Chapter 899: Dark Channel
Upon hearing Li Huowang's words, Qing Wanglai chuckled and pushed the bridge of his glasses with his finger, "Secret."
After speaking, he walked over and, along with Wu Qi, helped Li Huowang up.
"You can communicate with them, so why not try to reconcile? What do they want? Or do you have some other purpose?"
"If I could do that, I would have done it a long time ago. It's too late now. After the last time, it's already a fight to the death."
At this moment, Wu Qi reminded Qing Wanglai, "Be careful, his ribs are broken."
"It's okay, it's not from a rock. A lunatic smashed them before. I can walk on my own." Li Huowang pushed them away, staggering alongside the others out of there.
Although he was injured, Li Huowang's emotions were much more stable compared to before. He knew that what he'd seen earlier wasn't entirely hallucinations; Chen Hongyu hadn't died. She was only projected into some other form of existence.
Vaguely, Li Huowang seemed to discover some patterns. Some parts of these people's worldview were false, yet some indeed existed.
For example, Qing Wanglai's projection theory had been verified on Chen Hongyu.
"Are you okay?" Li Huowang quickly walked forward, bent down, and picked up a fat gray rat lying on the moss.
It wasn't dead; it seemed to have been knocked unconscious by a powerful impact.
Li Huowang placed it on his shoulder, ignoring the muttered discussions behind him, and walked towards the outside.
Once back on the hot gobi desert, this time it was Qing Wanglai leading the way. Fortunately, there was some truth to what he said earlier. After walking for about an hour along the direction of the collapse, a pitch-black wellhead appeared before Li Huowang.
"The previous collapse was probably a kilometer away. Going in from here, we won't be blocked." Qing Wanglai said, putting away the Compass he held.
"Unfortunately, we have a problem: we don't know if those people will ambush us below, so we need someone to scout ahead."
The cave entrance was deep and dark, with no known conditions inside.
Everyone present looked at each other, eventually turning their gaze towards Li Huowang.
"Why must it be me going down? Do I have 'gullible fool' written on my face?" Li Huowang retorted.
Qing Wanglai persuaded, "Li Huowang, it's not just for others, but also for yourself. Your equipment is naturally more defensive than ours. If you help, I can promise you one thing."
"Sorry, but I'm not interested in fresh promises. If you want fairness, let's draw lots."
Ever since seeing how they used Chen Hongyu, Li Huowang had been completely disillusioned with these people.
Thinking of this, Li Huowang lowered his head to look at the rat in his hand, realizing that it had already woken up and was sniffing around curiously.
He reached out to touch the rat's head and suddenly recalled something with a hint of fear, his expression turning startled.
He quickly walked up to Zhao Lei, holding the rat out to him and asked emotionally, "Can you see it? Tell me quickly! Can you see this rat?"
Zhao Lei jumped back, retreating several steps. "I can see it! I can see it! Li Huowang, what's wrong with you? You're getting crazier."
"Seeing it is good, at least it's not my hallucination." Li Huowang gently stroked the rat's head, breathing a sigh of relief.
At this moment, he froze for a moment, then walked with the rat towards Qing Wanglai and Chen Hongyu, who were conversing. "I can go down and scout ahead, but when we return, you have to help me with something."
"What is it?" Zhao Shuangdian asked.
"I need you to help me regularly obtain the prescription medication Yi Donglai prescribed." Li Huowang knew he couldn't continue like this; it wasn't viable to always confuse reality with illusion.
Since he indeed was ill, the medication was definitely necessary, even if it didn't cure him, at least to stabilize the condition, preventing hallucinations from appearing again.
Qing Wanglai and Zhao Shuangdian exchanged a glance and nodded simultaneously, "Alright."
Upon hearing this, Li Huowang turned around without hesitation and headed towards the wellhead.
He placed his legs against the sides of the well wall, looking down into the dark environment below, as a chilly wind blew from inside with an unsettling air. "Burning stick."
As Li Huowang reached for the burning stick, the rat in his hand struggled out of Li Huowang's grip and leapt down towards the cave entrance.
Just as Li Huowang wanted to stop it, the rat had already vanished into the darkness.
After a few seconds pause, Li Huowang shouted down towards the well, "Chen Jie!! What's it like down there? Is there an ambush?"
Upon hearing some faint squeaking sounds of rats, Li Huowang released his grip and swiftly descended downward.
Just upon landing, Li Huowang immediately raised the burning stick, and the blinding red light instantly illuminated everything around him.
Seeing no enemies nearby, Li Huowang waved the burning stick to signal others to come down.
Taking advantage of others coming down, Li Huowang spoke to the departing rat, "Chen Jie, thanks, but next time in situations like this, you don't have to help me, I can handle it myself."
"Who are you talking to?" Wu Qi, descending the rope, looked at Li Huowang with some concern.
Li Huowang shook his head, offering no explanation, as others certainly wouldn't believe what he said.
"Stay alert, we've already startled the snake. They'll definitely be more vigilant," Zhao Shuangdian said, walking at the forefront.
"Are you sure we have enough people? It seems they outnumber us significantly." Previously, Zhao Shuangdian talked of surprise attacks, and Li Huowang thought they had an advantage. But now, it seemed like they were on a suicide mission.
Zhao Shuangdian shook her head. "They're not as formidable as you think, nor are we as weak as you think. Last time we hurt them, now they're scared."
Saying that, she spoke again to Li Huowang, "You don't have to force yourself to understand me, that's okay. You can use the worldview you understand to interpret things."
"Whether it's an ivory or an elephant leg, both are part of an elephant and are interconnected."
"Whatever I am in your world, then that's what I am."
Li Huowang looked at her delicate profile, "I hope to know, but right now I really don't know what Fate Commander you are."
The underground passage gradually quieted down. To avoid being discovered, even flashlights were turned off, and everyone moved forward in the dark.
After about half an hour, the air was filled with a mixture of metallic smell and a burnt, sour stench.
The smell was hard to bear, even with Li Huowang wearing a helmet.
Qing Wanglai's lowered voice reached Li Huowang's ears, "This is the smell of methamphetamine, we're almost there."
