The Supreme Beauty Fell in Love with Me

Chapter 647: The Dungeon

At night, a faint light could be seen inside the cave.

Lin Chuan deftly approached the cave by a narrow path. He knew, the closer to the cave, the more dangerous it was. Perhaps there were timed explosives buried beneath his feet, or various hidden weapons and traps lurking around him. These were the methods the enemies used to protect themselves.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh...

Suddenly, countless sharp arrows shot towards Lin Chuan from the darkness. The arrowheads were aimed almost directly at Lin Chuan's chest.

Lin Chuan quickly rolled to the side.

In the darkness, such dense volleys of arrows were truly difficult for ordinary people to evade. Lin Chuan relied on his formidable abilities to narrowly escape the danger. He panted heavily, never expecting that such mechanisms were hidden in this godforsaken place. Lin Chuan tiptoed forward and picked up an arrow. Sure enough, the arrowhead was smeared with red poison, looking incredibly sinister.

A strange smile appeared on Lin Chuan's lips.

He carefully collected all the arrows and placed them on his back. Perhaps these inconspicuous arrowheads could be of help at a critical moment.

After encountering this trap, Lin Chuan proceeded with utmost caution. The woods were littered with countless boar traps made of steel plates. Once someone stepped on them, the traps would spring open instantly and clamp down on the person's legs with astonishing force, rendering them immobile.

The last two kilometers were truly a path fraught with heart-stopping danger.

Lin Chuan advanced carefully, steadily moving towards the cave.

The top of the cave had been blocked by the enemies, who had strung up a wire mesh and electrified it. Anyone who carelessly touched the electric net would be instantly killed by the high voltage. Lin Chuan glanced at the electric net; it was indeed impenetrable. However, it could not stop Lin Chuan from moving forward.

He had already observed the terrain, and entering the cave from the mountaintop was the safest approach, as there were no defenses on the mountaintop—only the daunting electric net blocked the way. Lin Chuan immediately took out large shears and insulating gloves.

Soon, Lin Chuan cut a hole in the vast electric net and squeezed through with graceful movements.

The wind was strong at the mountaintop, and the dim light of the cave could be seen below.

Down the path, more than ten armed Guards were patrolling. Aside from them, no one else seemed to be around. Lin Chuan found it odd—wasn't it rumored that this branch had over two hundred armed forces? Could it be because the night was late, and they were all sleeping inside the cave?

There were many side caves dotting the mountainside, and it was unclear where Xiao Lan was being held. Lin Chuan crept along the cliffside, observing the enemy's movements and defenses. After thinking for a moment, he decided to capture one of the stragglers and thoroughly interrogate him, hoping to extract some information. This was the most prudent course of action.

After making up his mind, Lin Chuan immediately started to descend from the mountaintop to the ground. Landing swiftly, he quickly hid behind a rock. The ten or so patrolling Guards were not in a single formation, but scattered in several areas.

"Hey, buddy, I'm gonna take a leak, cover for me," a man wearing large shorts spoke up.

"Go on!" another patrolling man nodded.

Lin Chuan waited for an opportunity to strike while hidden behind the rock. Unexpectedly, the opportunity came just in time as the man unzipped his fly and headed toward Lin Chuan's hiding place, intending to relieve himself behind the rock.

The man stood beside the rock and began to enjoy the relief of nature's call.

Right after he finished, suddenly, a dark shadow hooked his neck and dragged him behind the rock. The shadow covered his mouth and harshly whispered, "Don't mess around, or I'll take your life."

"Oh, no!" The man struggled frantically.

Click click...

Lin Chuan immediately pulled out a gun and said, "Don't move."

Seeing the dark muzzle of the gun, the man finally quieted down. His mouth was covered by Lin Chuan, so he couldn't speak.

"I ask, you answer. If you try anything funny, I'll blow your head off," Lin Chuan threatened: "Understand?"

"Yes!" The man nodded.

Lin Chuan slowly released the man's mouth, but as soon as he saw an opportunity, he opened his mouth to shout.

"Mmm..." Lin Chuan stared into his eyes; he could clearly see what the man intended to do. As soon as the man was about to shout, Lin Chuan quickly covered his mouth again. Lin Chuan was furious and pulled out a poison arrow, saying, "You know I dare not shoot, but I can still make you die silently."

When the man saw the poison arrow, he immediately caved in.

He knew Lin Chuan would not dare to fire the gun, as it would alert everyone. But he was deeply aware of the power of the poison arrow. He was scared. He quickly raised his hands in surrender.

"I ask you, have you recently captured a girl?" Lin Chuan asked coldly.

"Yes!" The man nodded.

"So, where is she being held now?" Lin Chuan asked again.

"I..." The man clenched his teeth, saying, "I don't know."

"Don't try to dodge the question," Lin Chuan sneered. "Your eyes have already betrayed you. If you don't tell me, I'll stab this arrowhead into your eye right now."

"I... I'll tell you!" The man eagerly nodded: "She... she's locked up in the dungeon."

"Where is the dungeon?" Lin Chuan asked.

"Down by the mountain," the man hurriedly replied.

After a moment of thought, Lin Chuan covered the man's nose and mouth, driving a poison arrow into his carotid artery.

The man struggled violently, but it was all in vain—he was clearly no match for Lin Chuan. Eventually, the man convulsed, bleeding from all orifices, before collapsing stiffly to the ground. Lin Chuan swiftly changed into the man's clothes, hiding all his equipment behind a rock, and walked out carrying the man's rifle.

"What took so long? Were you taking a dump?" another man joked not far away.

"Yeah," Lin Chuan replied in a falsetto.

The man sensed nothing wrong and continued his patrol. Lin Chuan also pretended to patrol, walking slowly towards the foot of the mountain.

About one hundred and fifty meters from the mountain's base were more than ten caves. Reaching the foot, Lin Chuan took the chance to slip into a cave and found, to his surprise, that the interior passages were interconnected.

Several armed men appeared, walking out from the opposite direction; Lin Chuan quickly bowed his head and continued walking slowly forward.

"Stop," suddenly, one of the leading men shouted at Lin Chuan.

Lin Chuan stopped immediately in his tracks.

"Turn around." The leading man frowned, noticing a solitary figure that appeared suspicious—how could he not be wary?

Squinting his eyes, Lin Chuan slowly turned around, his hand already clutching several poison arrows.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh...

As he turned around, he fired the poison arrows. Simultaneously, Lin Chuan charged at them. A few arrows struck the chests of his opponents, and he quickly followed up, slashing his dagger across their throats.

Four of the five men fell; only the leader was left breathing, wounded by a poison arrow. He felt a dull pain in his chest, his strength nearly gone. Gritting his teeth, he fired his gun!

Bang bang...

The sound of gunshots rang out.

"Damn it!" Lin Chuan swiftly cut the man's throat with his dagger and dashed into the depths of the caves.

The sound of gunshots immediately alerted the people inside the caves.

Rustle rustle...

Suddenly, a multitude of footsteps hurried in their direction.

Seeing this, Lin Chuan sprinted faster. He needed to find Xiao Lan as quickly as possible and get her out of here. Lin Chuan was becoming anxious; with the complex terrain and interconnected caves, finding her in a short time seemed almost impossible.

But now was not the time to consider these things. All he could do was to continue running deeper inside.

Lin Chuan was quick, and in the blink of an eye, he had already reached the main hall inside.

Dozens of caves all led to one large hall, which was spacious, ventilated, and cool. It served as a meeting hall for the various branches. Going further inside were several rooms. Taking advantage of the chaos, Lin Chuan plunged into a room across the hall.

The room was empty except for a pile of vegetable stalks and jars of alcohol.

It was likely their storeroom. The room had a back door, which Lin Chuan opened to find a large kitchen, where several men were busily preparing late-night snacks, talking and laughing as they worked. They turned abruptly upon Lin Chuan's entry.

"Who are you?" one man asked.

Click click...

Lin Chuan raised the rifle in his hands and sneered, "Put your hands up."

The men immediately raised their hands; they were cooks, holding spatulas rather than weapons. They could hardly fight Lin Chuan with cooking utensils. The three cooks stared dumbfounded.

"I'm asking you, where have you confined the girl?" Lin Chuan demanded.

The three remained silent.

"Not talking, huh?" Lin Chuan displayed a cruel smile.

Whoosh...

A dagger instantly buried itself in the throat of the man closest to Lin Chuan. The man tried to scream, but he couldn't make a sound. He lay on the ground, convulsing and trembling, quickly passing away. The two men beside him were too petrified to utter a sound even in death.

This demonstrated just how well Lin Chuan understood human anatomy, and how precise his dagger technique was, reaching an almost supernatural level of skill. He could target vitals with accuracy, ensuring that his victims couldn't cry out and compromise his security.

Lin Chuan sneered, "Now, someone talk, and I'll let him live!"
