The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 429 Mahjong Suits

Li Huowang looked up, utterly stunned by the giant eye in the sky.

As the divinatory symbols in the sky kept shifting and changing, the huge vertical pupil sometimes looked left, sometimes right, and followed the dark clouds as they gradually pressed lower.

There was no emotion in that eye, the only thing that could be felt from it was suffocating chaos.

Chaos should not be seen with the naked eye, but at this moment, Li Huowang was certain that what he was seeing was indeed an eye of chaos.

From this eyeball, a strange chant wafted, causing Li Huowang to cover his ears in agony.

He remembered this chanting! He had heard it once over a hundred miles away in the Capital City, and now it seemed that this was the source!

Compared to the mildness before, the sound here was undoubtedly much louder, a fact proven by the people around Li Huowang who had covered their ears and died violently.

"What is that eye?! Is it the Fate Commander? No! If it were the Fate Commander, why didn't I see it in the White Jade Capital!! What the hell is it!"

"Did the Emperor of Da Liang bring it here? Is this the purpose of the entire formation? What on earth does this guy want to do with this thing!"

"No, that's wrong, this has nothing to do with me, I'm here to search for Xinsu Bei Feng!"

Li Huowang, with a painful grip on his head, looked down at the ground before him, where a towering Golden Tree stood.

The main trunk of the Golden Tree was not thick; it appeared tall and slender, like a pillar reaching into the heavens.

Within Li Huowang's view, tiny figures were fighting around this colossal tree.

After gazing for a short while, Li Huowang stopped with a headache. The sound was just too loud, too overwhelming for any of his emotions to remain stable even for a moment.

"I can't go on like this! If this continues, I won't even be able to get close!"

Li Huowang quickly pulled out a sharp spike from the hem of his clothes and fiercely stabbed it into his left ear, stirring it around while enduring the excruciating pain.

Then he tore off some scraps of cloth from his own clothes and stuffed them into his right ear.

Though somewhat bloody, Li Huowang's improvised method was effective, as the noise in his ears was significantly reduced.

Although it was still loud, at least Li Huowang's emotions could remain stable and not be easily scattered by the sound.

Li Huowang clenched his teeth tightly and took trembling steps toward that huge trunk,

As Li Huowang gradually approached, everything in the distance became clearer. The tree wasn't adorned with leaves but rather with rows of Six-Clawed Golden Dragons.

These dragons were not alive, yet they looked incredibly agonized. Their dragon scales were turned inside out, with various twisted horns and spikes emerging, and Swastika symbols rudely thrusting into their flesh.

The dragons were contorted together, their crowns filled with sharp branches, and each of their faces was covered by the large faces from the walls of the Imperial Palace, making it appear as though each dragon had a human face, a truly bizarre sight.

Built amongst the branches near the lower part of these dragon crowns was a solemn, majestic platform. Li Huowang saw several people there.

Ignoring the eunuchs with horsetail whisks and others in various attires, his attention was drawn to the man in a Dragon Robe, the Emperor of Da Liang.

And the Emperor of Da Liang, wearing his grand yellow Dragon Robe, was silently gazing at the enemies beneath the tree.

Li Huowang couldn't see his face, as it was completely shielded by the diadem. Gold beads strung along it hung from top to bottom, covering the Emperor's head thoroughly.

"Where is Bei Feng? Where is Bei Feng?" Li Huowang, in stealth, scrutinized the area under the huge Golden Tree.

Those people seemed to want to climb up those Golden Dragons towards the pavilion at the top.

But a group of eunuchs dressed in black, hanging upside down from silk threads, kept descending, brandishing various Weapons Artifacts, and pushed back those trying to climb up.

The faces of those climbing would occasionally distort among the chanting, revealing their true mahjong-like patterns underneath, which made Li Huowang realize they were from the Oblivion Path.

What was unexpected was that the battle between the two sides did not seem very fierce; it was as if both parties were waiting for something.

Li Huowang lay on the ground, struggling to watch the distance, still remembering the ability of Xinsu Bei Feng—he could swap bodies with others.

As the critical moment arrived, Li Huowang was not anxious, but endured the uncomfortable chanting and patiently searched among those from the Oblivion Path.

Slowly and carefully scrutinizing dozens of people from the Oblivion Path, Li Huowang finally locked onto four Bei Fengs.

"Wait a moment! Four Bei Fengs?" Li Huowang almost thought he had seen wrong, but after careful observation, he indeed found that under the strange chanting, there were four faces with the pattern of Bei Feng.

"Forget it, four is four, but how can I find the only Xinsu among them?" Li Huowang had some difficulty looking at the situation in the distance.

Moreover, at this time, with the fighting not intense enough, it was not the moment for him to muddy the waters; rushing in now would only get him hit from both sides.

"What to do? They are all here, should I... ask Zhuge Yuan for help?"

Thinking of Zhuge Yuan's face, Li Huowang hesitated, pulling him into this dangerous situation was like dragging him into a pit of fire.

"No, wait and see."

Just as Li Huowang was thinking this, the Emperor of Da Liang, standing on top of the pavilion, began to speak.

"Are you still not satisfied? Do you really think I am unaware that you would come to disrupt? No matter what you plot, even if you throw all your dice and join with those barbarians harboring ill intentions, you will not stop my plan!"

The majestic and deep voice entered the hearts of everyone present, stirring in each a varying degree of fear, and those with weaker resolve already began to turn and leave.

Hearing this speech, the members of the Oblivion Path did not seem afraid at all; instead, they loudly mocked him, occasionally mimicking his tone and rhetoric in a weird and mocking way.

"Hmph!" A cold snort spread like a shockwave all around, and the Emperor of Da Liang slightly turned his body.

"State Preceptor, your efforts are needed."

As an old man trembling with age, holding a Longsword inscribed with the Twenty-Eight Constellations, stood atop the pavilion, there was new activity from the western Golden Wall.

Li Huowang also turned towards the sound. He saw a massive Golden Wall collapse, and Zhuge Yuan, clad in the attire of a Scholar, appeared before everyone.

Carrying a Judge's brush, his expression was solemn, and he swiftly charged forward, as if he was pursuing someone in Da Qi.

And from in front of him, like beans spilling out of a bag, people continuously popped out.

As expected, all of them had mahjong tile heads; they were from the Oblivion Path.

With the number of people increasing, Li Huowang felt his heart sinking. "This is impossible! This is too many, it has already exceeded the number of tiles in a mahjong set!!"

And some of the patterns were exceedingly strange—plum, orchid, bamboo, and chrysanthemum, as well as the spring, summer, autumn, and winter cards were one thing, but there were even figures with the likeness of the God of Wealth, as well as cat and mouse mahjong patterns!

"Hehehe, why not? You lack experience, don't you? The mahjong of Da Liang indeed does not have them, but the mahjong of Da Qi does," said Huan Jue Hong Zhong, looking smug.
