The Unruly Immortals

Scalding tears slid through the twisted wrinkles on Li Huowang's face, finally dripping onto the floor from his chin. He looked at the motionless Yang Na in front of him with despair, feeling utterly helpless.

Five Qi next to him sighed and began to explain, "You've stayed in a mental hospital before, so you know what's going on with her. Severe depression is often like this. I can hardly imagine how she managed to find her way here."

"Nana?" Li Huowang gently shook Yang Na, but her dilated pupils showed no response. Yes, he had looked back again, but something seemed different.

In past instances, upon seeing him for the first time, Yang Na would ask about his monocle, rather than appearing like a soulless shell.

After softly calling a few times, Li Huowang suddenly realized something and immediately asked Yang Na softly, "Is it because I took away your Deathly Heavenly Dao? Is this why you're like this?"

As Li Huowang repeated this question, his belief in it grew stronger. He nodded vigorously and said, "Then I'll give it back to you, okay? I'll give it back to you!!"

Saying this, Li Huowang leaned in to kiss Yang Na, biting his own tongue hard until the bloody taste filled his mouth, then transferring it to Yang Na's mouth.

Feeling it was not enough, he even tore pieces of membrane from his cheeks and transferred them as well.

After transferring his blood and flesh, Li Huowang held Yang Na tightly and whispered in her ear, "Nana, come back. I've given Death back to you. You're once again Wu Sheng the Mother, you're again the Deathly Heavenly Dao!"

"Come back and help me. We need to deal with Qing Wanglai next, I can't do it without you."

Watching the couple hugging and kissing, Five Qi smirked, picked up his medicine, and left the room.

Li Huowang continued mumbling to Yang Na for half an hour until finally, there was a change.

"Huowang? What's wrong? Why are you crying? Is it my fault?" Yang Na's thin hand gently patted Li Huowang's back.

As Li Huowang released his hold and looked at Bai Lingmiao again, he saw light return to her eyes.

"Huowang... What happened to your eye? Why is there only one left? Is it because of me?"

Upon hearing this familiar response, Li Huowang finally relaxed, relieved that Yang Na had returned to normal.

"It's fine, it's fine..." Li Huowang let out a long sigh and embraced Yang Na once more.

"Huowang, I was just thinking about things. I've figured it out now, don't worry." Now it was Yang Na's turn to continually comfort Li Huowang.

Perhaps it was an illusion, but Li Huowang noticed that Yang Na seemed more confident now.

"Knock, knock, knock" A knocking sound broke the warm atmosphere.

Li Huowang turned his head and saw Yi Donglai standing at the door with a worried expression, as if something had happened.

"Come in and say it, Nana is not an outsider."

Upon hearing this, Yi Donglai entered the room and locked the door behind him.

Just as Yi Donglai was about to speak after entering, Li Huowang suddenly remembered something. His expression changed dramatically as he quickly stopped him. "Hold on."

Li Huowang immediately stood up and began rummaging through the room, searching for something.

There weren't many items in the room, so it didn't take long for Li Huowang to find what he was looking for: a black bugging device.

"I should have suspected! Knowing Qing Wanglai's nature, he wouldn't have left without ears!!" Li Huowang reached out to remove it, extracted the black memory card inside, and directly tossed it into his mouth, chewing it up fiercely before swallowing it.

Seeing this scene, Yi Donglai and Yang Na were immediately shocked, feeling as though many invisible eyes were staring at them, and they began helping Li Huowang search.

With their efforts, they eventually found a second listening device inside the leg of a chair, and a third one on the wardrobe. Clearly, Qing Wanglai had left several backups, even after taking precautions.

"This guy is truly devious." Clenching his teeth, Li Huowang reached out to crush all of these devices completely.

Qing Wanglai had been up to something from the start, monitoring everyone from the shadows, and his so-called plan had been in motion for a long time.

No matter what occurred before, he had always been in control, but not anymore. With the recent retrospection, Li Huowang now understood this guy's motives. The initiative was back in his hands.

"Huowang? What is all this about? Why are these things here? Who placed them?"

Li Huowang glanced at Yi Donglai, then at the pale-faced Yang Na. After contemplating for a moment, he took Yang Na's hand and sat down on a bench. "Nana, there are some things I need to explain to you. Many, many things happened before, but you've forgotten it all."

Telling Yang Na about Qing Wanglai's conspiracy was essential; having trusted people around would be imperative if any action were to follow.

"Nana, do you understand if I say it like this? Qing Wanglai is San Qing, he's completely insane now. We must find a way to control him and utterly devour the Heavenly Dao within him."

Yang Na nodded firmly, calmly accepting the statement. "Okay, I understand. What should we do next?"

Li Huowang thought for a while and then said, "First, we must find Zhao Shuangdian, we must make contact with them. If we act against Qing Wanglai now, Zhao Shuangdian and the others might be persuaded by him and used against us."

With the initiative on his side, everything was negotiable, as long as the others in the Fate Commander weren't persuaded by Qing Wanglai, just him and Touzi weren't enough to contend with them.

"Hold on for a second." Yi Donglai interrupted Li Huowang's thoughts. "Li, just tell me what's going on, what is all this?"

Clearly, surrounded by this chaos, Yi Donglai was unable to comprehend any of it.

"We are at this point already, and you still don't understand? I'm not insane! Everything I said is true, everything you wrote in your paper is true as well!" Li Huowang repeated impatiently.

Yet even with Li Huowang's explanations, Yi Donglai was at a loss. "But... even if what you say is true, what does this have to do with me?"

"How could it not? You yourself said it, you are Da Nuo! You are the Great Fate Commander!!"

Yi Donglai's forehead veins bulged, his face turning bright red.

"That was when you used my sister to threaten me! I just made it up to fool you! It was entirely fake!!"

"Fake?" Li Huowang laughed.

"Do you think it's fake just because you say it is? Back then, I also thought the Elixir Recipe I gave Master Danyang was fake! But he still ended up becoming immortal!"

"There is no real fake! You are the Great Fate Commander! Your words create reality! The moment you proclaimed yourself Da Nuo, you became Da Nuo!!"
