Chapter 22: Chapter 21- Tower (part 1)
One quiet afternoon, Arthur and Morgan found themselves without plans and unable to visit Nana, who was out for the day. After a brief discussion, they decided to tell their parents they were going hunting. But in reality, they had something far more extraordinary in mind. The siblings had long awaited this moment, eager to discover something they had only heard about in whispers and glimpsed in fleeting dreams: the Mage Tower.
Their hearts raced, and their minds were buzzing with curiosity as they set out toward the mysterious location. After hours of trekking through dense woods and rugged terrain, they finally arrived at the mouth of a cave said to conceal the fabled Tower. The air inside the cave felt thick with magic, a strange energy pulsing around them, as though the very stone held secrets waiting to be unlocked.
Arthur and Morgan exchanged a glance, their breaths held in anticipation. They had no idea what awaited them beyond the shadows of the cave.
And then, before them, stood the Tower.
It soared impossibly high, a structure that seemed to defy both gravity and logic. It stretched far beyond the cave's roof, an endless spire that seemed to reach toward the heavens. The siblings stared in awe, their minds struggling to comprehend the sheer scale of the Tower. They couldn't even begin to fathom how deep it went beneath the ground, nor how it defied the laws of physics. The walls shimmered with an ethereal glow, pulsing with ancient, potent magic. The very air crackled, thick and heavy, as though the Tower itself were alive.
Arthur and Morgan stood frozen, their jaws hanging open. This was beyond anything they had ever imagined. Their feet stumbled as they tried to take in the sight before them.
As they approached, a figure emerged from the shadows, standing just outside the grand double doors of the Tower. The figure was tall—about 6 feet—dressed in a pristine butler's uniform adorned with white epaulets on the shoulders. His black hair was impeccably styled, and his piercing blue eyes locked onto theirs. But something was off. His form flickered, like a hologram—real, yet distant, a reflection of something that existed beyond their grasp. His presence was unsettling, and despite his regal uniform, there was an air of inferiority about him. He regarded the siblings with an unreadable expression, as though waiting for them to make the first move.
Arthur broke the silence. "I'm guessing you're the automated system for True Light?"
The figure's lips didn't move, yet his voice echoed clearly and smoothly in their minds. "Yes, young master. How may I serve you?"
Morgan tilted her head, considering the figure for a moment. Then she turned to Arthur. "Why don't we call him Sebastian?"
Arthur smiled. "I like that."
Turning back to Sebastian, Morgan asked, "How many floors does the Tower have?"
Sebastian's voice replied, the sound reverberating slightly in the cavernous space. "The Tower has 15 floors. They are as follows: Watchtower, Greenhouse, Firing Range, The Heart, The Grimoire, Battle Room, Library/Archives, Mirror Hall, Ground Floor, Forge, Workshop, Factory, The Spark, Crystal Mine, and Crucible. Where would you like to begin?"
Arthur and Morgan glanced at each other, excitement building in their chests. Without missing a beat, they spoke in unison. "Crucible."
Without a word, Sebastian nodded and motioned toward the grand doors. As they opened, the siblings stepped forward, eager to see what lay ahead on the Crucible floor. Whatever it was, it was bound to be more than they could have ever imagined.
