Chapter 67: Chapter 61
"Under the Dark Night Legend." Akira saw the kindness in this person's tone and said simply.
"Are you a legend of the night?" Before Hino Tatsuya could speak, a man on Akira's right said in surprise.
Akira looked at these people suspiciously. Was the title of "Dark Night Legend" really that well-known?
"Any insight?" Akira asked as he glanced at the man who spoke.
"No, I'm Yuasa Yuki. Please give me your advice." Yuasa Yuki smiled and extended a hand. Akira didn't want to be rude, so he shook it briefly.
Akira greeted them casually before walking to the exchange office. He exchanged all the chips for Japanese yen and transferred the money to his bank card.
This type of large casino had more than tens of billions of yen circulating every day, so paying Akira's 30 million yen was a trivial matter.
---
"My friend, I think you've won a lot of money. Don't you plan to give the Heroes Casino a bit of a benefit?" Akira was stopped by the senior manager as he approached the exit.
Akira glanced at him. "No plan."
"Uh…" Manager Takagi didn't expect Akira to be so blunt. By the time he recovered, Akira had already taken the elevator and left. Takagi's expression darkened, and he immediately made a call.
Akira couldn't care less about these people. Greedy scoundrels trying to strong-arm him wouldn't get their way easily.
Taking the money, Akira left the underground Heroes casino contentedly. As he exited, he sensed four people trailing him from behind using his heightened awareness.
"It seems Manager Takagi doesn't want to let this go…" Akira muttered as he casually observed his followers. If Takagi wanted a confrontation, Akira would oblige.
"What's the origin of this guy?" a bald-headed man whispered to the bearded man beside him.
The bearded man shook his head. "No idea. All I know is that he has 30 million yen on him. Manager Takagi said to take both his hands and an eye. After that, we bring it back. The four of us can split five million yen."
"Five million?" The bald-headed man licked his lips greedily. "This guy is as good as dead."
"Remember, no killing. Don't mess this up!" the bearded man warned.
"Got it." The bald man grinned.
The four of them were clearly full of greed. They only needed to follow Akira to an isolated location to strike. Even if Akira stayed home, they would bide their time. Sooner or later, he'd have to leave.
However, Akira had no intention of leading them to his home. Instead, he deliberately headed for a more remote area where surveillance cameras were sparse. If someone wanted to deal with him, he would deal with them first.
"Why don't you show yourselves?" Akira said aloud as he came to a dead end.
The bald man snickered as he stepped forward. "Looks like you're smarter than I thought."
Akira turned to face them, calmly assessing the group. The bearded man appeared to be the strongest, followed by the bald man. The other two seemed like nothing more than support.
"Did you even bother finding out who I am before coming here?" Akira asked coolly.
"I couldn't care less who you are," the bald man sneered. "You crossed Manager Takagi, so you have to pay the price."
Akira chuckled. "Oh? And what price would that be?"
"Takagi wants both your hands and one eye. Pick which one you want to keep. As for the 30 million yen, we'll be taking that too," the bald man declared arrogantly.
The bearded man frowned slightly. Had Matsuzaki gone too far? Something about the way Akira stood his ground unnerved him. Was Akira overly confident or just bluffing?
Still, Muto dismissed his doubts. He stroked his beard and decided his years of combat experience and quirk mastery were more than enough for someone like Akira.
Akira's gaze turned icy. Takagi's ruthlessness would have spelled doom for anyone else in his position.
"This so-called Heroes casino is a joke," Akira said coldly. "I was misled into thinking it was reputable."
He thought back to his past. In his previous life, he had lived a sheltered life in a Taoist temple, far removed from the world's darkness. It had left him somewhat naïve about such schemes.
"You're not qualified to criticize the Heroes casino," the bald man scoffed. "Even people stronger than you wouldn't dare step out of line. Yet here you are, flaunting your winnings without giving a cut. You've got a death wish."
"I'd like to see how you plan to take my hands and eyes," Akira said with a dangerous edge to his voice. Though he wouldn't kill them, he would make them regret crossing him.
"Take him down!" the bald man ordered, and the two lackeys behind him rushed forward, quirks activated.
As they closed in, Akira's hands moved in a blur. A sharp gust of wind struck them like a physical force, hurling them into the walls on either side of the alley. They slumped to the ground, unconscious.
"What the—?" Muto's face twisted in shock. He hadn't expected Akira's quirk to manifest so suddenly and so powerfully. The invisible force seemed otherworldly, catching him off guard.
Still, Muto was no pushover. He steeled himself and stepped forward. "Matsuzaki, wait!" he called out, but the bald man was already charging.
Matsuzaki closed the gap in a single bound, his right hand glowing ominously. Akira didn't immediately react, curious to see the nature of his opponent's quirk.
The glow in Matsuzaki's hand coalesced into a small, pitch-black sphere, the size of a baby's fist. With a sneer, Matsuzaki thrust it toward Akira, sending it flying at high speed.
Akira's eyes narrowed. The black orb was fast, but his reflexes were faster. He extended his hands, summoning an air barrier to intercept it. At the same time, he manipulated the air's density around the sphere to slow its approach.
*Crack!* A faint sound echoed. Akira's expression shifted slightly as he realized the black orb had shattered his air barrier and continued its relentless advance.
