Chapter 6: New Amethyst
At the dorm... Amethyst returned to her room and lay down on her bed, starting to read a book. Ten minutes later, Daemon arrived. He was happy. His face was practically blooming with joy. While Amethyst was reading, her thoughts were occupied by the events of the day.
Inside her mind: "The Northern Crystal Kingdom, I'm not done with you!" She involuntarily clenched her fists. Then, Daemon approached her.
"Amethyst, we're going to a celebration at a restaurant. The school organized it. Are you coming?"
Amethyst put the book down and stood up. She looked at Daemon coldly and mumbled:
"No."
Daemon hadn't expected such an answer. According to Muna, Amethyst was fun-loving and liked parties. But now... It was hard to explain!
Everyone got ready and left. Junia went to her. Maybe she could convince Amethyst to come. Junia approached Amethyst, who was sitting on a bench. Junia sat next to her.
"Amethyst, what's going on with you?"
Amethyst looked at her coldly and replied in a tired tone:
"I'm perfectly normal."
"Tell me the truth! Is it because of him?"
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"You know better than me!"
Amethyst didn't return to her room. There was a small forest near the academy. She placed wooden mannequins there and started hitting them as hard as she could.
"Okay! The old Amethyst is dead! Everyone should meet the tough Amethyst!"
She began striking the mannequins one by one. It hurt, but she endured it.
"Muna said a girl could use high heels as a weapon!"
She hit the mannequin hard with her shoe, and it shattered into pieces. Then she started practicing new moves.
By 2:45 AM, her friends returned. They had gone with several teachers and other students, so returning late wasn't a problem. Daemon brought food for Amethyst. He knocked on her door, but no one answered. The windows were closed with curtains, so he couldn't see inside. He opened the door and entered.
Amethyst wasn't there. He placed the food on the table and went to the other girls' rooms. He knocked on the door.
"Oh?! Daemon, what's wrong?"
"Have you seen Amethyst, Junia?"
"She was sitting on a bench by the sea before we left. Did something happen?"
"No. Thanks!"
Daemon said and began searching for Amethyst. He looked around but couldn't find anyone. Then he saw a light coming from the small forest. He ran there.
Amethyst was sitting on the ground, meditating. There were broken mannequins around her. Inside, Daemon thought:
"What happened here?!"
He approached Amethyst. She was surrounded by a holy light. Her cheeks were flushed, and her face was covered in beads of sweat.
Amethyst finished her meditation and took a deep breath. She saw Daemon next to her. Normally, she would have been startled, but Amethyst didn't react. Calmly, she stood up.
Her legs were injured, clearly visible. Daemon asked:
"Amethyst, what happened to your legs?!"
Amethyst didn't respond and returned to her room.
Daemon was confused. Amethyst sat on her bed, took off her shoes, filled a basin with warm water, and wet a towel. Some parts of her legs were bleeding, so she wanted to wipe the blood off.
She tried to extend the towel to her feet but couldn't lift them. The pain was unbearable. It felt like she might cry. Daemon silently watched from the corner. Seeing her struggle, he approached, knelt down, and took the towel from her hand.
He began wiping the blood off her feet gently. He treated her as if she were a fragile girl, handling her with care, especially since she was injured.
"Amethyst, why did you get hurt?"
Amethyst's eyes filled with tears, and memories of the past resurfaced...
..."Mom! Mom!"
A little girl was crying, calling out for her mother. A beautiful woman came out of the wooden house. She ran to the little girl and picked her up.
"Don't cry, my dear. It's over now."
The woman took her home and started cleaning the little girl's feet with a wet towel. While doing so, she asked:
"Amethyst, why did you get hurt?"
"I was learning combat skills. I injured myself while practicing."
"My little angel, you must promise me you'll be more careful next time."
"I promise. Pinky swear!"
The girl and the woman intertwined their pinky fingers and joined their thumbs on top...
"Amethyst, why are you crying?"
"It's nothing."
"What's wrong with you?"
"Why is everyone asking me that?"
"Because this isn't you. You've been like this since this morning. Is it because of what I said?"
"It has nothing to do with you! Do you think you're that important?"
Daemon fell silent. He zoned out. Then, he handed the towel back to Amethyst and left the room.
Amethyst tidied up the place and lay back down on her bed. She then began dreaming. She was in an empty, black space. The sky was full of stars. The stars formed strange symbols that created writing.
Amethyst couldn't read them. She called out:
"Is anyone there?! Hey!"
She looked around desperately and muttered:
"Ugh! I don't even know where I am!"
Then someone called her name:
"Amethyst! Amethyst!"
"Who are you?!" Amethyst asked in a panic, looking around. It was a woman calling her name. Her voice was delicate and soft. She called out again:
"Amethyst! This is the world of dreams! Don't burden yourself with your troubles. Whenever you want to talk to me, just close your eyes."
"Who are you?! Why should I talk to you?!"
"You'll learn soon enough."
Suddenly, there was an earthquake, and Amethyst fell through an opening. Just then, she woke up.
"Ahh! Argh!"
She didn't know what had happened, but somehow, she had fallen out of bed. Daemon woke up to her scream.
"Amethyst, what happened?"
Amethyst didn't answer and went outside. An announcement echoed in the distance:
"Today at 10:00, the groups will be selected. Everyone should gather in the main hall!"
Amethyst went down to the kitchen. It was dark inside. Someone was there. Amethyst called out:
"Who's there?"
There was no answer. Just as Amethyst was about to attack, the person spoke:
"Amethyst, wait! It's me, Alaric!"
"Oh?! Alaric?!"
"You almost attacked me."
"Sorry, my bad."
"No problem."
Alaric paused and noticed that Amethyst looked pale and exhausted.
"Why do you look so drained? Did something happen?"
"Just my own issues."
"I see."
Alaric waited a bit, then with a cute expression like a kitten, said:
"Can you make those pastries from last time for breakfast?"
"Sure, I'll make them. But I have one condition."
"What's the condition?"
"You won't tell Muna."
"Pinky swear!"
Daemon entered the room. The two were standing quite close to each other. Daemon walked up and stood between them.
"Daemon, what are you doing?"
Alaric asked, surprised.
"Nothing."
Amethyst made breakfast and called everyone over. Then, they headed to the school building. At the entrance of the school, there were huge orbs of light. They could light the entire path to the dorms in the dark.
The school itself was enormous, with architecture similar to a castle. Inside, there were hundreds of rooms, along with strange technological devices.
Everyone went inside and gathered in the main hall. The principal appeared and stepped onto the stage to speak:
"Welcome, everyone!"
Everyone clapped, except Amethyst, who remained cold and aloof.
The principal continued:
"The names of new students are written inside this sphere. You'll come up one by one and choose your papers. But if everyone chooses at once, it could get chaotic. For example, someone chooses a girl, but the girl chooses someone else. To avoid confusion, we're giving priority to the girls, and they will come up first to pick the papers."
The girls began choosing their papers one by one. When it was Amethyst's turn, all the boys stared at her. Even Archer!
"Everyone can return to your dorms! The exams start in 10 days! Good luck!"
Amethyst and the others returned to their dorms. They went to the kitchen. Alaric asked:
"Come on, open them and show us who you got!"
Muna looked at him strangely. Junia opened hers first:
"I got Leo!"
It was a big win. Junia had prayed for this, and her prayers had been answered. But Leo was expressionless, looking at her indifferently.
Then Muna opened hers. She was in shock:
"Oh my god! This can't be possible! Why did it have to be you?!"
She pointed to Alaric. He was equally surprised.
"What?! How is this possible?! This is unacceptable!"
Daemon said:
"Calm down, guys. It's just a coincidence. Don't overreact!"
"Hmph!"
Alaric said:
"It would have been better if Amethyst had gotten it. At least she's calm and knows what she's doing. Also, I think she's really cool. Oh! Amethyst, who did you get?"
Amethyst opened her paper. Her face turned bright red.
"Amethyst, who did you get?"
Muna asked. Amethyst regained her seriousness and coldly replied:
"Daemon."
Daemon was shocked. So was everyone else.
Amethyst stood up and placed her hands on the table.
"Okay. We all got each other. That means teamwork is really important. What matters is crushing our opponents! Understood?!"
"But Amethyst, we'll end up fighting each other. What do we do then?"
Junia asked anxiously.
"One word - WAR!"
"Okay. Understood!"
Everyone said in unison.
Amethyst returned to her room, sat at her desk, and wrote something on a piece of paper. Then, she left and went to Muna and Junia's rooms. Shortly after, she left the school, boarded a train, and headed towards the Crystal Forest!
