The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 407: Target

At the instant he saw the shadow play, Li Huowang immediately sensed something was amiss and instantly heard a whooshing sound coming from behind him.

As Li Huowang turned around, Li Sui's tentacles, clutching various torture instruments, blocked a huge and heavy Mo Blade.

The floorboards completely failed to withstand such heavy force and Li Huowang's footing broke apart in an instant, causing him to fall through due to the immense pressure from the Mo Blade.

When Li Huowang stood up in the lower level of the wooden building, he saw two Oblivion Path members, one on each side looking at him with bloodied Mahjong tiles as faces, one with an eight and the other with a nine.

Although they were covered in fire just like Li Huowang with their skin rapidly blistering and charring, there was not a hint of pain on their faces.

Perhaps due to Zhuge Yuan's Almanac, they did not say a word to Li Huowang.

The two Oblivion members were tall, each with a Mo Blade over a zhang in length, stationed like door gods possessed.

"Where did you swindle these weapons from? The Military clan, right? Which Military clan!"

As Li Huowang's roar rang out, the two Oblivion members stomped with a single foot, charging at Li Huowang with intense ferocity.

"Clang, clang, clang!" Li Huowang was instantly knocked flying, but seeing the huge dent on the opponent's Mo Blade, a smile appeared on Li Huowang's face, which was wrapped in flames, knowing that their weapon was far less sharp than his own Purple Tassel Sword.

"Li Sui, catch the sword!" Li Huowang thrust the Copper Coin Sword into Li Sui's tentacles.

Then Li Huowang, with one hand wielding the Purple Tassel Sword, charged at one of the Oblivion members.

Just before the two crossed blades, Li Huowang swiftly cut off three of his own fingers.

Taking advantage of the moment his opponent was distracted by his fingers, Li Huowang swung his sword to attack.

Seeing his companion in danger, the other Oblivion member tried to come to the rescue, but Li Sui's tentacles wielding the Copper Coin Sword and various torture instruments kept him from getting close.

Even though some were cut off, more black tentacles would still emerge from Li Huowang's riddled body.

"Clang, clang, clang!!" Sparks flew amidst the flames, and with the final strike, the huge Mo Blade wielded by the opponent was cleaved in two by Li Huowang. Li Huowang then twisted his wrist holding the sword and pierced the enemy's throat with a single thrust.

Li Huowang slowly turned and threatened the other Oblivion Daoist, "Drop the blade, and I will spare your life!"

At these words, the Oblivion Daoist standing with the huge Mo Blade paused for a moment, then fell straight backward.

When Li Huowang quickly approached, he discovered the Oblivion Daoist had been burned alive; the two were not immune to fire damage but had simply made a last-ditch effort before being consumed by the flames.

Li Huowang, who had been ready to interrogate for more details, was suddenly infuriated and viciously kicked the corpse.

He had originally thought that the Oblivion Daoist pretending to be the Da Qi Emperor held the highest status, but since they died so easily, it seemed that these two were merely pawns within Oblivion Path.

With a "clang," the dark red, scorched Copper Coin Sword fell to the ground, and Li Sui's still-burning tentacles hurriedly retracted into Li Huowang's body.

"Father.... sob sob sob..... it hurts..... so painful...."

"I know, you've worked hard. Next time when I'm on fire, try not to come out," Li Huowang responded.

Picking up the Copper Coin Sword, Li Huowang quickly headed back. He had to deal with these Oblivion members before the fire died out.

However, when he returned to the Liang residence, he was shocked to find that both the eunuchs and the brocade-clad guards were nowhere to be seen.

If it wasn't for the massive bonfire still burning behind him, Li Huowang would have wondered if he had experienced a hallucination.

As Li Huowang approached Zhuge Yuan, he saw the latter rolling up a landscape painting.

"Brother Li, how did you know these people were from Oblivion Path? From such a distance, I nearly got fooled by them," Zhuge Yuan expressed his amazement.

"I didn't know. It was either Oblivion Path or the walking corpse Emperor of Da Qi you mentioned. No matter which one, saying they were from Oblivion Path was always correct. If the Da Qi Emperor has discovered your rebellion, could there still be a peaceful end?" Li Huowang replied.

"Ah~ I see, Brother Li is so wise; I truly admire you," Zhuge Yuan said as he held the painting, bowing his hands in respect toward Li Huowang.

After another look around and seeing no one else, Li Huowang asked with confusion, "Brother Zhuge, where did those Oblivion Daoists go?"

"They? They've all left."

"Left? After we finally encountered the followers of the Oblivion Path, how could we let them just slip away? Should have at least kept one alive!"

Hearing this, Li Huowang felt the fire within him and on his body suddenly flare up.

"Brother Li, keep calm, would you mind first retracting your Divine Skills? Looks quite painful." Zhuge Yuan took a step back, his face reddening from the heat.

So angry he could hardly speak, Li Huowang looked around and then jumped into the pond nearby.

When the charred figure of Li Huowang emerged from the pool, he saw Zhuge Yuan's hand stretched out towards him.

Li Huowang, looking like a drowned rat, let out a deep sigh and reached out his hand.

Zhuge Yuan pulled with force and hauled him up.

"Tell me, where did those followers of the Oblivion Path go?"

Li Huowang asked irritably, his gaze shifting towards the entrance; there wasn't a single person outside, no one at all.

"They have been made to forget everything about Da Liang by my Heart Turbidity painting, realizing once again their identities in Da Qi, and have returned to Da Qi."

"Huh?" Li Huowang looked at Zhuge Yuan incredulously. "What are you saying? Where are they now?!"

"Yes, as I've said, Youdu is under curfew, and they insisted on leaving. I suppose by now they've reached the West City Gate."

Li Huowang glanced around and with a swift step on the wall, his body quickly shifted to the top of the wall.

Running along the wall towards the roof, after several rapid misplacements, Li Huowang stood on the tallest rooftop.

Even though it was night, his excellent vision allowed him to clearly see the massive city gate in the distance and the wide streets. It was dead quiet, nobody in sight.

Clearly, the West City Gate of Da Liang had no one around; Zhuge Yuan was right, those people really had gone to the so-called Da Qi!

"Brother Li, what are you looking at?" Zhuge Yuan's voice suddenly appeared beside Li Huowang.

Li Huowang quickly took a few steps back, looking at Zhuge Yuan in absolute shock, "Could it be that Da Qi exists not just near you, but is an actual place? As long as one forgets everything about Da Liang and believes your lies, they can reach your so-called Da Qi?!"

Zhuge Yuan, who had been fanning himself, now looked somewhat displeased.

"What kind of words are those, Brother Li? What do you mean by lies? I've always said Da Qi exists, could it be that after all I've spoken, you haven't been listening at all?"

"But..." Li Huowang's mind was in turmoil. If Da Qi really existed, then where was it located? A parallel world? Was Heart Pan the key to another parallel world?

But if it were a parallel world, why did the male prostitutes of Da Qi seem like twisted versions of Da Liang's prostitutes, rather than being entirely independent?

He truly couldn't understand the peculiarities of Heart Pan.

As Li Huowang's thoughts became more and more chaotic, Zhuge Yuan couldn't help but speak up, "Is it that difficult to understand? I've said before, Da Qi is real, and it's Da Liang that's the illusion. It's just that you all can't distinguish it."

"No, no, no." Li Huowang quickly shook his head and took another step back, trying to remain patient, "Brother Zhuge, no need to say more. Even if Da Qi is real, next time please keep the followers of the Oblivion Path for a while. After I have interrogated them, then you can send them to Da Qi."

"Interrogate about what?" A playful smile appeared on Zhuge Yuan's face.

"Naturally, to find out where Bei Feng currently is, and just how strong he really is!"

Realizing his voice was getting loud, Li Huowang took a deep breath and once again suppressed the irritation in his heart.

"Brother Zhuge, don't blame me for being anxious, but right now I'm utterly clueless, and I don't have much time left."

Zhuge Yuan nodded knowingly, then gently lifted the painting in his hand and suddenly gave it a shake.

With a "swoosh," the white canvas unfolded, and a person, barely alive, rolled out from within.

"Brother Li, this man is Bei Feng."
