The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 377 Xinsu

"Father?" Li Sui held up two eyeballs, looking at the heart beating rapidly above her head.

She didn't know why, but her father's heartbeat sometimes would beat so fast, which she found quite interesting.

Seeing that Li Huowang paid no attention to her, Li Sui cautiously extended a tentacle to poke at it, and seeing there was still no response, she reached out her tentacles to tug at it from below.

"Sss—! What are you doing! Be steady!"

Startled by Li Huowang's scolding, Li Sui immediately retracted her tentacles.

After being scolded, Li Sui didn't dare to move recklessly anymore and stayed put, playing with the black spindle her father had given her.

She also didn't know what a spindle was, but since her father called it a spindle, she would call it a spindle too.

Holding the two eyeballs, she circled around the spindle several times, and Li Sui began to feel bored again.

But she didn't want to go out; it was comfortable and peaceful inside her father's stomach, and she liked that feeling.

After pondering for a while, Li Sui wrapped her eyeballs with her tentacles and wriggled through Li Huowang's navel, looking outside cautiously.

In front of her father was a table with nothing on it but a bowl of tea. Her father looked anxious, as if waiting for something.

"Where is this?" Li Sui tried as hard as possible to discern the sounds around her, but everything was muffled and indecipherable.

"Ah, someone's coming." Li Sui curiously watched the chubby-faced man holding a stack of books.

"Why does he have books? Is Father going to start teaching me characters again? I don't want to learn characters anymore."

When the man placed the books on the table, Li Sui also looked over, but she didn't recognize many characters, "Xinsu? What is that?"

Just as Li Sui was about to take a closer look, she found that her father had already picked up the book, and she couldn't see it anymore.

Li Huowang's pupils trembled slightly as they scanned over the words on the page; he read very carefully, not willing to miss a single one, for it recorded the information on Xinsu!

After quickly reading through the first few pages, Li Huowang paused for a moment, as the information indeed pertained to Xinsu.

But it wasn't the information he wanted because it detailed how to use Xinsu's eyes in combination with Heart Turbidity's hair, to refine what they called a magic artifact.

"Next!" Li Huowang swiftly picked up another book and began to read again.

He read one book after another, but they were all about the practice of refining Xinsu's body and consciousness, which greatly irritated Li Huowang.

Such things were completely useless to him; could it be that he was expected to refine his own organs into magic artifacts?

As Li Huowang was flipping through the books faster and faster, a sharp bird call suddenly interrupted him.

"Why are you looking into Xinsu? Could it be that you have Xinsu in your hands?"

When Li Huowang turned his head, he saw that Sima Lan, who had left, had actually come back!

Looking at those books about Xinsu beside him, a chill ran down Li Huowang's spine—could the other party suspect something because of this?!

After a brief pause, Li Huowang calmly put down the book in his hand and explained, "I saw from the book that Bei Feng is the Xinsu, and I wanted to know what exactly Xinsu is."

"Didn't the great Elders of the Ao Jing Sect teach it?" Sima Lan asked.

Li Huowang reached out and took off the cloth bag from his back, lifted the thin fabric, and displayed the Xinsu tongue on the decayed wood that looked like jade from the Record of Appearance.

"Back when I was at the cross shrine, someone had mentioned it, but they only ever told us that Xinsu is a living spiritual treasure of heaven and earth, and that we should coax it and not be rough, but they never told me why this should be done."

"So do we have to coax Bei Feng when we encounter him in the future? How can we possibly fight then?"

Sima Lan nodded slightly, "I see, you needn't look into the Si Ku anymore. Since you are now a member of Geng Banner, I shall tell you."

Just as Li Huowang's eyes widened with surprise, Sima Lan spoke. "The Giant once said, 'Exist without existing, transform without transforming. He who does not exist can exist, he who does not transform can transform. The one who exists cannot but exist, the one who transforms cannot but transform, hence there is constant existence and transformation. Those who are always existing and transforming, there is no time they do not exist....."

Listening to these words, Li Huowang began to feel a headache coming on and quickly held up his hand to interrupt. "Brother Sima, I hope you can be more straightforward. I have never attended a private school; I am but a simple man. Just tell me directly what Xinsu is."

Hearing this, Sima Lan frowned and a fleeting look of disdain and contempt appeared in his eyes as he looked at Li Huowang.

However, faced with Li Huowang, as he tapped the blind bird next to him with a hand, the bird began to answer as simply as possible.

"According to the Giant, common people all possess the Ten Emotions and Eight Miseries, but Xinsu is different. Aside from the Ten Emotions and Eight Miseries, it also possesses an extra Innate Qi,"

"From the beginning, it changes and takes form, with form comes substance, yet before it becomes a body, it is called Xinsu. Xinsu, having the extraordinary Innate Qi, can transform the Ten Emotions and Eight Miseries into the beginning and merge with the Heavenly Dao."

"If you force Xinsu into a corner, in a dire situation, and he uses that Innate Qi, even Immortals would be helpless."

Hearing this, Li Huowang swallowed hard, "What would be the consequences?"

"Turning mountains upside down, summoning the wind and calling the rain, all within a single thought of his!"

As he said this, even Sima Lan's voice became much softer, as if frightened by his own words.

"Hmm?" Li Huowang was momentarily taken aback. Turning mountains upside down, summoning the wind and calling the rain—is this truly me? Is this truly the Xinsu?

Li Huowang's gaze shifted to the faceless Hong Zhong, the sinless Monk, the headless Peng Longteng, and Jin Shanzhao, who had only his upper body, behind Sima Lan.

"This isn't right! The Xinsu he's talking about is completely different from me! Why didn't he mention illusions, why didn't he mention dead people following, why didn't he mention Xinsu's body being out of place?"

"Hehehe... Of course, this youngster from the Mo Family wouldn't know; he's just parroting his lessons after all. Do you really think he has seen a living Xinsu?" After a long absence, Hong Zhong suddenly jumped out and taunted with a jeering tone.

"Oh, my mistake, this youngster has indeed seen a living Xinsu, for he has one right before him now, hahaha!!"

Li Huowang's eyes twitched imperceptibly, completely ignoring Hong Zhong's ridicule, and continued to ask Sima Lan, "If dealing with a common Xinsu is so dangerous, doesn't that mean dealing with Bei Feng is even more troublesome?"

Sima Lan nodded, "Indeed, just think about how difficult it is to deceive someone on the Oblivion Path, and that is why that person became one of the Oblivion Path's Four Joys."

"So how should I deal with Bei Feng??" Li Huowang asked again.

"If the Astrological Bureau had figured out how to deal with Bei Feng, they would have wiped him out long ago, wouldn't they? Could they have allowed him to run amok like this?"

Hearing this, Li Huowang's expression grew serious. The message in the other's words was considerable, and he needed to carefully sort it out.
