The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 85: Descend the Mountain

"Fetch something?" Hearing Master Jingxin's words, Li Huowang's mind raced with thoughts.

Seeing Li Huowang looking somewhat grave, Jingxin began to explain.

"Don't think I'm using this as an excuse to get rid of your master. That item is key. Without it, no matter who comes, they can't separate your master from you. He's stuck too close to you, way too close. I can even smell his scent on you now."

Her words made Li Huowang's mood even heavier. After thinking for a moment, he spoke again, "Master Jingxin, this should be the last condition, right?"

Seeing her nod in affirmation, Li Huowang took a deep breath and said, "Okay! It's a deal. What is the item you want?"

He wasn't afraid of her setting terms; he was afraid she wouldn't keep her word. As long as there were terms, it was still within the realm of trade.

At least, from what he could see so far, the dying Li Zhi hadn't lied; the nuns of An Ci Nunnery could indeed be considered good people in some sense.

In this bizarre world, such people were hard to find.

And now he had no other choice; if he looked for other solutions, Master Danyang might reach him first.

"A pair of eyes, a very peculiar and evil pair of eyes. Two hundred miles east from Henghua Mountain, there is a forest. Go there and bring back the Evil Spirit," Jingxin stated her final condition.

"Evil Spirit? What kind? What abilities does it have?" Li Huowang wanted to know what he was up against.

"It's called the Eighteenth of the Twelfth Lunar Month. It's very strange. Every year on the eighteenth of the twelfth lunar month, it changes—not just in appearance but also its Divine Skills. I don't even know what it looks like now. Just remember it's red."

"As for how you're going to take those eyes, you'll have to figure it out yourself. You already have the Great Thousand Record with you, are you still worried you can't handle it? Besides, would your master, on his path to becoming an immortal, really let you die?"

"The Eighteenth of the Twelfth Lunar Month? That's a name?"

Li Huowang frowned, just like this? No hints at all, and he was supposed to deal with some kind of Evil Spirit? Wouldn't he be completely blind there?

He didn't want Master Danyang to make another move. If he did, heaven knows who his body would belong to.

"Is it possible to ask the masters of the nunnery for help? I am open to negotiating other matters."

"Hehe, they are lazy, extremely lazy. If you've got the skill, try persuading them to move. Besides, you don't have the money to hire them to leave the mountain now, do you? Hehehe," Master Jingxin jestingly teased her juniors.

Since the target had been confirmed, Li Huowang didn't dawdle any longer. After confirming the location of the Eighteenth of the Twelfth Lunar Month with Jingxin once more, he courteously bowed to her and turned to leave.

"I won't disturb Master Jingxin's meal any longer. I will go down and have the gold sent up immediately."

"Ah, by the way, I smelled the scent of persimmons on you. I love persimmons the most, so remember to send me some too."

"Understood," he replied. He was giving up all the gold, so what was a little food.

As Li Huowang turned and left, the room fell back into darkness.

However, Jingxin, who was already blind, was not affected. She reached out with her black and greasy right hand, digging into the greasy folds of her flesh.

After searching for a while, with a "plop," a shriveled old man with withered limbs and a balding head, covered in putrid ooze, was pulled out.

This extremely withered old man had a crooked mouth and squinted eyes and was occasionally mumbling something.

Gently, Jingxin cradled him in her pus-dripping arms, mouth-to-mouth, feeding him the food from the basin.

"My child, did you hear that? In a few days, you'll have persimmons to eat, hehehe, aren't you happy? I still remember how much you loved persimmons when you wore split pants."

The elderly man showed no reaction to Jingxin's voice and unconsciously vomited the food in his mouth.

Jingxin, as if not noticing, continued with the same action.

"Did you see that? This boy is just like you, with a pure heart. But he's going to end up much worse than you. You had me, but he doesn't have a mother. Who knows what fate awaits him... poor kid..."

Inside the Penglai Guesthouse, Bai Lingmiao, completely bare, sighed lightly with her arms resting on the edge of the wooden tub, "I wonder how Li Zhi is doing. It would have been nice to go up with him earlier."

"Should I tell him? If I did, wouldn't he worry about me? But he already has enough to worry about."

After pondering for a long time and feeling the water in the tub cooling, Bai Lingmiao stood up from the petal-filled water, got dressed, and headed to the bedroom.

"Never mind, if he doesn't come down in three days, I'll definitely go looking for him. Who says I'm a burden?"

The creak of the door sounded as Bai Lingmiao closed it. Once the door was shut, a bizarre woman appeared behind it, wearing a red veil, a colorful striped skirt, and red embroidered shoes.

Entering the room, Bai Lingmiao lifted the blanket, a playful look on her face, and she dove in, firmly embracing the person inside.

"I love Sister Man the most; so fluffy and comfy to hug."

Man turned around to face the silver-haired girl, feeling her gentle breath up close.

"What's good about this? Because of these black hairs, people think I'm a monster. Even men over sixty wouldn't dare to marry me."

"Don't worry, Sister Man, you'll definitely find your perfect match," Bai Lingmiao reassured as she gently rubbed the other's black hair.

"No need, I despise men. I want to be a spinster!" Man said decisively. "I don't need a man to live."

"Why do you say that, Sister Man?" Bai Lingmiao asked, eyes widening in surprise. She wanted to ask if it was because of her father but stopped herself before the words left her mouth.

Seeing Man turn away to present her back again, Bai Lingmiao reached out her arms and gently embraced her.

"Sister Man, if you ever have nowhere to go, come to my home. How about being a godmother to my child in the future?"

Man didn't respond, but doubt flickered in her eyes as she gazed at the wall ahead. "Are you really planning to marry Li Zhi?"

Bai Lingmiao didn't answer, instead playfully punching the person beneath the blanket.

"Why not think it over? I'm saying this for your own good. Though Li Zhi has been kind to us, you don't necessarily have to repay him in this way. After all, he... he's that kind of person."
