Chapter 484: Arrival
"Brother Li, is that you?"
Bai Lingmiao reached out to touch that bundle of something's face, and gradually everything around him began to coalesce, forming into that familiar visage.
Seeing this scene, a smile immediately appeared on her face, it seemed that she still needed to get used to this ability.
"Miaomiao, can you see now? Can you really see?!" Li Huowang stared into her eyes and asked excitedly.
"I don't know if this counts as seeing, but... at least I can do the same things as before, and at least now I'm not a burden anymore," Bai Lingmiao stood up, walking in circles inside the room, feeling the wonder of it all.
She could not only see the outside, but even the insides of some things, especially moving objects, with great clarity.
For example, she could clearly "see" the insects and ants on the dwarf tree outside the courtyard.
Gradually, Bai Lingmiao grew fond of this sensation, which was far better than the complete darkness where she could see nothing at all.
"Brother Li, I can see now, I really can see! I can't thank you enough!" Bai Lingmiao's expression became even more joyful.
When he saw her smiling face, Li Huowang felt that all the hardships were worth it. At least through his own efforts, he was making the life of the person beside him better and better.
After watching Bai Lingmiao, who looked like a white butterfly, spin around joyfully for a while, Li Huowang finally spoke, "Alright, take a rest now, you're going to get dizzy if you keep spinning."
As he spoke, Li Huowang uncovered the two roast geese wrapped in lotus leaves on the table, "Come! To celebrate your eyes being healed, let's have roast goose today! I heard this shop uses lychee wood for roasting, which gives an especially good flavor, a delicacy of the Capital City."
"Daddy, I want some too."
"If you want some, go get your own bowl and chopsticks,"
Just as the family of three were rarely sharing a joyful meal together, a knocking sound came from the courtyard gate. "Is Er Jiu at home? It's me, your auntie, Lian Zhibei."
Hearing this familiar name, Li Huowang's brow immediately furrowed. Wasn't this person supposed to go pick up his mother? What nonsense was she up to now?
By the time Li Huowang opened the door, the elderly plump woman immediately started babbling non-stop.
"You see, I went down a dead end before, there was no need to have my sister come over here. I've cut off your wife's connection with the Immortal Sects. Just give me the Jade Token, and that will settle it," she said.
Just as Li Huowang was about to say something, he suddenly heard two sets of footsteps from behind him.
"Brother Li, why has this auntie come too? Why not invite her to have roast goose with us?" Bai Lingmiao said hospitably, in high spirits.
As she was saying this, Second God whispered in her ear.
"Why should I go inside first? Didn't we have a guest at home?"
"Miaomiao, you should go inside first, it's for your own good," Second God said softly.
When Bai Lingmiao heard Li Huowang also saying this, she stopped talking, nodded silently and walked back into the house.
"Have you finished negotiating? If you're done, then let's get started!" Lian Zhibei spoke as she attempted to walk inside, but was directly blocked by Li Huowang.
He silently turned his head to look at Second God and after a long while, he spoke, "You understand what this means for you, don't you?"
"I know, if I can remove the essence of the Immortal Sects from Miaomiao, I can fully merge with Miaomiao again," Second God's voice came from beneath the red veil.
That was certainly one way to put it, but Li Huowang's feelings towards Second God were complex. He didn't know whether to treat her as an independent individual or as a part of Bai Lingmiao.
If he treated her as an individual, did that mean that by doing this, she would die?
"Besides, if the Immortal Sects aren't eliminated, won't they always be a hidden threat? Surely you don't want to keep such a huge threat by your side every day?"
"Miaomiao might not agree, but don't worry, I'll persuade her."
"Are you coming or not? How are we going to do this? Speak up, do you want to drive me crazy?"
Lian Zhibei had no idea about the intricacies involved and was afraid that Li Huowang might change his mind.
"Let's go, this way." Second God nodded at her and led her towards the house.
"Alright! Wait here for me, I'll take your wife to get ready. You wait outside," Lian Zhibei said in a flurry, following Second God inside.
When the lamp inside the room was lit, Bai Lingmiao suddenly became nervous. Although they had gotten to know each other along the way, she still felt uneasy being alone with her.
"Miss, why are you standing there dumbfounded? Hurry up and take off your clothes."
"Ah? Do I... have to take off my clothes?" Although her senior brother had told her to listen to her, Bai Lingmiao was still very nervous about such a request.
"Of course, you do. Why are you so shy? We're all women here, hurry up."
"Oh..." Just as Bai Lingmiao awkwardly began to undo her clothes, Lian Zhibei suddenly rushed to her side, whispering in her ear, "The curtain hides the night snow on Jade Peak, and the blue water's presence brings everlasting autumn moss!"
Clearly startled by her actions, Bai Lingmiao stepped back repeatedly, "Granny, what are you talking about?"
"You don't know? You truly don't know?" Lian Zhibei asked excitedly once again.
"Know what?" Suddenly, Li Huowang's voice came from behind her, and Lian Zhibei's heart jolted.
As she turned her head around, she pretended to be impatient and said, "Ugh, this is all part of the preparations. Didn't I tell you to wait outside? Why did you come in again?"
"She's my wife. What does it matter if she undresses? Why should I leave?"
"She might not need to leave, but I have to undress too. Am I your wife as well?" Lian Zhibei said, and with that, she took off her top, revealing a bulging yellow bellyband stuffed with fat.
Li Huowang stared at her and said word by word, "Don't create unnecessary complications!"
With those threatening words, Li Huowang then turned to Bai Lingmiao, whose face was flushed with embarrassment, and said, "I'll be right outside the door. I can hear everything that goes on. If something happens, just shout."
"Okay...."
Li Huowang opened the door and pulled Li Sui, who was waiting outside, into the room. "Watch the fat woman. If anything seems off, just bite her!"
"Yes, Dad."
After Li Huowang had made all the arrangements, he returned to the main hall.
He had just become absolutely certain that Lian Zhibei had said a couple of incomprehensible lines to Bai Lingmiao, and it definitely was not any kind of preparation.
Based on her tone and demeanor, it seemed more like some kind of secret code.
It appeared that Lian Zhibei had some other ulterior motive; if it weren't for the fact that she truly had a way to help Bai Lingmiao escape from the Immortal Sects, Li Huowang really did not want her to have too much contact with Bai Lingmiao.
After a while, the two of them came out. Lian Zhibei was holding a large bag of things – it was unclear where she had hidden them before.
But Li Huowang's attention was fully on Bai Lingmiao. At that moment, aside from wearing a yellow bellyband covered in runes, she had nothing else on.
On Bai Lingmiao's skin, as smooth as lamb fat, were all sorts of twisted characters drawn with red cinnabar. The white and the red intertwined, giving off an exceptionally bizarre aura with a hint of enchantment.
