The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 987 The Tower

In the chaotic warehouse, Li Huowang leaned against the wall, looking at Yi Donglai in front of him with his heart still racing.

The recent voice echoed in his ears, making him break out in a cold sweat. "What exactly do you want? What did you just say?"

He didn't even dare to think too much about that voice, because as soon as he did, an overwhelming fear would rise in his heart.

His voice quickly drew everyone from outside into the room, all looking around in confusion.

Yi Donglai glanced at the others, then closed the notebook in his hand again, "Li Huowang, there's no need for you to react so violently. I am treating you, isn't this what you asked me to do?"

"Waking me up is also part of the treatment?"

"Waking you up? That's not what I said. Li Huowang, what exactly are you talking about?"

"Something isn't right, definitely not right! This is not the first time!" Li Huowang dashed to the window, looking at the green mountains and waters outside.

Immediately after, with a panicked expression, he shifted his gaze back inside, sometimes glancing at the ceiling, sometimes at the floor, even bending down to vigorously feel the ground with his hands.

The fear in his mind finally surfaced uncontrollably in his mind. Why are you calling me to wake up? I am clearly awake! Could it be that I am dreaming now??

"Huowang... are you alright? What happened? Did something happen over in White Jade Capital?" Yang Na walked forward worriedly, but was immediately stopped by Yi Donglai. "It's fine, let me handle it, let me handle it."

Yi Donglai adjusted his glasses and walked to Li Huowang. "Li Huowang, I know you must have heard something, but don't forget, you have a disorder, a very severe mental illness. It's very normal to have auditory and visual hallucinations."

"What you're hearing and what you're imagining now, they could all be false."

"Really? The same hallucination twice? Do you believe that yourself? And!! I'm not sick! I'm just temporarily trapped in the crevice between two worlds!" Li Huowang said, reaching into his chest pocket.

Yi Donglai sighed softly, showing a hint of helplessness on his face. After pondering a few words in his heart, he said, "I remember telling you this, but even if what you say is true, you are still a Fate Commander with mental illness."

"Remember the three companions you imagined in the White Tower prison area? You really are ill, there's no doubt about it."

"Illness needs treatment. After all the trouble, you came to find me. Isn't it to treat you?"

Hearing this, Li Huowang stood stunned for a while, his previously certain thoughts suddenly becoming unstable.

He glanced again at the other people at the door, then slowly walked back to sit beside the stool.

Now before him were only two possibilities: one is false, his own hallucination, which needn't be mentioned; the other is true, and that would be a big problem.

However, for Li Huowang now, there's a way to determine the authenticity of the voice.

"Alright, Doctor Yi, I'll set aside this question for now. I'll first accept your treatment. If after the treatment, this voice still exists! Then there must be a problem with it!"

Saying so, Li Huowang turned his head to Zhao Shuangdian. "Please keep an eye outside, I'm not afraid of anything else, just worried it's a trick from Fusheng Heaven."

Now the only one with a deep grudge against him is Fusheng Heaven's Fate Commander. The Heavenly Dao they control is very strange, and it's hard for Li Huowang not to speculate that this is a conspiracy of theirs to drive him insane through this method!

"But if this voice is real, then..." Li Huowang's expression became conflicted, his mood growing intensely irritable.

"If all this is false, then what meaning does everything I've done hold?" A strong sense of helplessness rose in Li Huowang's mind.

"No...! Steady, I must stay calm, now is not the time to think about this, no matter what, I must first rid myself of Fusheng Heaven's influence!"

"I won't give in easily! No matter what I face next!"

Taking several deep breaths to steady his mind, Li Huowang said, "Everyone else, please leave. I need to receive the treatment first."

The others left in twos and threes, but just as Yang Na was about to leave, Li Huowang stopped her. "Nana, don't go, stay here first."

There's another possibility in this situation: that all this is a trick of Yi Donglai, bearing a grudge against being kidnapped by him.

Though this possibility is very small, Li Huowang could not afford to be careless.

"Nana, keep an eye on Doctor Yi for me. If anything unusual happens, wake me immediately." Li Huowang whispered, pulling Yang Na to a corner of the room.

"Okay." Yang Na nodded gently, reaching back to gently touch the pistol behind her.

Once only three people remained in the room, Yi Donglai began the treatment again. "Li Huowang, close your eyes again, calm your mind, and fully immerse yourself in my descriptions."

Li Huowang followed suit, doing his best to calm his mind and let his thoughts follow Yi Donglai's descriptions.

"Now, imagine you're standing on a pagoda, ready to descend the stairs back to the grassland below. This staircase has ten steps; I'll guide you down one step at a time. Each step you take further into a hypnotic state, your body feeling lighter and more comfortable, your mind becoming more serene and tranquil..."

Li Huowang stood atop the pagoda, descending step by step towards the grassland below. When he stood on the sunlit green grassland, he immediately felt a much-improved mood.

The whole grassland was filled with birdsong and flowers, and Li Huowang even felt he wanted to stay there forever.

But ultimately, he started to move, continuing to walk along the green grassland. After an unknown amount of time, two paths appeared before him in the forest.

One was larger, the other smaller. The larger path was covered with thorns, but looked brighter from afar, while the smaller path appeared very quiet, yet looked darker in the distance.

Li Huowang hesitated for a while in the middle of the road, then walked towards the larger path.

After an unknown length of time walking, Li Huowang saw a dog whose head and tail were joined. As the dog wriggled, it constantly moved closer to Li Huowang, finally becoming a giant mask through continuous twisting.

The mask looked very pained, trying hard to say something, but its gaping mouth made no sound.

The big face gradually grew larger, becoming bigger and bigger until it covered all of Li Huowang's vision.

The grooves on the face turned into a dirt road, and Li Huowang began to walk along this dirt road, continuing forward.
