Chapter 2: problems
Early the next morning, the sun could be seen rising from the east as the cool damp air was being replaced, by a much warmer one. In a two story building located in a street named eden street, a young brunette lady could be seen entering it.
"Hi, miss Lou." Kelly casually waved with a light smile to miss Lou, who was on the steps leaning against the wall.
"And who the hell are you." Miss Lou frowned, taking a puff from her pipe. The old woman was still dressed in her enticing purple dress, from yesterday.
"Oh.. haha! how rude of me. Am Kelly, Jack's friend." Kelly calmly said, stretching her hand out to miss Lou. Not accepting, the old woman stared at Kelly from head to toe, observing her like a detective.
'How the hell is that church rat, friends with a beautiful chick like this?' Miss Lou wondered a bit shocked. She recognized Kelly from the few times she came here but still, she couldn't deny she was jealous of Kelly's beauty.
"Jack's friend huh?" Lou muttered, taking a big puff from her pipe proceeding down to Kelly.
"Phough! y-yes. We've met sometimes, but you might not remember me." Kelly said coughing a bit, from the smell of weed everywhere. The passage was a bit narrow with little to none windows, so it was literally filled with the smell of weed from miss Lou pipe.
"I do remember you.. you're sexy Kelly right?" Lou smiled shaking Kelly.
"Ha-ha! Just Kelly is fine miss Lou." Kelly took a step back wary of miss Lou, as her eyes were filled with mischievousness.
"Nonsense! You should be proud of your beauty and your body." She awkwardly spoke, making Kelly more startled by this old hag.
"Ahh!" Kelly was caught off guard by the sudden pull from miss Lou, who proceeded to embrace Kelly in a deep hug.
"Especially your very.. seductive body." She wickedly smiled, grabbing Kelly's ass cheeks with both her hands.
"Ehhm! I have to go now and get jack, cause we're late for work." Kelly nervously stuttered, breaking free from miss Lou grasp heading up the stairs.
"Of course darling, you do that." Miss Lou smirked, seductively biting her pipe a bit. "And do please drop by on your way back from work. We're gonna have so much fun." Miss Lou said like a creepy pervert, sending chills down Kelly's spine.
'Knock, knock!'
"Jack.. jack! Get up you lazy bones or you're gonna get us fired." Kelly shouted, knocking on the door which slowly creeped back open.
'He left it open?' Kelly was startled at first seeing Jack's door unlocked, as she thought something bad might've happened to him. Peeping, she could see jack still sleeping peacefully on the bed.
"Tsk. Such a lazy couch potatoe." Rolling her eyes, Kelly then proceeded to the bathroom filling a cup of water, coming back to the room.
'Splash!'
"Shit! What the hell?" Jack was jolted awake by the chilling cold water, coming in contact with his body.
"Good, you're awake." Kelly smiled innocently, like nothing ever happened.
"You couldn't wake me like normal people do?" Jack frowned, clearly annoyed by Kelly's actions.
"Well I tried, but you were too deep in sleep I had to resort to other means." She shrugged playing defense. Getting up Jack was a bit dizzy, but he fought through it heading to the bathroom.
"What time is it?" Jack asked. He'd smashed the only alarm clock gifted to him yesterday, and he couldn't afford another one yet.
"Oh! Just a few minutes past check-in." Kelly sarcastically spoke with an indifferent tone.
"What! Why the hell didn't you wake me earlier!" Jack yelled, rushing into the bathroom with speed. He spent less than two minutes before bursting out, wrapped in a towel going to his closet.
'Oh my..' Kelly inwardly thought, staring at jack half naked. She'd never seen him like this before, so it triggered somewhat feminine emotion she thought she never had.
"W-we have to leave now or we'll definitely be fired, and you know what that means." Kelly tried to hide her embarrassment with that, but jack couldn't care less.
Opening the closet door, he selected the blue top and black pants unwrapping his towel.
"What the fuck are you doing you perv!" Kelly said flushed with embarrassment, as she quickly hid her face away from Jack. Smirking, the latter ignored her curses as he simply got dressed into his attire.
"Let's go." Jack softly said strapping his bag. Kelly still flushed stormed out of the room, avoiding eye contact with jack.
"Women." jack smirked locking the door, and tailing behind her out of the building. Walking by, they both didn't exchange a word to each other, making the atmosphere more awkward and tense. Reaching j and j enterprise, they were validated with their ID's and allowed in.
"Goodbye Kelly." Jack waved but received no response or attention from Kelly, as she simply strolled up the stairs to the third floor.
'Jeez.. tough crowd.' Chuckling to himself, jack then proceeded to his station post and got to work.
"More and more confirmation to go." Jack sighed, gazing through the piles of paperwork on his desk.
After what seemed like days of working, the medium sized clock in front stricked 1pm indicating it was time for lunch break. Everyone had already began stepping out to purchase food from the company restaurant, but not jack.
'I should finish this up by tomorrow.' Jack was determined, to crush the piles of paperwork. So he theorized if he skipped lunch break, and added it with the hours of working he'd be done in no time.
'I mean who needs food anyways right?' He chuckled to himself. He mostly skipped lunch break because he didn't feel the need to eat much, and he didn't have money to purchase such extravagant food.
Soon the clock striked 1:30pm indicating the end of lunch break, as everyone began heading to his/her appropriate office stations. Jack could see Kelly passing by, with a wrapped brown item in her hands.
"Here.." tossing the food on his desk, she walked away before jack got the chance to say anything.
'I'll have to make it up to her.' Jack thought with a light smile. Normally, Kelly usually bought food for him during lunch break. Knowing him and his stubbornness, she knew he'd deprive himself of food so she always did this.
"Hmmm.. yummy." Jack's mouth was watering, as he greedily stared at the juicy burger with fries. Two cans of diet coke were also placed by the side, in the bag.
'I'll eat some now and keep for the night.' Jack planned, digging in to the meal and reserving some. A few hours flied past and the clock striked 3pm, ending the chapter of yet another bad day.
Finishing up Jack went outside, were he could already see Kelly waiting in front.
"Hey, am sorry for what happened earlier at my place.. I didn't mean to-"
"It's alright, let's not talk about it." Kelly interrupted, her face going a bit red. Nodding, they then proceeded out presenting their ID's.
"Where's your gold permit boy?" One of the guard scorned, a cold glare at jack. Ignoring the threats, jack put his hand in his back searching for something.
'Where is it?' Jack panicked, not feeling the small golden template given to him. Normally, a golden template would be assigned to each staff working at j and j enterprise, to test their loyalty. Employees would be required to check-in their golden templates, every two days.
"Am sure I must've left it at home if I could just-"
"You know the rules kid. Never loose your golden template or else.." The guard threatened lifting jack by the collar, his fist clenched tightly.
"If you could just let me down, am sure I'll be able to locate it." Jack explained, but the guard paid deaf ears. Just as he was about to be brutalized, a voice suddenly spoke.
"According to company policy he still has about 24hours left, before any action is to be taken." Kelly boldly spoke, glaring at the guards. "That is, unless you two are gonna be responsible for the bullet about to hit the company."
Hearing her words, they then dropped jack down and let them both off.
"Thanks Kelly." jack uttered panting for air. The duo then proceeded out from the building gates, out to the main roads.
"I-i can't still believe how the golden template isn't in my bag. I never pull it out except check outs." Jack mumbled, biting his fingers a bit.
"I-it must have been stolen. Yes. Yesterday night while I didn't lock the door, someone must've sneaked in and stolen it. I-i have to call the police." About to pull out his phone he remembered he didn't have one, cause he couldn't afford it.
"Damnit! How could I be so stupid!" Jack shouted in frustration, palm slapping his head.
"Hey.. don't be so harsh on yourself. You probably left it in the drawer at home." Kelly softly spoke, lifting his head up a bit. Looking into her eyes, time seemed to have paused for a moment.
"Am here for you." Planting a kiss to his cheek, she slowly walked away blushing. Staying there for some minutes, jack was still stunned by Kelly's sudden action.
"Well that happened." Shaking his head, he decided to follow Kelly's advice and go back home to search for the template.
"Get the hell outta my house you fucking worms!" Up ahead across the street, jack could see a family being thrown out by the house owner.
'That might be my fate if I don't find that template.' Jack gulped a bit, as he now had two problems to worry about. First being thrown out to the streets by miss Lou, and second being sacked from work if he didn't find the golden template.
