

After Fiera confirmed, she immediately left the training grounds. She was probably off to check on some requests.

“Looks like we’re done.”

“Yes, thank you for judging.”

“No, I hardly did anything. More importantly, are you sure you want to form a party? I thought you were someone who didn’t interact much with others, Eir.”

“Yeah, that’s generally true. However, I felt an interest since she seemed to have a similar mindset to mine.”

“A similar mindset… you say?”

“Yep. Willing to die if it means becoming stronger.”

Upon hearing my words, Sheila looked a bit sad but had nothing more to say.

Afterward, as I left the training grounds, I called out to Fiera and used flight magic to return to the mansion.

The following week, I helped Fiera with her leveling up.

Completing requests together sped things along, and she was nearing the point where she’d be eligible for the A rank elevation exam after her next request.

During that time, I taught Fiera everything I knew about hand-to-hand combat.

Apparently, she had a natural talent, as she quickly grasped what I taught and had become stronger than me in just hand-to-hand combat.

And I was super happy about one thing: Fiera let me touch her tail and ears.

They were so fluffy and had a great texture; it seemed she took good care of them, as her fur was beautifully groomed and pleasant to the touch.

However, an unexpected twist occurred—Fiera started requesting grooming more often, but I didn’t mind and willingly obliged.

Today, the two of us strolled slightly away from the town.

According to the request, there had been sightings of a B rank monster, an ogre, in this area, and we were to defeat it.

Ogres resemble the creatures known as demons in the eastern lands, with red skin and horns protruding from their foreheads. They are powerful, muscular, and quick with high attack power, making them formidable foes.

As I deployed detection magic to search for the ogre, I sensed a carriage being attacked by three ogres.

“Fiera, there’s an ogre! It seems a carriage is under attack. Shall we help?”

“Okay!”

Using physical enhancement, Fiera and I dashed with such speed that it seemed we’d vanished from sight.

We quickly reached our destination, and I instructed Fiera to handle one of the ogres at the back of the carriage.

She nodded and accelerated towards the rear of the carriage.

I charged at the ogre in front with my sword drawn, slicing one of the ogres in half from behind.

The remaining ogre, realizing its companion had fallen, swung its club at me.

I evaded the blow by shifting slightly, severing its wrist, and then closed the distance in one motion, delivering a diagonal cut to the other ogre.

“Now, how’s Fiera doing…?”

“Done.”

Turned around to check on Fiera, I was surprised to see her standing there holding the magic stone from the ogre.

“Good work. Considering we achieved the request, shall we head back?”

I sensed people disembarking from the carriage, but dealing with nobles would be a hassle, so I hurried to leave the scene.

“Lord… Lewis?”

However, someone suddenly called my name from behind, and when I turned around, I found myself facing my fiancée, Iris.

(What’s Iris doing here? Oh right, today was the day she was supposed to come over.)

Enjoying adventures with Fiera so much made me completely forget Iris was visiting, and I regretted turning around at that moment.

“Indeed, it is you, Lord Lewis Valentine.”

“No, I’m Eir.”

Since I was disguised with magic, I thought I wouldn’t be recognized, but Iris continued speaking with a knowing tone.

“No. When I called you Lord Lewis just now, you turned this way. Plus, even if your hair and eye colors are different, your bone structure is unmistakably Lord Lewis’s. There’s no Mistaking it.”

Hearing Iris’s words, I was at a loss for words from shock.

(It’s true that I turned around when my name was called, but what’s with my bone structure not being different?)

“Fiera, we’re heading back.”

“Got it. Groom my fur when we get home.”

“I’ll groom it as much as you want. But we need to hurry.”

Suddenly feeling scared about being here, I called out to Fiera and fully activated physical enhancement, making my escape.

“Fiera… grooming… Hehe. As I thought…”

We vanished as if teleporting, unable to hear the words Iris whispered.
