Chapter 362: Agony
Watching the iron thing in front of his adversary, Li Huowang laughed softly.
He shook his head and then began speaking to the wall beside him.
"Miaomiao, take Li Sui a little further away. Although you won't die here, it's still better to be safe than sorry."
"Who the fuck are you talking to! Take off the Bluetooth headset!"
Li Huowang's voice echoed in the somewhat empty stairwell again, filled with exhaustion and suppression.
"You know what? My mood really can't get any worse right now. I really feel like venting on something!"
Li Huowang's hand twisted, and the sharp blade tip was revealed in his hand. His facial expression instantly turned savage, and he stomped on the stairs before pouncing towards the three men in front of him like a starving tiger sprinting for its prey.
"Bang!" Drops of blood blossomed on Li Huowang's body, but this familiar pain only excited him more.
A flash of cold light, the hand along with the gun, tumbled in the air accompanied by fresh blood.
The half-scream of the man was cut off as his vocal cords were slashed into two, leaving a wheezing sound trembling faintly in the air.
This scene stunned the remaining two men, who clung desperately to the girl in their arms, hysterically shouting, "Don't come any closer! We have a hostage!!"
"Tell that to the real cops! In your world, I'm a fucking madman!!"
Scalding blood spurted from the severed limb, soaking Li Huowang's feet.
Without even glancing at the two women who were so scared they peed themselves, Li Huowang, with a knife stuck in his chest, walked upstairs, stepping in bloody footprints as his voice, like the howl of ghosts and wolves, echoed continuously in the stairwell.
"Yang Na! I'm sorry!! I'm coming for you!!"
Li Huowang searched through the dormitory on the stairwell, room by room. When he reached the fourth floor, he saw the remaining four men.
Li Huowang, bloodied, titled his head and stared straight at each person's neck.
In front of Li Huowang's current appearance, even though they held hostages and weapons in their hands, the momentum was not on their side.
The clearly more timid man amongst the four suddenly let go of the girl he held and trembled as he spoke, "Comrade, can we surrender now? We really didn't do anything! The bank robbery was forced by Bahu, he was the mastermind!"
Li Huowang furiously pulled the dagger from his body with his left hand, leaned forward slightly, and, with tears streaming down and maniacal laughter, charged at them.
There's undeniably a vast difference between those who have killed and those who haven't.
The dark red blood dripped down the stairs, drop by drop on each step.
Li Huowang, covered in scars, sat atop two bodies, gasping for breath, feeling the pain all over his body.
His right arm, possibly with severed nerves or tendons, was somewhat unable to lift.
"Huowang?"
Hearing that familiar voice made Li Huowang's body shake violently, a sudden urge surged in his heart to leave this place immediately, to run as far away as possible.
But when he thought of Bai Lingmiao, trapped by Heart Turbidity, Li Huowang kept repeating 'illusion' under his breath, slowly raising his head to look towards the stairwell entrance.
It was Yang Na, wearing a delicate jade earring on her right ear. Li Huowang remembered this earring—it was the birthday present he had his mother give to Yang Na.
"Wuuu… Huowang! How did you get so badly hurt!"
Tears streamed down Yang Na's face as she rushed to Li Huowang's side, looking helplessly at his bleeding wound.
She tried to cover it with her hands, but could not stop it.
"Fake... fake... fake..." Li Huowang kept muttering to himself as his left hand, clutching the dagger, tightened more and more.
Just as he fiercely raised the dagger in his hand, Yang Na began to speak.
"Why did you come to save me! You've gone mad! Why did you come to save me! How am I supposed to forget you like this!"
Ahhh!!" Li Huowang felt that at that moment the dagger in his hand was as heavy as a thousand pounds, and the other person's words nearly made him completely collapse.
Feeling heart-wrenching pain, Li Huowang gathered all his will and stabbed the tip of the dagger into Yang Na's chest, the sharp blade slicing through her purple tight-fitting sweater and also cutting into Yang Na's skin.
Feeling the pain in her chest, Yang Na trembled and blinked, looking at Li Huowang. In her eyes, there was no fear, no disappointment, no complaint, just deep grievance. "Huowang, why?"
The look in her eyes pierced into Li Huowang's heart like a sharp knife, no, even more painful than that.
Just as he was about to press harder in utter despair, he suddenly felt a burning pain in his throat, like the searing of flames, intensifying so much that everything around him seemed to become unstable.
With a "clang," the dagger in Li Huowang's hand fell towards the ground, and the immense pain made his body involuntarily tremble.
Ignoring the wound on her own chest, Yang Na hurriedly rushed over and embraced Li Huowang, who was leaning back, in her arms.
With a "boom," everything around them vanished instantly, and Li Huowang found himself back in that pitch-black forest.
He was kneeling on the ground, facing a red bamboo slip, the "Great Thousand Record," which seemed to contain something inside it.
At that moment, a tongue lolled out from the bamboo slip and began to talk, bringing the "Great Thousand Record" to life.
"One Tongue Turns the Wheel! A lash covers a Great Thousand! Wonderful Realm to the extreme, not expressible in words! Heaven adores mystique, refrain from chiseling at the spirit! My Lord is supreme! How dare one even startle it!?"
Hearing the voice of the "Great Thousand Record," Li Huowang felt all his senses beginning to merge once more, merging into that peculiar sense that allowed him to be aware of Bahu's presence.
Under this sense, Li Huowang could hear that the "Great Thousand Record" was indeed alive.
He touched the red bamboo slips as they transformed into writhing red worms.
In a daze, Li Huowang looked up at the ceiling above, the pitch-black dome seemed to split open, revealing a long and nearly larger-than-sky hazy eyeball peering down through the gap.
That was not Bahu. Li Huowang could feel Bahu, but it was far away, still in the White Jade Capital.
The eyeball dissipated, and Li Huowang once again felt, or rather saw, Bahu.
This time, he could feel part of himself within the body of the other.
An intense agony descended from the heavens, intertwining with Li Huowang's pain and began spreading outwards.
Soon, everything around was covered by this agony, whether it was Bai Lingmiao or those mutated humans.
Lastly, including the trees, including the soil, even the air began to tremble slightly.
As Li Huowang gently raised his hands, all the suffering intensified, and this new pain would now be controlled by Li Huowang.
Li Huowang's blended senses smelled two eyeballs, one black and one white, each containing a part of the other.
They had no boundaries, as the edges of one cancelled out the other, and he was inside those spheres.
As Li Huowang raised his hands once more, he stripped all the agony off himself and poured it into the two spheres.
