The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 191 Cleaning up

After saying these words, Wang Deqiu hooked his right heel and directly picked up a saber from the ground into his hand.

Clutching the saber, he charged unflinchingly towards Li Huowang.

"Clang~! Clang!" The sword and saber collided, continuously emitting a clear ringing sound.

Surges of something kept flowing from the You Family Sword in his hand into Li Huowang's body, allowing him to almost overwhelm Wang Deqiu in the fight.

However, the opponent's seemingly suicidal fighting style also made Li Huowang feel somewhat troubled.

But with a "clang," the sound abruptly stopped, and a segment of a blade rolled onto the ground—the opponent's saber had broken.

Li Huowang had intended to hold back, to take a prisoner to interrogate, but the sword in his hand made his blood surge uncontrollably, making it impossible to pull his punches.

When Wang Deqiu stabbed into Li Huowang's abdomen with the broken saber, Li Huowang's sword also pierced the opponent's chest.

"Who the hell are you!" Li Huowang gritted his teeth and glared at the man before him as he asked.

Facing death, Wang Deqiu seemed not to care at all.

He tried to spit in Li Huowang's face but the blood-tinged saliva could only weakly slide down his chin.

Using all his remaining strength, he screamed, "You beasts of the You Family, don't even think about laying a finger on Huo Shu, as long as we are here, not an inch of Huo Shu's land will be conceded!!"

"How many times do I have to say it! I am not from the You Family of Siqi! This sword was given to me by someone else!"

But Wang Deqiu could no longer hear these words; as hot blood kept gushing from his chest, his body weakened and gradually fell to the ground.

Gasping for breath, Li Huowang bit his lip and pulled the broken saber out of his abdomen.

Immediately pressing his hand on the wound, Li Huowang took another look at Wang Deqiu's body, cursed under his breath, and then turned around to help the others.

The entire stronghold was in chaos, but with their leader dead, the remaining men clearly wouldn't last much longer.

Facing Li Huowang and his group, they were continuously pushed back, frantically retreating deeper into the cave.

Just when Li Huowang and his men were about to completely slaughter the last of them, with a loud rumble, part of the cave collapsed, and a stone wall appeared between the two sides.

"Clang, clang, clang!" Gao Zhijian kept striking the rocks forcefully with an iron rod, causing sparks to scatter.

"Enough, stop hitting it, one glance and it's clear that this was prepared in advance, completely sealing off the path," Li Huowang said.

Upon hearing Li Huowang's words, Gao Zhijian sheepishly lowered his hand.

With a "clang" as the sword slid into its sheath, Li Huowang felt his mind clear, he drew a slow breath and then vigorously shook his head.

Turning back, he looked at the corpses littered across Juyi Hall, feeling somewhat irritated; after all, so many people had died again.

Truthfully, he did not want to kill, but the blood debt in his hands was now mounting ever higher.

Li Huowang took another look at Wang Deqiu's body, reached over to a dead man's side, tore off a large piece of clothing, and wrapped his You Family Sword in it once more.

After all was said and done, all this was caused by the sword. Now, Li Huowang had also come to understand.

It was because during the wedding, Monkey Second had recognized the sword, and had mistaken him for someone from the Military of Siqi.

That was what provoked men like Wang Deqiu to come after him, otherwise there wouldn't have been all this trouble.

"In Huo Shu, there must be many who bear grudges against the You Family. I can't easily reveal this sword anymore."

"Moreover, I need to hurry on my way for a while now. Once the Military of Huo Shu finds out about Wang Deqiu's death, they definitely won't let it go, for sure they'll send more people. I can't let them catch up to me."

Li Huowang had won this round with ease, but he dared not confront the entire Huo Shu Kingdom. It was undoubtedly, a case of a mantis trying to stop a chariot.

Chun Xiaoman paced the cave with a sword in hand. Although her chest was still heaving, whenever she encountered someone gasping for air, she would thrust her sword to finish them off to prevent any surprise counterattacks.

Just as she approached Li Huowang, a hand reached out. "Give it to me."

"Brother Li, give you... what?" Chun Xiaoman pretended to be oblivious.

"Stop playing dumb. Hand over the 'Great Thousand Record'. That item is not something you can use."

Seeing her fingers continually bleeding, how could Li Huowang not know what she was using?

However, Chun Xiaoman glanced at Bai Lingmiao and then stepped back a few paces, clutching her chest with a look of unyielding determination in her eyes.

"Brother Li, this is not your scroll; I found it on someone else. It belongs to me."

As Li Huowang walked towards her, Xiaoman retreated step by step.

"You don't understand at all what you're dealing with. You can't use that item!" Li Huowang's tone became harsher.

Trapped against the wall with no way to escape, Chun Xiaoman instinctively drew her sword.

Seeing the blade presented before him, Li Huowang burst into an angry laugh. "After facing life and death together so many times, you're drawing your sword on me now?"

Chun Xiaoman's gaze shifted away, but it quickly hardened again. "Sorry, Brother Li, I must have a blade of my own."

"Fine! If you're so capable, why don't you go out and make your own way? Why stick with the rest of us and rely on each other for survival!"

At those words, Chun Xiaoman's body shook slightly, and she couldn't help but feel the tears welling up in her eyes.

This was what mattered to her the most right now.

Bai Lingmiao hastily stepped between them, her expression troubled. "Brother Li, don't be like this, we're all family here. Let's talk it over nicely."

"I'll say it again! Hand over the 'Great Thousand Record'!!"

With red eyes, Chun Xiaoman, clenching her teeth, pulled out the 'Great Thousand Record'.

Seeing Li Huowang focus his attention on the red bamboo slips, Bai Lingmiao quickly pulled Chun Xiaoman to a corner.

"Sister Xiaoman, Brother Li is right. That item is very dangerous. Every time you use it, it hurts terribly. You shouldn't keep it."

This remark instantly enraged Chun Xiaoman, and she spoke with indignation in her voice, "You know it's dangerous and yet you side with your man? Has love addled your brain? Can't you tell right from wrong anymore?"

"But, Sister Xiaoman, Brother Li is different from you. Even if his hand is cut off, it can grow back, but you can't do that."

Chun Xiaoman looked at Bai Lingmiao with a sense of disappointment, then walked away, sword in hand, into the depths of the cave.

Seeing her act this way, Bai Lingmiao panicked and hurriedly followed.

"Sister Xiaoman, aren't we still good sisters? You're not going to ignore me now, are you?"

Chun Xiaoman kept her head down, striding through the cave, not wishing to deal with Bai Lingmiao's entreaties.

However, at Bai Lingmiao's pleading, her heart gradually softened again.

"I know you fancy him, but there are some things you can't just indulge him in. Doing so will only lead him further astray, and in the end, it will hurt him more."

Just as she was about to say more, a series of mournful sobs echoed faintly, causing Chun Xiaoman to quickly draw her sword and stand in front of Bai Lingmiao.
