The Villain Is Destined to Die: But as the Creator, I know All Endings

Chapter 89: The Moon on a rainy night [1]

Leon casually looked at the head that had just rolled to his feet.

Wide-open crimson eyes peeked from behind black and purple strands of hair, frozen in a strange expression, a combination of a smile and terror.

Alice's severed head stared at him.

Thud–!

Her torso collapsed forward, blood gushing from her neck, splattering across Leon's face and soaking him wet.

His lips tasted metallic.

He looked up.

What he found was a pair of black eyes staring down at him. Endless spiral lashes, blush-pink wings spread behind her back, a thin pointed tail slithering lazily in the air, and one huge horn crowning her head told Leon exactly who she was.

A succubus.

Her pupil locked on him as she indecently pursed her lips.

But this wasn't any ordinary succubus. This was an Archdemon. A Succubi. And their future clan master.

Lyra Ve'Nora.

Leon knew her well. She was still alive even in the era he came from. By then, she had already reached Primordial rank and become one of the most influential demons in Rebirth of the Fivefold Calamity.

"♡♡♡ How long has it been since I did it with a man… ♡♡♡" she whispered, her eyes devouring him from head to toe.

Leon felt his body shiver, but he held it in. He kept staring back at her. He had to. Otherwise, everything he had worked for would crumble.

Her tail coiled around Alice's half-torso, then she flung it aside, clearing the path to Leon.

Alice's body slammed into the nearest wall and fell half on the muddy ground.

Leon tightened his grip on Moonblade.

"♡♡♡ Oh my my~ ♡♡♡"

"Why did you kill her?" Leon asked flatly, glancing at Alice's head by his foot.

"Hm?" Nora tilted her head playfully, leaning closer. "Why ask? Well… I didn't kill her. She chose to kill herself."

Her breath carried a rosy scent. Steam even curled from her lips as she spoke.

"Uheeeee~♡" Her tongue slid out long and wet, dragging up the side of Leon's ear.

"Less talk. Just leave it all to me."

Succubi were a race of demons born only female. To keep their kind alive, they mated across all species. They never discriminated.

And their most dangerous trait was…

"You smell nice, boy~♡"

They were always in heat.

"..."

From Leon's expression, it looked like he didn't care at all. Like, he was fine.

'Strange…' Nora thought, looking at Leon, 'even after seeing me, even after seeing his partner getting killed… this man had this look in his eyes.'

A look that screamed extreme confidence. As if he knew nothing would happen to him.

Her smile grew wider. 'Don't tell me… he's already fallen for meeeeeee~♡♡♡'

Her imagination bloomed. She pictured him giving in, pictured herself savoring every inch of his body until—

'Aah~♡ I can't hold it anymore! He's too submissive—'

But she was wrong.

The truth was, Leon had no mana left. And casting another spell, even one more [Blind Blade], was impossible for him.

Alice was dead too. She was sent back to the real world, definitely unconscious.

Dying in a two-star book only meant a few days of coma. Leon knew that, so he didn't mind her death at all.

He turned his head slightly, gazing at the half-torso lying in the mud.

His lips parted just enough for a whisper.

"…It's quiet now."

Then, lifting his eyes to Nora, his voice steadied.

"You really killed the wrong one first."

The succubus froze. For the first time, her smile faltered.

"...?"

A grin spread across Leon's face.

"What did you just say?"

Her tail twitched as she narrowed her eyes.

She spread her detection spell across the area.

Nothing.

There was no one here.

No one except her and the young man dripping in blood.

Alice had sensed two presences here. One belonged to Nora. The other—

"That girl had potential." A voice, soft yet eternal, drifted through the cave.

Nora's eyes widened. "Wha–?!"

"Too bad," the whisper followed, carrying like moonlight in the rain, "fate always takes the innocent ones first."

Ching–! Ching–! Ching–!

Silver-white chains erupted into formation, glowing with cold white radiance. They wrapped around Nora's limbs, pulling her body into the air, binding her limbs like a puppet on display.

"What—! Impossible!" she thrashed, panic flooding her voice.

The power in those chains was suffocating, it was heavier than her own lord.

Leon stood unmoving below, his eyes never leaving her face.

"There was a time when the fox was caught for tricking the sheep…"

The air froze.

"But now… no one will ever know who the fox is."

"WHO THE HELL IS SPEAKING?!" Nora shrieked, only to be silenced by a cold "hush."

"Shhhhhh."

The rain outside stilled. And in that frozen moment, Leon's faint grin lingered.

A white light, pale and eternal, slipped across both of their vision. They felt cold yet sanctified. It was pure mana, so pure that the demon herself was left in awe.

Step–

A step sounded against the stone, like a delicate silk brushing against glass.

Nora felt her heart lock. Every instinct howled at her.

Something just entered her domain. Something terrifying, something much more terrifying than her demon god.

And she might have already guessed who it was. There were a few rumours of her being sighted here after all.

A human whose power alone rivals her lord. A mere mortal who shouldn't exist between the mortals.

One of the five Calamities.

Leon felt a presence just to her left, where Alice's severed body was thrown.

He turned and saw a figure in a bright yellowish gown carefully placing Alice's corpse right. Her golden hair shone brighter with the white cast of the chains she had cast earlier. And her eternal emerald eyes carefully blinked with each passing second.

She was one of the Five Calamities. The owner of the Blood Calamity Tower.

The history had named her the Silvermoon goddess.

As she entered Leon's view, a message popped up in his vision.

[One human soul must be present… CONDITION SATISFIED]

[The soul must possess light… CONDITION SATISFIED]

[The body must be out of all mana… CONDITION SATISFIED]

[All Conditions have been made]

[Consuming 10% story progression]

[Generating reward…./]

[Success]

Lines of message like a prompt cascaded in Leon's blurry vision.

He knew this would happen.

Leon was right; he did what Ethan failed to do.

Then the progress bar before his eyes fell.

Progress: [|||||||||||||||74%-----]

To meet the Silvermoon and to receive the rewards. Several conditions must be satisfied.

— — —

Back at the Present.

Astral Tale Library, Eclipse Institute.

Eula shot up from her chair, her breath caught in her throat.

Her eyes locked on the resonator.

The progress bar.

It had fallen.

Not by one percent. But it dropped like a cliff.

Progress: [|||||||||||||74%-------]

Seena's lips parted, but no sound came out. Even the headmaster froze. He looked at it again.

None of them had ever seen the Tale's progress collapse like that. It should have been impossible.

"Princess Eula, what is happening there?!" Raizen's voice rang sharp, a rare panic spilling through his usual composed manner.

But Eula did not answer. She didn't know how or from where to begin. Her mind spun blank, her heart pounded, and her gaze refused to look away from that scene.

'Leon.'

Her chest tightened.

No one would believe it. She herself barely believed it. What she had just witnessed inside the Tale.

It was something impossible, something unthinkable.

Leon…

Leon was a maniac.

Her hand pressed against her mouth. The thought rattled again and again. And yet it wasn't madness. It was something worse, but something more terrifying.

That…

That was One of the Five Calamities.

A Calamity had appeared inside a two-star Tale. The Silvermoon goddess herself, the eternal moon, is stepping into the land of mortals.

Eula saw her.

How?

Why?

How could Leon possibly know? He looked like he knew.

How could he even think like that?

Questions spiraled like knives, stabbing her from inside, from all directions, and none had answers.

Seena touched her shoulder lightly, whispering, "Princess…" but Eula shook her hand off.

She needs to look again.

'One more time…'

Then—

A beam cracked down.

It hit the marble floor with a thunderclap, and when the glow thinned, a collapsed figure lay beside the resonator.

It was Alice.

Her head was intact, her Eclipse uniform fine, her chest faintly rising.

She was just unconscious.

'Oh, right, she died.' Eula thought.

"Alice…!" Raizen noticed first. He did not waste a second.

Eula didn't move. Her lips only barely parted, and with a voice no louder than a whisper, she spoke out.

"But, I don't understand..." She whispered enough for her to hear, "Leon… why did you kill Alice?"

[A/N]: Alright, one more chapter and this arc will be over. I know it has been long, sorry for that. Some parts might feel like a tangled thread to a few readers, and yes, that was deliberate. But do not worry, it will all make sense soon.
