The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 240: The Exit

Because he was being dragged on the ground continuously, Li Huowang's clothes were all worn out. He glanced slightly and saw those Lion Dances that were tracking them.

Through the white light on their bodies, he vaguely saw something even bigger behind the group of Lion Dances.

Li Huowang didn't know which sect the Lion Dance Palace belonged to, but the only thing he could be sure of was that there were differences in their strength; the two he had dealt with earlier might have just been the weaker ones.

"Second God! Run faster! Those Lion Dances are just the small ones! There are older ones behind them!"

Hearing this, Bai Lingmiao ran even faster. She wasn't running blindly but was trying to head towards the sound of the drums as much as possible.

Suddenly, Li Huowang saw something and patted Bai Lingmiao on the body, "To the east!! Listen to me, to the east!"

Bai Lingmiao pushed hard against the ground with her limbs and quickly jumped onto the left wall. After changing direction on the wall, she dashed towards where Li Huowang had indicated.

They hadn't run far when, in the darkness, they arrived at a "forest," a forest formed by bodies suspended by ropes around their necks, and this was what Li Huowang had seen.

Being stared at with that special vision, Li Huowang instantly felt his thoughts starting to slow down. This was Rope Son's territory, and right now, Rope Son was lying on the ceiling above, staring at him!

This creature was watching him, but Li Huowang didn't care because he knew that compared to the two of them, weak and insignificant, that large group of Lion Dances emitting white light would obviously attract its attention more.

Just as Li Huowang had predicted, when the creatures sensed the huge commotion, the hanging bodies completely ignored them and began to slowly turn, floating towards where the Lion Dances were.

With Rope Son's interference, the white glow and the dense footsteps behind Li Huowang finally started to fade away.

Without pursuers following them, Li Huowang and Bai Lingmiao followed the drum sounds and met up with the others next to a rock wall.

The others, anxious and frightened, finally found a pillar of strength and hurriedly approached, surrounding Li Huowang, bombarding him with various questions.

"Don't panic, that Han Fu kid isn't a big deal. When it comes to a head-on fight, he can't beat us. Just watch out for his sneak attacks!" Li Huowang encouraged the others confidently.

"But... Brother Li, where should we go next? We don't even know where we are," Chun Xiaoman said, struggling with the idea of their current predicament as he looked around the vague darkness.

Although they had just defeated Han Fu and escaped from the Lion Dances, not to mention this damned place seemed to have the ability to confuse people, even if it didn't confuse them, without any reference points, with all places looking the same, they still couldn't find their way out.

As long as they couldn't get out, they would sooner or later run into those two things again.

Looking around, Li Huowang looked down at the bell hanging from Chun Xiaoman's waist, "Give me the bell, can living people be killed by holding pee? Perhaps Master You might help us find a way out!"

It was only then that Chun Xiaoman realized that those Master Yous could actually do such things. She was just about to hand over the bell but then pulled back.

"Brother Li, I am younger and have more Yangshou, it's better if I use the bell for you." Saying this, without waiting for Li Huowang to respond, Chun Xiaoman quickly started shaking the bell.

As several Master Yous flew out, Li Huowang couldn't tell if it was an illusion, but it seemed like their size had grown a bit.

In this oppressive environment, a quarter of an hour passed, then two quarters, but those Master Yous never returned.

This situation caused the others, who had just regained confidence, to feel their hearts sinking continuously.

"Could those carefree old geezers have been eaten as snacks by the Evil Spirits in the darkness?" Doggy voiced a terribly bad guess with a heart filled with dread.

Seeing their current predicament, Li Huowang's brow furrowed tightly together.

Not to mention the threat that Han Fu posed to everyone from within the darkness, if those lion dancers took care of the Rope Son and came after them again, it would be all over, they had to get out of this damned place immediately.

He began to recall the various rituals from the Great Thousand Record, which he knew like the back of his hand. But after quickly going over it in his mind, it was all in vain.

The Great Thousand Record, a necessity for members of the Ao Jing Sect, only recorded methods to inflict pain upon oneself or others, which were of no help in this situation.

Just as Li Huowang turned his head, intending to ask Bai Lingmiao if Jump Rope could lend a hand with this, he saw the simple-minded Gao Zhijian, holding his thumb up straight in the air with a very solemn expression.

Clutching the wound on his body, Li Huowang looked up at him and asked, "What are you doing?"

Gao Zhijian, uncharacteristically, didn't directly answer but remained serious as he sucked on his thumb again and then held it up high once more.

A flash of insight struck Li Huowang, and his heart leaped with joy, understanding what the other was attempting. "Using your finger to sense the wind's direction? There's wind? You've found the exit?"

Gao Zhijian quickly withdrew his finger and nodded at Li Huowang, pointing westward with his hand. "There... there... there... here."

"Gao Zhijian~! Way to go!" Li Huowang, elated, walked over and patted him hard on the shoulder, and along with the others, rushed towards the direction he pointed.

The direction the wind guided them was not in a straight line; they continuously passed through caves and rock chambers, sometimes ascending, sometimes descending.

Hurrying along, Li Huowang re-evaluated the tall man before him.

Coming up with a way to find an exit in this situation, Li Huowang couldn't help but regard Gao Zhijian with new respect. That was not something an ordinary fool could think of; he must have had many stories in his past.

But in this critical moment, there was no time to probe into his background.

"Duck down, the rock ceiling is lowering ahead." Everyone bent over and continued forward.

The cave entrance narrowed, and just as the tallest Gao Zhijian was about to get stuck, the cave widened, and a sound like wailing ghosts and howling wolves came from afar.

When Li Huowang heard the sound, his heart immediately soared with jubilation. It wasn't actually ghosts howling, but the whistling of the wind as it blew through narrow caves.

Gao Zhijian hadn't got it wrong! There was an exit here!

The others realized this as well, and although they were all exhausted from running and being scared for so long, they still squeezed out the last bit of energy to rush ahead.

As they passed through another winding cave, the outside suddenly brightened, and a slanted opening appeared in the roof of the rock chamber, with the wind blowing in from there.

The light that shone down from there was not the bright light of the Lion Dance Palace but the pale silver of moonlight. Unbeknownst to them, night had already fallen outside.

They stood under that patch of silver light, like frogs in a well, staring up at the sparsely scattered stars.

Clearly, this was not the same exit they had entered through, but at least it was an exit indeed.
