Chapter 46: 44. Oracle and Saint
Ok, I can understand well what a spiritual guardian is from the description, but what I don't understand is why they are available now. Of course, we basically just went through a battle and people died but that shouldn't be enough for elite units to already be available, right?
Yes, I'm basing it on other games but that would be a common thing, right?
But in reality, there is no reason to complain since now I basically had an elite troop with 20 devoted members, and as always the characters were much clearer and in a very superior analysis they would now have all their statuses 20% higher than the others NPCs, except Sofi, Liem, Ivan, Hannah and Matt, also Dan but he would have almost equal status and Constance would have lower status as she would be more of a support, despite not having any skills like the others.
There is and speaking of support, since they were all here together because they no longer take advantage of the occasion and promote the Oracle and the saint, these two as well as the guardians would be the "classes" that the game offers and I could indicate with the requirements met. In the case of these two positions, I thought it would take longer but no, Sofi and Hannah meet all the requirements.
For the Oracle, the requirements were the same as for the guardian with the addition that the NPC should, "hear the voice of God" and "there be more than 30 witnesses during the divine proclamation", obviously I don't know if this should be literal or some event future, but in any case Hannah met these requirements. And as the special classes gave a good boost in status, and Hannah was one of my main ones, it is completely logical that I would choose her for at least one of the positions.
While for the Saint or saint the requirements were the same with the addition of, "having compassion and courage recognized by the divine and mortals", another ambiguous and honestly kind of presumptuous requirement. But when in Rome..., that's right, in fact for these people there were at least 3 options, Constance, Gerard and Dan, I think this would have to do with them being representatives during the goblin attack, Dan as a substitute since he had almost zero HP at the time. Despite thinking that any of them would make a great saint, I decided to go with the constant for 3 reasons.
1. Constant was the weakest character among the devotees and fanatics, so the UP status she would gain would be important.
2. Even though Gerard and Dan are great representatives, I think they would be better as leaders or guardians, or something similar, so I decide to wait until a new role appears that they would fit better into, and if it doesn't appear I can place them as cardinals , bishops or popes or something like that.
3. Well....,, I had already chosen two other women for important positions so it would make a good trio, besides, as a man I end up more inclined to add beautiful or adorable women instead of bearded grown men, even though these are also beautiful.
As soon as the astonishment and discussion between the NPCs seemed to subside, I went straight to the management tab and chose the two for God's respective positions and soon after a light appeared on both of them and new statuses appeared. And almost immediately a notification appeared.
[Congratulations on having appointed an Oracle. Oracles have the function of being interpreters of divine desires in the mortal world and mediating mortal desires for the divine plan.]
[As several mortals have already had wishes answered, now it is your turn to send a wish to mortals.
Choose between:
- construction of a church.
- demand more sacrifices.
- demand human sacrifices.]
[Several mortals feel helpless.
Choose between:
- construction of a humanitarian center
- construction of food distribution
- bless (non-believers)]
And there was still more.
[Congratulations on choosing a Saint. The Saints have the duty to be examples for people defined by the gods, their personal conduct is what makes them chosen and therefore their conduct must be the aspiration of all mortals, having the attention of the gods and these mortals too They can ask for favors directly as long as they offer equivalent payment, except in extreme situations. Saints also have the duty to help spread the fame and glory of God, helping their companions whenever possible.]
[With a defined Saint your duty is to show your favor towards these deortal groups.
Choose between:
- bless (village Green Grassland)
- bless believers
- bless devotees, fanatics (Hannah, Sofi, Liem, Agatha, Gerard, Ivan, Matt, Queliand, etc.)]
....
OK
Isn't that too much, just for two job assignments? This didn't happen before with Sofi, but this time she didn't ask for sacrificial coins (thankfully because I'm done with that).
Now the question is what to choose, I only have the options, not what it would cost to do them, or the benefits and/or disadvantages that each choice would bring. I can only assume the costs and benefits based on what has already happened and the other games I have played.
Taking this into account, I think the best choice for the first decision would be to build the church, as this way people would have a specific place to pray and so on. I even wanted the second option but realistically speaking they wouldn't have much to offer as a sacrifice, and even if they did I wouldn't get much as it was with the goblin corpses and the third one I didn't even consider, of course being a game many would choose the less orthodox option just to see the confusion it would bring, but I'm just one of the rare exceptions who doesn't like doing this kind of thing.
For the second decision, I think the best option would be to bless non-believers, both because they are the minority which probably wouldn't require much, and because even this minority would probably come to my side. I dismissed the other options and simply because the villagers were already doing them on their own initiative, it wouldn't make sense to demand something from them that they were already doing, it could even disrupt the flow of things, so no, just no.
And finally the third decision was the most complicated, the first option would probably affect the land by increasing food production or even making precious stones and metals available in the village area (which I finally discovered is called Green Grassland), the second it would affect everyone who had any sincere belief in me (in my "avatar" in this case) and would probably give a kind of buff to withstand more extreme situations (fortunately they are not facing it, but depending on how long it would last...), and the third should be the same thing but limited only to my main NPCs.
Among the three, which would be the best option?
....
Depending on how long the refugees were there the need for food and accommodation would increase, so the best option to solve at least one of these problems would be the first option. The second would also be good to prevent imminent deaths, but this is an unnecessary concern since none of them are sick or have less than half their HP, so I think the best option would also be food.
One thing I learned in several games, you can never have too much food.
