The Villain Is Destined to Die: But as the Creator, I know All Endings

Chapter 98: Weapon Selection Event

The Eclipse Institute of Magic and Arts was considered the best academy for learning spellcrafting and weapon arts.

With its unique ranking system, the academy designed different learning structures for each level, ensuring that even students with a weak foundation received specialized education tailored to their growth.

Among those students, Class S ranked above all. They were classes full of prodigies and geniuses from across the world with extraordinary talent.

There was one specific event that stood out more than anything else in Eclipse. And that was the Weapon Selection Event.

Clang—!

After the giant rusty metallic door opened, Professor Esther brought all the students inside a dome-shaped building.

"What the hell?"

Someone muttered as they stepped in.

Leon walked right behind him, next to Ethan. His eyes widened just like the others as he saw the interior.

"..."

Unlike the outside, which looked like some abandoned haunted factory mill, the inside of this building was the complete opposite.

The floor, ceiling, and walls were all made of white marble. Even Leon could see his own reflection on the floor.

"This is the Academy's armory?" Ethan said as his eyes wandered across the room.

"Why are all the walls empty?" he asked Leon.

Leon glanced at the walls too. They were pristine white but completely empty. Not a single painting or decorative piece could be seen anywhere.

"Where are all the weapons?" a boy asked his friend.

It seemed everyone else had noticed it too. If this was indeed the Academy's armory, there should have been at least some weapons displayed on the walls or placed around the room.

But there was nothing.

To them, it felt as if they were simply standing inside a giant auditorium.

"Let's just wait for Professor to explain," Leon said to Ethan.

In reality, Leon already knew about this place and why it looked like this.

Weapon Selection Event was a huge step for Eclipse students after the Class Allotment Test.

Because the Eclipse Institute was filthy rich, they allowed their students to pick whatever weapon suited them best.

Every weapon allotted was unique and had distinct features suitable for its possessor. Students would feel a strange resonance with the weapon before choosing it as their own.

Thinking all that, Leon's eyes wandered toward the entrance.

He saw Professor Esther standing with the old man who had opened the door.

Leon didn't know who this old man was or what his relation with Esther could be.

It was never mentioned in the game.

'An NPC?' he thought.

If that person was an NPC, it made sense. The game focused on the protagonist, not on the side characters who never appeared on screen.

'I wonder how many more I would meet.'

From the way both were talking, anyone could tell they knew each other well. Esther and the old man with black eyes and white ponytailed hair were arguing like old acquaintances.

'What happened between them?' Leon tried to recall, but he knew little about Esther's personal life.

The people she met off-screen in the game were impossible to know.

The old man looked very unhappy about her visit.

'Come to think of it…' Leon recalled something. 'Didn't that old man say he banned Esther from entering this place?'

Well, that was something new. Esther Halls, the one who made groundbreaking research in spellcrafting, banned from entering a place that was a sub-section of that very field.

After a few minutes of arguing, Esther sighed, rubbed her forehead, and turned toward the class with clear annoyance.

She walked right up in front of them, folding her arms.

No one dared to make a sound. It was obvious to everyone that she was in a really bad mood.

"All right," she said flatly, "we've got thirty minutes in hand before that old basta… I mean before that old man kicks us all out."

She continued.

"For those who don't know the rules, I'll say this one time."

She began explaining.

The weapon selection event was divided into two categories to suit the two main paths of mages.

The first was Battle Mage, and the second was Mage.

Students had to choose the side they were more comfortable with.

A Battle Mage was someone who used enchanted weapons and artifacts that resonated with their mana.

A Mage, on the other hand, focused purely on spellcasting and was allowed to choose wands, cloaks, and various mage-related artifacts.

"Remember," Esther repeated, "because of your class rank, you will be allowed to choose weapons above Low Grade, that means you could choose an Intermediate weapon if you found a resonance with it. But that doesn't mean you can't choose Low Grade weapons. Make your choice wisely. This is a one-time opportunity."

Leon scanned his surroundings.

Every face around him lit up with excitement.

An Intermediate Grade weapon was a big deal.

To possess something above Intermediate rank required a license, but some noble houses could bypass that without any issue.

"Which category will you choose?" Ethan whispered.

Leon had already thought about it before coming here.

He would be getting his hands on Moonblade soon, so choosing Battle Mage would be pointless for him.

"Mage," Leon answered.

"Only Mage?"

"Yep." He nodded and asked, "You're going with Battle?"

Ethan smiled and nodded. "Indeed, I want a brand new sword."

'That's so lore accurate.'

Ethan had chosen Battle in the original storyline too.

"All right, those who chose Battle, stand in front of the left wall," Esther said loudly for everyone to hear. "The rest, stand in front of the right wall."

Everyone looked confused.

Walls?

But the walls were empty.

Leon ignored the murmurs and followed the instruction. Ethan moved to the left while Leon walked toward the right wall and stood in front of an empty spot.

All he could see was white marble.

Whispers spread through the hall as some students hesitated.

"We don't have time," Esther said again, her voice sharper this time.

Everyone finally moved.

'Wow, she seems pissed,' Leon thought to himself.

As everyone stood in place in a line in front of the walls, Esther walked toward the middle of the dome.

Her heels clicked against the marble floor, echoing through the entire space.

Leon's eyes stayed fixed on the wall ahead, waiting for what he knew would come next.

THUMP!!

A loud, heavy sound rang through the dome as Esther stomped the marble floor. The impact was strong enough to make the air shift.

Before anyone could even turn their heads, golden patterns began to spread across the entire building like flowing streams of light. Thin golden lines webbed out from where Esther stood, tracing the surface in intricate circles and spirals. They crawled along the ceiling, the floor beneath their feet, and finally the walls in front of them.

A golden glow lingered on the walls, warm and bright like sunlight captured in crystal.

Leon grinned slightly.

'Eclipse never forgets to show off.'

"Keep your eyes focused, and run straight through the wall," Esther said, loud and clear.

Murmurs spread through the hall again. Some students hesitated, some shuffled their feet nervously.

Leon didn't wait for anyone. He braced himself, focused his eyes straight ahead, and dashed toward the wall at full speed.

Zwoop–!

His body vanished through the golden light like it was water.

The next second, his vision blurred even more for a heartbeat. Then, as it cleared, an entirely new scene stretched out before him.

White, yellow, green, blue, and red lights floated like drifting smoke. It wasn't just a room. It felt like stepping into another world entirely.

Leon's eyes widened as he took it all in.

Various wands, staffs, cloaks, jars, and other artifacts floated gently in the air.

One wand hovered towards him, its surfaces radiated with mana, releasing a soft magical mana pulse at his direction that tried to resonate with his core. But the attempt failed.

The wand moved away from his body.

"Amazing," Leon whispered, unable to help himself.

In reality, this place was a dimensional storage.

A pocket space, or more precisely, a small dimension separated from reality, which was created specifically for storing magical weapons and artifacts.

He could already spot a few high-grade cloaks just floating a short distance away.

"Wow, so beautiful."

This soft voice brought Leon back to his senses.

He turned his head to the side and saw Rinna standing there.

She looked just as amazed as he felt, her blue eyes reflecting the colors in the air, and her white hair was floating.

Not just her. A few other students who had chosen Mage had also arrived, their expressions filled with awe as they stared at the floating equipment around them.

Leon exhaled softly.

'Alice is really missing out on a lot today,' he thought.

"Poor girl." Leon sighed.

"Hm?"

Leon and Rinna made eye contact.

Leon didn't say anything, but he saw a flicker of hesitation in her eyes, as if she wanted to say something but couldn't. So, Leon did what he usually did with others.

He gave a small polite bow of his head in front of her and quietly moved away.
