Chapter 18: The school (part 5)
"What was all that about?" Liu Zong stared at the ended broadcast on the screen and murmured softly in confusion, "How did the dean find out?" He squinted his eyes thoughtfully.
Then, with a sigh, he put his phone in his pocket and walked out of the cafeteria. "Never mind, let's go check on her first." He said to himself as he made his way to the infirmary.
~~~~~
"I've placed an extra uniform on the table. You can change into it and rest for some time before going back to your classroom." The female teacher instructed Li Yue before exiting the infirmary.
Once the teacher was gone, Li Yue turned to Puff. "Keep an eye on Zhao Shui, especially her phone. Inform me immediately if she does something suspicious."
Puff nodded at her. "And what about those three? They've been bullying the original host for years now. Are you really going to let them go so easily?"
She chuckled, her hand reaching out to grab the spare uniform from the table. "That was just the beginning. The real deal is yet to come." Her voice was low, yet filled with malice.
With that, she held onto the long curtains hanging from the ceiling, which divided each bed in the infirmary, and pulled them. The small wheels ran along the top, allowing the curtains to open, and enclosed her bed, separating it into a private cubicle from the rest of the room.
While Puff sat on a table outside Li Yue's temporary quarters, the door to the infirmary was suddenly pushed open, and Liu Zong stepped inside. His eyes scanned the room, searching for Li Yue.
"Miss Li, are you in there?" he cautiously asked, standing near the closed compartment.
Suddenly, Li Yue's wet uniform came flying towards him from above the railings and dropped onto his head. "Yeah, I'm here," she said, closing the curtains.
Her eyes widened slightly when she saw him, and she couldn't help but laugh at his appearance.
Liu Zong's face twitched with embarrassment, and he lifted his hand to remove the clothes from his head. "How are you feeling now?" he asked softly, trying to maintain his calm demeanor as he tossed the wet uniform aside.
"Is that for me?" She questioned, pointing at the small shopping bag in Liu Zong's hand that held some chocolates and flavored milk.
He was taken aback by her question and looked at his hand, "Oh? Yeah. I thought you might need this." He replied, handing her the shopping bag.
"Why, Thank you!" She smiled and quickly took it from him. "You did a good job!" She complimented him while drinking the flavored milk.
"What do you mean?" He asked, feeling quite confused about the overall situation as he sat down on the bed beside her. "Why were they bullying you, and why didn't you let me help you?"
Li Yue gave him a bored look. "Check your Weibo," she replied curtly before continuing to enjoy her drink.
Liu Zong frowned and immediately pulled out his phone, checking through the recent posts. His eyes widened in shock. "Holy Moly! This- This is..." he stammered, raising his head to look at her.
"Did- did you do this?" he hesitantly asked her while pointing at his phone.
She didn't say anything but simply nodded at him. Her response made him feel like he had been struck by a thunderclap, and he couldn't bring himself to believe it.
The recent and most trending posts were all about the bullying incident in the school. The top post was the live broadcast itself, followed by one exposing the real identities of those rich daughters and a third criticizing the school.
The fourth post was particularly disturbing, as it revealed the public's reaction to the bad manners of the Mo, Shen, and Yang families' daughters. The public had boycotted their businesses, leading to a drastic fall in the companies' stock values, nearly driving them to bankruptcy.
Liu Zong was so engrossed in the news that he didn't realize Li Yue had gotten up and left the infirmary, leaving him behind.
In the principal's office, the atmosphere was tense. Dean Chen sat in his chair, glaring at the three girls, who trembled with fear as they stood before him. Nearby, his assistant, Mr. Kang, stood with his hands clasped in front of him, showing respect.
With a fluid motion, the dean swiftly pulled open a drawer from his study table and retrieved a folder from it. "The three of you have bullied your schoolmate, which seriously violates the school's policy," he said.
"This is a reputable school with a long history." He closed the drawer, his eyes narrowing as he turned his attention towards them. "We cannot tolerate students like you who can damage our years of reputation."
He then placed that folder on the table and informed them, "You are hereby expelled from the school. Please hand over your student IDs, pack your belongings, and leave immediately." His voice was low and stern.
The dean's words hit them hard, and they felt frozen in their spots for a while until Shen Ying finally spoke up hesitantly. "You- You can't do this to us..... Our families are among the sponsors of this school. You can't..." her voice trailed off.
Mo Ting, encouraged by her friend's words, also began. "Yeah, if you kick us out of here, we won't support your school anymore. And once that happens, you know the consequences. If you're smart, you'd better not make an enemy out of us." Her tone was filled with arrogance.
"Heh! Young lady!" Dean Chen put his elbows on the desk and raised his interlocked hands in front of his face.
His chin rested on his bridged fingers as he snickered, "Mind if I remind you, with the current situation of your families, you can't even save yourselves, let alone pose a threat to the school."
"What do you mean?" Mo Ting squinted her eyes and asked in confusion, but he refused to answer any more.
Instead, he glanced at his assistant. "Mr. Kang, show them out and make sure they don't enter the school grounds again."
The assistant nodded and stepped forward, reaching out for the anonymous folder placed on the table. "Please, get out of here." He said politely, extending his hand towards the door, indicating they should leave the room.
Mo Ting was clearly embarrassed by his action and gritted her teeth in anger and resentment. "You'll regret this!" she warned the dean before stomping her foot and making her way to the exit.
Yang Li and Shen Ying, troubled by the principal's decision, silently exchanged a few glances with each other before sighing in resignation and nervously stepping away.
Once they left the room, assistant Kang bowed to the principal and followed them, walking behind all the way to the school gates.
On their way out, alot of students kept turning their heads towards them, their eyes a mix of disgust and amusement when they looked at the three. They whispered among themselves, speculating about the situation as their gazes remained fixed on the trio.
