Chapter 48: Chapter 63: Sisters of Shadow and Frost
The first light of dawn was barely breaking through the dense canopy when Misty awoke, the remnants of a vivid dream still lingering in her mind. It wasn't unusual for her to dream of her sisters, Clara and Anna—they had always been close, even after the gods had chosen different paths for them. But this dream had been different. Urgent.
Misty sat up, her heart pounding as she recalled the images: Clara, standing in a field of battle, her eyes glowing with the fierce light of Kali, the goddess of destruction and rebirth. Beside her was Anna, shrouded in a cloak of ice, the presence of Skadi, the Norse goddess of winter and the hunt, unmistakable.
As the others stirred from sleep, Misty knew what she had to do. She had to find her sisters.
"Eira, Harshit, Leo," Misty began, her voice steady but tinged with urgency. "I need to tell you something important. My sisters, Clara and Anna—they're part of this fight too. They're out there, with their own missions, but I believe we're meant to reunite."
Eira looked up, her eyes softening. "Tell us about them, Misty. We'll help you find them."
Misty nodded, taking a deep breath. "Clara is... she's always been the wild one. She was chosen by Kali, the goddess of destruction and rebirth. But Kali isn't as strong as she once was. Over time, her power has waned, and Clara has struggled with that. But she's fierce, and she won't back down from a fight, no matter the odds."
"And Anna?" Harshit asked, his curiosity piqued.
"Anna's the quieter one," Misty continued. "But don't let that fool you. Skadi, the goddess of winter and the hunt, chose her. Anna wields the cold like a weapon, and she's as relentless as the winter winds. But she's also compassionate, always thinking ahead, always trying to find a way to protect those she cares about."
Leo frowned, processing the information. "So Kali is weak? That could be a problem. If the forgotten gods' champions find out, they'll target her—and by extension, Clara."
"Exactly," Misty said, her expression grim. "We need to find them before that happens. I have a feeling that Kali and Skadi might know something we don't. Something that could turn the tide in this war."
Eira stood, determination in her eyes. "Then we'll find them. We've come this far together, and we're not splitting up now. Clara and Anna are part of this fight, just like we are."
Harshit grinned, his usual humor returning. "Sounds like we're about to get a lot more badass. Two more sisters with god-given powers? I'm all in."
The group quickly packed up their camp, the urgency of their new mission pushing them forward. As they moved deeper into the forest, Misty's thoughts were consumed by memories of her sisters. The last time they had been together, the world had been a different place. Now, with the stakes higher than ever, they would have to rely on each other's strengths to survive.
