The Ultimate Versatile Soldier King

Chapter 27 Fried Rice with Egg?

Amidst the amazed gazes of the crowd, Luo Chao finally finished his big bowl of rice mixed with Lao Gan Ma sauce.

Satisfied, he burped loudly and then slowly stood up to begin clearing the dishes.

"Luo Chao, what are you doing? Let the hotel staff clean up the dishes. Look, Chef Boris has already prepared his ingredients," Lin Yun stretched out her fair hand and pointed towards Boris's cooking station.

Indeed, Boris had neatly arranged the ingredients for the first dish on his cooking station.

Luo Chao casually glanced at Boris's cooking station and saw not only French snails, shiitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, ham, but also essential condiments like salad oil.

Just with a glance, Luo Chao knew that Chef Boris was preparing to make French-style baked snails.

This French-style baked snail is a world-famous French dish. It seems Chef Boris wants to intimidate right from the first dish with this classic dish.

"Luo Chao, Lin is right, you better prepare your ingredients!" Zhou Delong was anxious watching Luo Chao's calm demeanor.

"I've already prepared the ingredients."

"Prepared?!"

Zhou Delong was confused; Luo Chao said the ingredients were ready, but he seemed only to have eaten a bowl of leftover rice!

No way, leftover rice!

Thinking of the "leftover rice," Zhou Delong quickly checked the rice cooker beside Luo Chao.

The white rice lay quietly in the pot, just enough for four bowls.

Could it be Luo Chao plans to use this leftover rice as an ingredient?

"Luo Chao, are you talking about this leftover rice?!" Zhou Delong pointed with a trembling finger at the rice in Luo Chao's pot.

"Yes, I'm planning to make a mixed egg fried rice!"

"What?! Egg fried rice!"

Upon hearing Luo Chao was preparing to make egg fried rice, both Zhou Delong and Lin Yun exclaimed in surprise.

What an international joke, this is a duel between the world's two greatest culinary arts!

And Luo Chao is saying he wants to make a simple, ordinary, easy egg fried rice?

"Mr. Luo Chao, if you think you can't win, there's no need to give up. You won't know despair unless you try! Hahaha!"

Sun Bowen laughed sarcastically, seemingly already anticipating Luo Chao's failure.

"Luo Chao, I'm not doubting your skills, but using simple egg fried rice to compete against refined French cuisine seems highly unequal!"

Zhou Delong was not only embarrassed but slightly disappointed, fearing today might mark his last day in the culinary world.

"Exactly, Luo Chao, I told you earlier, even though we support you, during the competition we won't favor you. This is too casual for such a formal contest!"

Lin Yun was evidently frustrated by Luo Chao's nonchalance, turning her head away in annoyance.

"Haha, I'm curious to see what kind of extraordinary egg fried rice our handsome young chef can make!"

Among the group, only Miao Shiyun seemed to support Luo Chao, saying encouraging words and giving him a flirty wink.

"Egg fried rice, simple yet difficult! Making egg fried rice is easy, but making it well is not something everyone can do! And I can do it because I have a secret ingredient!" Luo Chao spoke with confidence.

"Secret ingredient? What secret ingredient?!" Upon hearing about the secret ingredient, Zhou Delong's eyes regained some spark.

Yet, what good is a secret ingredient? Egg fried rice is still just egg fried rice!

"Here it is!" Luo Chao took out four eggs from his pocket and handed them to Zhou Delong, "These are eggs from my farm chickens in the army! The taste is incredible; everyone in the army praises them!"

"Oh no, my culinary career is over!" Upon hearing this, Zhou Delong looked desolate, muttering to himself, almost collapsing on the floor.

The thirty minutes of preparation quickly passed.

Zhou Delong, Lin Yun, Miao Shiyun, and Sun Bowen took their seats, each faced with two wooden plaques.

The plaques were marked with the names of Luo Chao and Boris, and after tasting the dishes, they would raise the plaque of the chef with the better dish.

The competition officially began, and Boris, being a notable French chef, quickly started cooking.

Meanwhile, Luo Chao remained at his cooking station, holding the rice cooker lid and staring at Boris's station, seemingly lost in thought without any intention of moving.

By this time, Boris had already taken the 12 French snails, washed them clean, and carried out a series of complex treatments.

Then, he cut the treated snail meat along with shiitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, and ham into small dice.

He then took two eggs, beat them into a foam, and poured cooking oil into a hot pan to fry the diced ingredients.

Finally, he stuffed these diced ingredients into the snail shells, sealed them with the egg foam, and set them in the steamer to cook.

Boris, as a world-class chef, was impressively skilled, completing the entire process in just twenty minutes!

Just a minute more, and his French-style baked snails would be ready!

As Boris's snails neared completion, Luo Chao casually walked over to Boris's cooking station.

He glanced at the leftover ingredients and asked, "Can I use the leftover shiitake mushrooms and ham?"

"Hmph!"

Boris snorted disdainfully and gestured for Luo Chao to help himself.

Without hesitation, Luo Chao took Boris's leftover mushrooms and ham back to his own cooking station.

Then, Luo Chao slowly began to beat the eggs, wash the vegetables, and chop the ham...

By this time, Boris's French-style baked snails were out of the oven.

Elegantly, like a gentleman, Boris served the four small plates of snails to the four judges: Zhou Delong, Lin Yun, Miao Shiyun, and Sun Bowen.

He followed with a bottle of high-end brandy, pouring a drink for each of them, and gracefully spoke in romantic French.

"Enjoy your meal!"
