Chapter 273: Goodbye Academy
Last night, I prepared the rejection letters for the organizations that sent me invitation letters to join them. I made sure that there were a few differences between them.
I am not sure but I feel like all those people would talk to each other once in a while. Even if they are from different organizations, it doesn't mean that they don't talk to each other or something. I am pretty sure that people like that would boast their achievements and I am sure that rejections would come up.
When they do come up, if they check my rejection letters and if they appear the same, it would be...I don't know actually but I am sure it would be quite awkward, though it may not be for me.
Still, I made sure that the rejection letters were worded a bit differently. I think, I would send them in the evening and I also wrote how I thought over for a day about the offer before rejecting them. So, it's best to send them in the evening or at night.
For now, it's time to pack up everything and leave the academy for the last time.
It's time to say my final goodbye to the academy.
---
With everyone from the final year leaving the academy, there were a lot of people at the Student's Residence Allocation and Maintenance Office. The office allocates us the rooms for residing. Usually, we don't interact with them but as this goodbye academy, we have to go to the office and submit our keys.
Once we submit our keys, they would send someone to check our rooms to verify that there are no kleptomaniacs among us. I am sure that they check every year, just we have no idea that they do. Now that we are leaving and won't be returning, they would have to check in front of us.
Though the study at the academy may have been free, but that doesn't mean one can steal things from the academy. Sure things would get destroyed while training but that doesn't mean one can steal things. If such a thing was found out, the student had to pay a fine for that, in addition to returning the item or paying for the cost of the item if that item was long gone.
In my time at the academy, the actual cost that I caused the academy was very low when compared to others. In the first year when I arrived here, I made the best use of the facilities available to us. I may have caused a lot of damage to the facilities and thereby increased the burden on the academy.
That was just for that year though.
At the end of the year, we entered the secret realm, where I got access to Nexus and have been using the facilities there most of the time. The only damage I caused to the academy's training facilities was to keep up with the appearances.
While training, damage to the items in the training halls is common. No one would think weird about that. In fact what would cause them to be cautious would be the lack of damage, which would be the case if they were not used.
Due to the superior training facilities that were present in the Nexus, I trained there. Due to that, I was able to improve faster and reach such heights. If not for that, I would be still stuck probably in level 20's for my skills and that too not as many as now.
As I used facilities in Nexus, my training facilities were not used and if they stayed like that throughout the year, suspicions would arise. Sure I did some dungeon missions but not training at all, that is suspicious. After all, one of the reasons why students come to the academy is the training facilities.
So, every now and then, I would break one or things and also cause damage to a few items in my personal training facility. It was much better than the damage I caused in the first year as I made full use of the training facilities. After all, the damage one causes should increase as their skill level increase.
In a way, I was burdened less than before and I am sure that it is way below others, at least the ones that were truly dedicated to training.
Even in the academy, I am sure that there are many that didn't take it seriously. There are many reasons for that. Some might be lazy, others probably because they failed the promotion missions to advance to the next rank.
Improving skill levels is very important but without improving rank, it doesn't matter much. Even if the attacks are precise and less energy-wasting, fighting against a higher rank enemy means that are not useful.
Unless your skill level is somewhere in level 80's and the higher ranking opponent has not crossed level 60, then it may be useful. Even if you can't defeat them, you can put up a good fight enough for help to arrive or distract the enemy to escape, as long there is some reinforcement or escape way.
So, to everyone, ranking up is the highest priority, at least until they reach Tier-5 or Tier-6. Since reaching Tier-7 is supposed to be very difficult and only very few can do so, they try to improve their skill levels to improve their combat prowess, and that doesn't mean that they gave up ranking up.
Halting at early stages though, would make people give up and try to find a stable life with a stable income.

Anyway, the office checked my residence and gave me the green signal, as there is nothing to complain about anyway.
After the check from the Student's Residence Allocation and Maintenance Office, and they signed that I was all good, I left the Office.
This is my last time here, so I walked, instead of just whossing away. Maybe not all my memories here are good, but still, there are a few good memories. After exiting the academy, I turned to look one last time at the academy and then left for the capital city.
This time, I didn't walk. There are no memories in the path for me. So I just rushed to the capital city. From there, I used the teleportation hub as usual to return to Winter City and then I went to home.
