Chapter 606: Revenge
"Three hundred thousand is not enough, you were just saying two million." The other party immediately demanded a huge increase.
"What are you saying, you're deliberately toying with us?" Lin Chuan asked coldly.
"Heh heh, so what if I am?" Old Wu sneered: "If you don't want the information, feel free not to transfer the money."
After saying that, the other party unceremoniously hung up the phone.
Tang Yumeng became anxious, but Lin Chuan revealed a strangely sly smile. They immediately stopped a taxi and headed straight for the address sent by Miss Lan. It's located at No. 9 Wanglong Road, Wangcheng Slope. A dilapidated residential building, three stories high, with a fenced space in front and back filled with a variety of blooming flowers, and a man in a white tank top was hoeing weeds in the garden with a straw hat on. His skin was dark, and he had a cigarette in his mouth.
Lin Chuan and Tang Yumeng walked over slowly.
Lin Chuan glanced at the man from a distance, then approached him: "Uncle, is this No. 9 Wanglong Road?"
"Yes, who are you looking for?" The man turned his head to have a look at Lin Chuan and Tang Yumeng and immediately sensed trouble. He turned and ran.
"Trying to run? It won't be that easy!" Lin Chuan dashed forward in a burst of speed.
The guy was no match for Lin Chuan. In the blink of an eye, Lin Chuan had rushed in front of him and blocked his way. The man in the tank top glared at Lin Chuan, "Kid, what do you want to do? This is Hong Kong, not somewhere you Mainlanders can mess around as you please."
Lin Chuan sneered, then said: "Are you Liu Wujun? The one known on the streets as Old Wu?"
"Who are you?" Old Wu's eyes widened.
"You took five hundred thousand from us, and you still don't recognize us?" Lin Chuan asked with a smile.
Hiss...
Old Wu immediately gasped. He thought enemies had come for revenge, but it turned out to be these two? How could two people from Mainland manage to find his residence so easily? It was utterly shocking.
Old Wu was completely dumbfounded and said, "How… how did you find this place?"
"You don't need to worry about that." Lin Chuan sneered: "Are you going to spit out the information about those people willingly, or should I punch it out of you, one hit at a time?"
"How dare you!" Old Wu took off his straw hat, revealing his balding, Mediterranean hairstyle; he was bald in the middle of his head, looking every bit the sleazy uncle. He glared at Lin Chuan and said, "This is Hong Kong, you can't cause a ruckus here."
"Cause a ruckus?" Lin Chuan sneered: "You scammed us out of five hundred thousand. If things really get serious, we'll see who's truly causing a ruckus here."
"You!" Old Wu was furious. Suddenly threatened by Lin Chuan, he felt a surge of anger welling up from within.
"I advise you to spill the beans about those people honestly." Lin Chuan said with a smile: "To avoid unnecessary pain."
"Alright, I'll talk." Old Wu nodded hurriedly.
"If you dare deceive me, I can assure you that you won't get off easily." Lin Chuan said with a cold smile.
Old Wu quickly named three individuals and provided their addresses and some other information to Lin Chuan. From the look in his eyes, Lin Chuan could judge that what he was saying was most likely false, not a bit of truth in it. However, to verify the veracity of the information, Lin Chuan sent it to the Blue Enchantress. Before long, the feedback confirmed Lin Chuan's suspicion.
Bang...
Lin Chuan landed a punch.
Splat...
Old Wu immediately fell onto the lawn, spitting out a mouthful of bloody saliva mixed with a yellow, rotten tooth. The loss of that tooth caused him immense pain. He roared, "You... What right do you have to hit me!"
"This Zhang San you mentioned is just a scrap collector in the Kowloon District. This Chen Weijun you told us about is also just an ordinary employee in Kowloon..." Lin Chuan was furious: "You dare to fool us with fake information. Damn it, I won't kill you today, but I'll make you wish you were dead!"
After saying that, Lin Chuan grabbed a broken chair and swung it with all his might at Old Wu.
Boom, boom, boom...
The hefty wooden chair smashed into Long Wu's body again and again, quickly falling apart, and Old Wu rolled in agony among the flowers, screaming in pain. After the beating, he finally gave in.
"Stop... stop hitting me, I… I'll talk!" Long Wu said urgently.
"Alright, I'll give you one more chance." Lin Chuan sneered: "If you dare to fool us again, I have a thousand ways to make you wish for death!"
"I wouldn't dare anymore, I wouldn't!" Long Wu shook his head frantically.
Lin Chuan glanced at him, his foot pressing down on Long Wu's chest, and roared, "Speak!"
"It... It was Hong Chuan." Long Wu hurriedly said, "The robbery case back in Mainland years ago, it was Hong Chuan and his gang. I heard they killed someone, and then they all fled back to Hong Kong. In the end, the case went unsolved. As for the victim, they didn't know him. They only found out it was a man named Tang Hao who was killed after seeing it on Mainland TV."
Tang Yumeng's face turned icy.
"Make it clear, tell me everything you know about Hong Chuan," Lin Chuan demanded.
"Yes, yes, yes!" Long Wu hurriedly nodded.
He described everything he knew about Hong Chuan in detail. Hong Chuan was a minor leader of the Hong Gang. Back when he was just a lackey, he followed the boss to the mainland to hustle, and later he planned a robbery. It was that robbery in Jiangbei City that was supposed to kill Tang Yumeng, but instead Tang Hao took the bullet for her. Now, years later, Hong Chuan's boss was hacked to death during a mass brawl. Naturally, Hong Chuan ascended to the position of the boss.
Lin Chuan sneered, "If this information is fake, I'll kill you right away."
"No, it's absolutely true!" Old Wu hastily said, "This information is one hundred percent true. Hong Chuan inadvertently revealed this to me when we were drinking. If I didn't need the money, I wouldn't have betrayed him."
"Good," Lin Chuan nodded and said, "Since that's the case, I'll have to inconvenience you for now."
Having said that, Lin Chuan tied Old Wu up with rope to a chair, which was firmly bound to a pillar nearby. After completing this, Lin Chuan led Tang Yumeng away.
"I didn't expect..." Tang Yumeng suddenly choked up.
"What's wrong?" Lin Chuan asked.
"I didn't expect things to turn out this way," Tang Yumeng said tearfully: "I thought this was an assassination aimed at me, but it turns out to be an unexpected disaster. It was originally a robbery, which later turned into a murder."
"So, you have even less reason to blame yourself!" Lin Chuan consoled her.
"How can I not blame myself?" Tang Yumeng said tearfully, "If it weren't for me insisting on taking Tang Hao out that day, he wouldn't have fallen into misfortune, right?"
"It's all in the past," Lin Chuan embraced Tang Yumeng, then softly consoled, "We are about to avenge Tang Hao."
"Mm!" Tang Yumeng nodded.
Tang Yumeng was a bit agitated, her entire body trembling. Now that the time for revenge had come, she felt extremely excited and nervous.
Hong Gang is an old gang in Hong Kong, established for decades, and has now infiltrated all layers of Hong Kong society. It's almost impossible to destroy Hong Gang. However, for Lin Chuan, killing a minor leader within the Hong Gang was naturally as easy as flipping one's hand.
In a high-rise building in Central, there was a foreign trade company called Shengtai Trade. This was one of Hong Chuan's properties, and it was also his most important asset, crucial for generating tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars a year for Hong Chuan. Typically, if there was nothing else to do, Hong Chuan would come to the Shengtai Trade company's offices.
All this information was contributed by Miss Lan from behind the scenes for Lin Chuan. And all this intelligence was pulled from the National Security system through Miss Lan's access. With Miss Lan providing support, Lin Chuan had it exceedingly easy.
"Lin Chuan, what are we doing here?" Tang Yumeng asked.
"Do you want to avenge Tang Hao?" Lin Chuan turned to look at Tang Yumeng.
"I do!" Tang Yumeng nodded earnestly.
"Then follow me," Lin Chuan took Tang Yumeng's hand.
"But... I'm scared!" Tang Yumeng withdrew her hand slightly.
"Don't be afraid with me here," Lin Chuan said seriously, "I will protect you."
"Mm." Tang Yumeng mustered her courage.
Lin Chuan led Tang Yumeng straight into the building and headed toward the Shengtai Trade company.
Hong Kong's office buildings are very clean and orderly. Entrance into office buildings is prohibited without wearing a suit and tie. Despite a whole day of running around, Lin Chuan was still impeccably dressed in a stylish tailcoat, showing no signs of fatigue and instead, remarkably full of spirit.
A day's running around was not in vain after all, at least he had found the murderer who killed Tang Hao, that much was without a doubt.
The two of them walked out of the elevator and directly into the gate of Shengtai Trade.
Seeing visitors, the receptionist asked politely, "Sir, miss, may I ask who you are looking for?"
"Is Hong Chuan around?" Lin Chuan asked.
The receptionist examined Lin Chuan and Tang Yumeng carefully; their attire and demeanor were not that of ordinary people. If it were someone else, the receptionist would have probably already used an excuse to send them away. But given the impressive dressing and aura of the two, the receptionist smiled and said, "Sir, do you have an appointment?"
"No," Lin Chuan shook his head.
"If you don't have an appointment, you cannot see President Hong," the receptionist said with a smile, "However, I can pass on the message for you. If President Hong is willing to see you, he'll let you in, okay?"
"Mm!" Lin Chuan nodded.
Tang Yumeng was so nervous she couldn't speak, about to meet the murderer who had killed her brother years ago. She would never forget that ferocious face from her memory. When the gun was fired, the killer's face had a disdainful smile. It was a disregard for life, a trample on another's life. That was why she needed to seek revenge, even if she had to search to the ends of the earth, even if it took an eternity.
