The Undead Horde Of The Great Grass Sea (GOT)

Chapter 21: Meeting The Bear

City of the Undead, One Month Later

Within the Horse Palace's meeting hall, as on every other day, many high-ranking Dothraki—former Khals now serving as Kos under me—were drinking, feasting, and fighting like the savage horse lords they were. I observed them with my usual uninterested expression, lounging in comfort while snacking on fruit. However, six figures were missing from my side, and many of my men took notice. Even I was slightly surprised.

Daenerys, I assumed, was likely training the dragonlings to hunt, releasing goats or, on occasion, an injured tiger or great ape into the field. I had no intention of risking my finest siege weapons on unworthy prey. Over the past month, the dragonlings had grown considerably, and word had yet to spread about the city's status as a no-go zone for outsiders.

My thoughts were interrupted as the missing figures finally appeared, accompanied by six spear-wielding women. They were bronze-skinned, with skeletal markings on their bodies and long black hair—warrior women blessed with bodies taller and sturdier than most. These women served as guards to my many wives and consorts. Leading them was Maria, her face veiled as she stepped forward and addressed me.

"My Khal," she began, standing a few feet away, her voice carrying easily in the now-silent hall. "With the greatest joy, I have come to tell you—we are with child." A smile adorned her face as she spoke.

Her words registered, and I shot up from my lounging position. "We?" I asked, my tone urgent. "All of you?"

Maria nodded slowly, confirming my suspicions. My gaze swept over the five women, and a rare smile broke across my face.

"The first of my blood has been sired. Heirs are born this day," I declared. "In two years, I will take Daenerys to wife—alongside you five. Tonight, we drink! The Khalasar will live on! Spread the word."

A roar of approval erupted as the men and women in the hall rushed out to carry the news. Left alone with the five women, I looked down at them and spoke in a lighter tone. "Come, let us retire to our chambers and ensure my heirs will be strong."

Maria, ever perceptive, understood the weight of the moment. Unlike the two blonde women, who saw me as nothing more than their captor, she recognized that she was about to become the second wife to a man who had brought dragons back into the world. She knew she could not bear enough heirs to inherit an entire continent, but she could bear at least five. Perhaps more.

Later, in my chambers, as the celebrations continued elsewhere, a knock interrupted my rest.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

A gruff voice called out from beyond the doors. "My Khal, the Bear Man seeks an audience."

I exhaled, irritated by the interruption, and looked to Maria, who seemed equally displeased. Pulling myself up, I spoke in a dull, gruff tone. "Who in the hell is the Bear Man?"

Doromon, one of my blood riders, pushed open the door—seemingly struggling with the concept of doors as always. "Blood of my blood, he is a warrior from the Dragon Mother's homeland," he explained. I raised an eyebrow, unimpressed. Doromon continued, "He comes with gifts from the Yellow Merchant and seeks to serve the Dragon Mother."

I shifted my gaze to Maria and the red-haired Ayana. "Get dressed. You will come with me. Fetch Daenerys. We will meet this Bear Man and see his gifts."

As I spoke, I turned my attention back to Doromon. "Have all my Kos ready. We will prepare for my wedding. Six women will be wed at the beginning of the coming year. Send a rider to Vaes Dothrak—I will hold the ceremonies there before regrouping. Then, we march south."

Doromon nodded, his mind likely racing as he considered what this meant for the Khalasar. Under my rule, even slave women who bore my mark had been granted the right to choose their partners—something unheard of before. Men from Khal Motho's ranks had learned the hard way not to force themselves upon those who bore the mark. Change had come to the Dothraki, whether they welcomed it or not.

Now, it was time to meet the Bear Man and see what he had to offer.
