Chapter 608: Reinforcement
Tang Yumeng exerted so much force that this stab almost pierced through his chest. After the stab, she was so frightened that she slumped onto the ground. She was nearly on the verge of collapse. It was her first time killing someone, and she never imagined that a person's death throes could be so desperate, such a crazed struggle. Tang Yumeng curled up in a corner, her beautiful eyes filled with panic and fear, overwhelmed with dread.
Before long, Hong Chuan gradually stopped struggling and slowly closed his eyes. After his last breath, Lin Chuan let go of his foot. A large pool of blood remained on the office floor, and Hong Chuan's body just lay there on the office floor.
"Sis, are you okay?" Lin Chuan walked towards Tang Yumeng.
"Lin Chuan, I... I killed someone." Tang Yumeng rushed into Lin Chuan's arms.
"No, you didn't kill anyone, you were just claiming a life." Lin Chuan comforted her softly: "He deserved to die, he killed innocents, he'd done many absolutely heartless things."
"But, it was a human life after all." Tang Yumeng sobbed.
"He was no better than a pig or dog." Lin Chuan said coldly: "Think of him as a dog, what you killed wasn't a person, but a dog. Understand?"
"I..." Tang Yumeng was at a loss for words for a moment.
"Let's go, we should leave here." Lin Chuan said.
"Okay!" Tang Yumeng nodded.
Lin Chuan, with his arm around Tang Yumeng's waist, walked slowly towards the exit. Opening the office door, everything outside was quiet, deathly silent. All the staff were busy with their own work, no one noticed what had happened inside the CEO's office. Exiting the office, Lin Chuan turned around to close the office door and then slowly walked outside.
Tang Yumeng trembled all over, not only because she had killed someone but also because she feared being discovered. Once found out, not to mention losing her official position, she would also get Lin Chuan in trouble.
"Mr. Lin, take care." The receptionist said hastily.
"Okay!" Lin Chuan immediately nodded.
After Lin Chuan and Tang Yumeng left, the receptionist continued to stand at her post, working. Her mind kept replaying Tang Yumeng's beauty and Lin Chuan's handsomeness. She always wondered how there could be such a handsome man and such a beautiful woman in the world?
Ah!!
About half an hour later, a piercing scream came from the office area.
Everyone was startled: "Lisa, what's the matter?"
"The CEO... the CEO, he... he's dead!" Lisa stood at the office door, her face pale, nearly out of her mind.
"Ah?" Upon hearing this, everyone rushed towards the CEO's office.
The scene in the office astonished everyone; Chairman Hong lay on the ground, beneath him a large puddle of fresh blood.
"Call the police, call the police!" An employee who had come to his senses shouted urgently.
Suddenly, the office of over a hundred people became chaotic.
Meanwhile, Lin Chuan and Tang Yumeng, the murderers, had already made their escape. They took a taxi from the Kowloon District and sped all the way to the customs checkpoint. At the checkpoint, police were lined up, checking thoroughly. Seeing this, Lin Chuan quickly grabbed Tang Yumeng's hand and said, "It seems we can't get through here."
"Ah? Ah... What should we do?" Tang Yumeng was a bit scared. The murder was impulsive, and now, whenever she thought about the consequences, she felt waves of fear. She wasn't afraid of taking responsibility herself but feared getting Lin Chuan involved. Biting her red lips, Tang Yumeng said, "Lin Chuan, this time I've dragged you into this."
"I'm not afraid." Lin Chuan smiled: "As long as you're okay, sis."
After speaking, Lin Chuan hailed another car and they headed to downtown Hong Kong, where they checked into a hotel.
The most dangerous place is actually the safest. The police search would definitely be focused on all the major ports and customs. They would never imagine that they had actually checked into a hotel in the Kowloon District. Therefore, staying in a hotel at this time was actually the safest option.
Of course, starting tomorrow, the police will probably begin a stricter search of all major hotels.
However, Lin Chuan was not afraid. He decided to figure out how to leave this accursed place tonight.
In the hotel room, Tang Yumeng curled up on the couch, her body trembling uncontrollably. She was scared, she was panicking...
"Lin Chuan, staying in this hotel, is it really okay?" Tang Yumeng asked fearfully.
"Don't worry." Lin Chuan showed a brilliant smile.
Hong Chuan's death stunned the whole of Hong Kong, alarming both the police and the Hong Gang. Lin Chuan and Tang Yumeng were quickly identified as suspects, and the police even issued a notice, offering a substantial reward.
Yet, Lin Chuan and Tang Yumeng continued to stay in the hotel, and the daytime hours whisked by.
At night, the contact person was about to arrive shortly.
In the hotel, Tang Yumeng was sleeping with her arms around Lin Chuan, completely worn out from the stress of the day. Despite this, she could only fall asleep with her arms around Lin Chuan; otherwise, she couldn't sleep at all. She slept from four in the afternoon until seven in the evening.
Lin Chuan sat on the sofa, with Tang Yumeng's head resting on his thigh, her arms tightly holding Lin Chuan's arm, as if afraid that he would slip away by accident. Lin Chuan's right hand gently stroked Tang Yumeng's smooth and delicate face, and her hair that scattered over him. She was a very beautiful woman, one that would make all the men in the world risk everything. She had a proud figure, and a breathtaking beauty.
Any man holding a woman with such an impressive figure and such beautiful features could not possibly be without thoughts.
Especially since Tang Yumeng was lying on his feet now, her white blouse revealing swathes of her snowy skin. And those subtly visible peaks. However, at this moment, Lin Chuan appeared to be very indifferent. His heart was calm, without any restless thoughts, and devoid of any wild and fanciful ideas.
At this moment, Tang Yumeng opened her eyes and asked, "Lin Chuan, what time is it?"
"Half-past seven!" Lin Chuan replied.
"So late?" Tang Yumeng was startled, and said, "Didn't you say we could leave tonight?"
"Yes!" Lin Chuan nodded and said, "Someone will come to pick us up soon."
"Where is the person?" asked Tang Yumeng.
Knock knock knock...
A series of knocking on the door sounded.
"Speak of the devil, and he shall appear," Lin Chuan joked.
Lin Chuan got up to open the door. Outside, a man dressed in a police uniform stepped in, carrying a huge bag on his back. He glanced at Lin Chuan and said, "Mr. Lin, I am the one Silver Fox dispatched to rendezvous with you."
"Come in," Lin Chuan nodded.
Then, the man looked around the hotel corridor before quickly entering.
Upon entering the hotel, the man immediately set down his bag and said, "The city is swarming with police, and the Hong Gang is also frantically searching for you. It's very dangerous in Hong Kong now. If you don't take the opportunity to escape tonight, you might never get another chance to leave."
"You should have arranged everything for us, right?" Lin Chuan asked.
"Yes!" The man nodded and said, "You'll need to change into these clothes first!"
After saying that, the man took out two sets of brand-new police uniforms from his bag. He continued, "First, we need to throw them off the scent, and then head to the dock to find a human smuggler; that's the only way to get back to the mainland. So you need to hurry up."
Lin Chuan nodded in agreement; his thoughts were largely in line with what the man had planned.
Lin Chuan and Tang Yumeng immediately put on the police uniforms and followed the man out the door.
The three of them lined up, the man leading the way, Tang Yumeng in the middle, and Lin Chuan at the back, a dummy pistol hanging at his waist, a walkie-talkie clipped to his shoulder, a baton in hand. From a distance, they looked just like three officers on patrol duty. They accessed the underground parking lot using the elevator and got into the man's police car.
The police car left the hotel, sirens blaring, passing through several intersections; whenever they encountered police checkpoints, they were allowed through almost immediately upon seeing their vehicle. This made Tang Yumeng breathe a sigh of relief. Without this policeman covertly coordinating with them, escaping from Kowloon District would have been a challenging task.
Just when Tang Yumeng thought everything would go smoothly from there on, what she saw next took her by surprise.
Not far away, more than twenty people were standing at an intersection stopping cars; all passing vehicles were being halted.
"These are the Hong Gang members," the driving policeman said urgently: "Looks like we've got some trouble."
"These guys probably aren't very familiar with Hong Chuan," Lin Chuan chuckled: "We're already out of Kowloon; they're just trying to extort some money from motorists passing by."
Indeed, as Lin Chuan had expected, the others were indeed out for money.
"Hey, is that the officers?" the man teased: "This road was built by us; you gotta pay to use this road, right?"
"Police on a case, step aside immediately," the driving policeman commanded sternly.
"Tsk tsk, playing it tough?" the man laughed: "You want to get through? Sure, but you have to pay!"
The driving policeman knew they wouldn't pass without paying, and promptly tossed over a thousand Hong Kong dollars. Receiving the money, the man suddenly beamed with joy, bowing and scraping: "Take it easy, officers, take it easy."
Little did they know, the very people they were searching for were in the car.
These disciples of the Hong Gang were in fact ordered to block the road and search for the killers. But they didn't expect the killers to appear here. Thinking it was unlikely, they decided to extract some extra cash by stopping and charging vehicles passing the road. Unbeknownst to them, this action had actually allowed Lin Chuan and Tang Yumeng to escape.
Soon, the car arrived at the dock.
There was already a snakehead waiting to meet them at the dock.
Lin Chuan and Tang Yumeng immediately boarded the yacht. On the boat were three men, the leader being a bald man in beach shorts, who looked to be in his forties or fifties. The other two men looked younger, but the expressions on their faces did not belong to newcomers to the underworld.
