The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 203 Wang Wei

Hearing Dr. Hou announce his identity, Li Huowang turned his face away, no longer speaking; he couldn't be bothered to listen to the doctor's nonsense in his hallucination.

Seeing the patient being so resistant, Dr. Hou didn't say anything else. He tapped a few words on the tablet and turned to leave.

No sooner had he left than Li Huowang heard a new set of footsteps entering the ward.

"Hey, little bro, heard from Dr. Hou you're awake? So can you go to the bathroom by yourself? I really don't want to empty your urine bag, spare me the trouble will you?"

That unique voice, plus the obvious tendency to chatter. Without opening his eyes, Li Huowang knew the person who had come in was Nurse Wang, whom he had talked to on the phone before.

Suddenly, a warm towel was thrown over Li Huowang's face and rubbed vigorously. "Come on, young master, let me wash your face for you."

Throwing the towel off with force, Li Huowang glared at the newcomer.

It was a plump man with kind features, wearing a blue nurse's cap and a blue nurse's uniform on his head.

The only memorable feature on his face was a black mole on the left side of his chin.

"Oh? Young master is awake? Is there anything I can help you with?"

Li Huowang looked at him irritably, "Could you not talk, do you actually like chatting with lunatics that much? Aren't you afraid of driving yourself crazy?"

"Now that's something. Psychiatric patients are a joyful bunch. Did you know the reason why the guy in bed 89 next door was picky about his food yesterday?"

"He actually said the eggplant looked sneaky, and he was afraid it would do evil things in his belly after he ate it. Hahaha!!"

After laughing, Nurse Wang went back to work, picking up the urine bag that was hanging by the bed and went to the toilet to empty it.

When he came back clutching the urine bag, he spoke again.

"Wow, your urine is quite yellow, have you been eating something that's heating you up? Young people are amazing, even hospital meals can heat you up."

Before Li Huowang could reply, he asked another question, "Hey, kid, I overheard at the nurse's station that you've gained some kind of Divine Skills? What's that about, you became an Immortal over there?"

"What's it to you?"

This Nurse Wang was buzzing around like a fly, never giving him a moment's peace, which inexplicably made Li Huowang very irritable.

"Come on, tell me, those crazy things you're saying, I love to hear them, they're so interesting. I can't play on my phone at work, so I'm counting on you to pass the time now."

"I also heard that you found a woman in there? How was it? Convincing? If it was convincing, then you've hit the jackpot!!"

Li Huowang's eyes were filled with anger as he looked at the man who had insulted Bai Lingmiao.

But in the next second, the anger on his face suddenly vanished, turning into deep suspicion. "What's your surname?"

"Didn't I tell you before? My surname is Wang; you can call me Nurse Wang, but like the patients in bed 65 and 31, you can call me 'handsome guy,' I'm not picky."

"Your surname is Wang? Is your full name Wang Deqiu?"

"No, what kind of name is that? My surname is Wang; my name is Wang Wei, 'fire' on the side plus a 'Wei' as in Wei Xiaobao."

Hearing this, Li Huowang's suspicion dissipated, and all that remained in his eyes was a deep chill. "You're lying to me, you're not a nurse, you're a doctor!"

Nurse Wang scratched his head in confusion. "What now? You're having another episode?"

"You sent my mom away because she's too straightforward, too hard to deceive, afraid she would slip up in front of us."

"You've been provoking me repeatedly with your words, trying to induce a response to your language."

Wang Wei heard this and a wry smile spread across his face.

After he bent down and reconnected the urine bag, he said to the door, "Come in."

The hospital room door opened, and the young doctor from before walked in. He gave Wang Wei a slight bow. "Teacher."

"See? Patients are still very sharp. It's just that their self-control declines when they are having an episode. In fact, when they are stable, they are like anyone else—sometimes even smarter."

"That's why you should always treat patients with a normal heart. Don't treat them like fools just because they have a mental illness."

After speaking to his student, he turned his head to look at Li Huowang in the bed.

"Let me introduce myself. I am your attending physician. My last name is Wang. My name is Wang Wei, Wei from Wei Xiaobao. It's nice to meet you for the first time."

"Why are you pretending to be a nurse?"

"Because you have a significant aversion to the identity of a doctor, I thought I'd take on a different role to talk to you. But there's no big difference between a nurse and a doctor; both are here to serve patients."

Having seen through the man's identity, Li Huowang closed his eyes, no longer engaging in any conversation with him, quietly waiting for this period to pass.

With this time, he'd be better off thinking in his head about how to quickly leave Siqi.

"Li Huowang, do you know? Is there a possibility that I really am nothing, that I'm just a hallucination of yours?"

"Huh?" Li Huowang opened his eyes.

Seeing that the patient had responded, Wang Wei continued, "I often wonder, why is people's self-awareness so fascinating? Whatever they believe they are, they become."

"Did you know? Not all consciousness is like this. For instance, some animals and even infants don't have the concept of 'self' in their thoughts."

"Those like them can't get mental illnesses. Speaking of which, mental illness could be considered a higher-level sickness."

"What exactly are you trying to say? You're all over the place. Dr. Wang, if you can't hold up, just go back and take a break. Don't end up treating yourself for a nervous breakdown."

"Correction," Wang Wei wandered around Li Huowang's hospital bed incessantly.

"It's not nervous, it's mental, but there are many occupational diseases for doctors including neurasthenia, so strictly speaking, you're not wrong."

Li Huowang, too lazy to bother with him, closed his eyes again.

"Li Huowang, based on the previous recordings I've analyzed of you, it seems that you've gained an ability over there, an ability to dislocate yourself?"

"Did you know? This fits very well with the symptoms of schizophrenia."

"You're already quite sick, you can't afford to get even worse."

"It's okay if you don't respond to me; I still get my salary either way. But your mother will surely be heartbroken. After all, she has spent a lot of money to hire me."

"I forgot to tell you that this is a private hospital, and the fees are very expensive. And because it's private, there's very little reimbursement from medical insurance."

"Do you really want to stay here for a lifetime? Have you thought about the burden this will place on your family?"

"There's a saying, 'A long illness wears out filial piety.' The same goes for a mother. You are still so stubborn, always refusing to cooperate with treatment."

"Eventually, whether it's your girlfriend or your mother, they will leave you. I've seen this kind of thing a lot."

"Your likely end is to be sent away to a cheap hospital to be confined for a lifetime, dying alone!"
