The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 966 Ji Zai

"Dad?" Half-melted, Li Sui looked up in shock, staring at Li Huowang amidst the bloody storm in front of her.

Seeing the Copper Coin mask on that person's face and the signature red Taoist Robe he wore, Li Sui's eyes welled up with tears, feeling an incomparable sense of peace.

That was truly her dad! Her dad had really come to rescue her! The pain she felt on her body proved this wasn't a dream, it was real!

"Dad! I really missed you!!" Li Sui cried out hoarsely towards that red Taoist Robe.

"It's okay!! Suisui! It's alright! I'm here! As long as I'm around, no one will dare to bully my daughter!" Li Huowang shouted reassurance while slaughtering those around him.

Faced with such formidable strength, no one present could stand against Li Huowang and were being forced to retreat step by step.

Seeing that Li Sui was about to be freed, someone from the Astrological Bureau who had dealt with Xinsu before spotted the anomaly and thought of a countermeasure.

"Hey! Monster! Look clearly! That's not your dad! This person is fake! Something you constructed!"

"If he's your dad, have you thought about why he didn't help in past years? Why must he appear today?"

Xinsu is strong yet fragile, which entirely depends on whether he believes in what he has constructed.

Upon hearing these words, Li Sui's expression immediately stiffened as she began to think deeply.

Noticing some inconsistencies appearing on Li Huowang's distant body, the unease in Li Sui's heart intensified.

With this thought, Li Huowang's body started to become gradually transparent in the distance.

Seeing this, Li Sui panicked. "It's not true! This is my dad; he came to save me! My dad is real, he's not something I created!"

Understanding what the other party intended to do, Li Sui kept repeating in her heart, attempting to make Li Huowang come back.

Even if her dad was fake, it could at least help her through this crisis.

However, some things can deceive others, but you cannot deceive yourself. Fake is fake, and even though Li Sui kept repeating to herself, Li Huowang eventually disappeared without a trace.

The heavily wounded Astrological Bureau members surrounded her with anger, and if it was business as usual before, now it was infused with several personal vendettas.

With the situation suddenly flipped, Li Sui's life became precarious.

A mouthful of phlegm was spat onto Li Sui. "Damn, the thing I hate most is Xinsu! Aren't you imaginative? Aren't you quite imaginative? Huh? Keep imagining then!"

A flash of cold light swept by, instantly severing several of Li Sui's half-melted tentacles. "Can't call for reinforcements? Keep calling then!"

As they vented their anger, Li Sui's pain increased sharply, yet this time not a single tear fell.

In this desperate situation, Li Sui suddenly realized she had always neglected her identity, neglected her identity as Xinsu.

Dad was also Xinsu, just like her, and he had repeatedly escaped certain death using the abilities of Xinsu, so she could too! This was her only chance to escape.

But now she needed to figure out how to utilize Xinsu's abilities.

This wasn't easy to use because if she, being Xinsu, knew everything, it wouldn't work; she must deceive herself.

As her injuries worsened and her mind became increasingly fuzzy, a water reflection suddenly flashed in Li Sui's mind, or more precisely, a Fate Commander or Ji Zai, this utterly worthless Fate Commander as per her dad!

"My dad is Ji Zai, so if there's no future for Fate Commanders, as long as I believe Ji Zai exists, my dad will definitely come to help me!! For sure!"

This was both a lie and the truth; whether it was true or false, she couldn't tell.

But she desperately believed it to be true, because only then could she survive!

As Li Sui repeated this mantra, with her consciousness beginning to fade, she never stopped, and just as she was on the brink of death, the situation suddenly changed.

Though nothing visibly happened, everyone present showed strong bewilderment on their faces, as if forgetting what to do next in that instant.

"Ji... Ji Zai! Ji Zai truly exists! Even from a hundred and eighty years ago!" Li Sui suddenly became excited; her life shouldn't end here! She must live to see dad appear again!

Seeing everyone frozen where they stood, such a good opportunity couldn't be missed. Seizing this moment while they were dazed, Li Sui dragged her battered body and hurriedly left the area of calamity.

Li Sui didn't know how long the memory of Ji Zai could last, so she fled desperately, fleeing for half a month before finally stopping, ensuring she was truly safe.

This time, Li Sui dared not easily approach crowded places anymore; she took over a cave inhabited by man-bears as her temporary resting place.

The man-bear wasn't wasted either; it made for a nice extra meal for Li Sui.

After eating and drinking her fill, and having a good sleep in the cave, the fatigue from her journey gradually faded away.

Once fully rested, Li Sui began plotting in her mind.

Recalling what had happened before, Li Sui suddenly moved, picking up a piece of wood from outside the cave, starting to carve it with a small knife. Before long, a tablet appeared before her.

"Ji Zai, Seat of the Bewildered Fate Commander."

Li Sui placed the tablet inside the cave, took out three pine needles to light, and solemnly bowed to the tablet, placing the pine needles in front of it.

After inserting the incense, Li Sui knelt down and performed a ritual of three bows and nine kowtows towards the tablet, muttering as she did so.

"Since others worship the Fate Commanders to gain power from them, from this day forth, I shall worship you. From now on, I'm your disciple, Ji Zai."

"If I worship you now, you should impart me with some Divine Skills, right? I don't need anything too powerful; I just want to preserve my life."

"It would be best if there's a way to conceal my identity as Xinsu, that would be even better!"

As soon as Li Sui finished bowing to the tablet, it shimmered slightly, and Li Sui felt a certain Cultivation Method appear in her mind.

After examining it carefully, Li Sui found it to be a type of illusion technique. Once mastered, she could completely use this illusion technique to hide her identity as Xinsu.

A wave of warmth surged in Li Sui's heart; her dad hadn't forgotten her, still helping her, even if he had turned into a Fate Commander.

As long as her Xinsu identity wasn't exposed, she wouldn't be hunted anymore.

And as long as she wasn't hunted, she wouldn't be forced to possess others continually, so when she met dad again, she wouldn't have turned into another person.

Thinking about the future, Li Sui smiled happily. Things were finally looking up!!
