Chapter 587: The Calm Before the Storm
Geng Li noticed someone making a phone call on the airplane and casually reminded them to stop.
She didn't expect the person to whip around suddenly, glaring at her with eyes full of hostility.
Geng Li felt a jolt in her chest and then froze in surprise when she realized it was Chen Bin.
After hanging up the call, an annoyed Chen Bin said.
"Whenever I meet you, nothing good happens!"
Geng Li's temper flared too, and she retorted indignantly.
"What do you mean by that?"
She'd encountered plenty of difficult passengers, but Chen Bin had left a particularly deep impression on her.
During their first encounter, she had worried about being reported.
Thankfully, it was just a false alarm in the end.
Still, the fact that Chen Bin was so angry during his previous call puzzled her.
And now he was acting the same way again?
Could it be that this guy had grown up eating gunpowder?
Chen Bin was already in a bad mood and didn't want to get entangled with her.
He snapped, "Could you be more annoying? Just get out of my sight already!"
Geng Li was about to retort again, but seeing the other passengers still finding their seats, she decided not to fuel the argument any further.
Halfway through the flight, Chen Bin suddenly needed to use the restroom.
As soon as he reached the bathroom door, he ran into Geng Li, who also wanted to use it.
Without showing a shred of courtesy, Chen Bin was about to push the door open.
Geng Li immediately challenged him, "Why are you so rude? Have you ever heard of ladies first?"
"I'm a passenger. Do I need to be polite to you?"
Geng Li understood his reasoning, but remembering how he had treated her earlier…
She decided to provoke him on purpose, "At the very least, you should follow the first-come-first-served principle, right? I was clearly here first."
Chen Bin frowned, looking visibly impatient.
"The plane has two bathrooms. Go to the other one!"
"There's someone in the other one."
"Then don't you know how to wait?"
"Why don't you wait?"
"I don't have time to argue with you. Move now!"
As he spoke, Chen Bin pushed her aside.
Just as he opened the door, Geng Li blocked him again.
"Why should I let you go first? I insist on going in before you!"
"Fine, let's go in together then!"
With that, Chen Bin grabbed her and shoved her into the bathroom.
He followed her inside and shut the door behind him.
"You… what are you doing?"
Geng Li had never been in such a situation before; her face turned pale with fright.
Pointing at the toilet, Chen Bin said, "Aren't you fighting with me for it? Go ahead, ladies first!"
"You're crazy!"
Geng Li prepared to open the door and leave, but she suddenly heard movement outside.
Afraid of being misunderstood, she froze in embarrassment.
At this moment, Chen Bin urged her again.
"Are you going or not?"
"I'm not going!"
"Fine, don't say I didn't give you the opportunity."
As he spoke, Chen Bin began unbuckling his belt, causing Geng Li to hurriedly turn away.
The unsettling sound of him relieving himself filled the air, making Geng Li's face flush red with shame.
After finishing, Chen Bin flushed the toilet.
While fastening his belt, he took a moment to glance at Geng Li's side profile.
Her looks and figure were undeniably striking.
Especially her chest—the pair of White Jade Peaks almost rivaled Ma Juan's.
When Geng Li noticed the silence, she turned her head, only to catch Chen Bin staring at her.
Furious, she snapped, "What are you looking at?"
"I'm looking at the ugliest person here."
Knock knock knock…
The door was continuously knocked on, accompanied by a male voice from outside.
"Excuse me, can you hurry up?"
Chen Bin's mind shifted in an instant, and he yelled loudly towards the door.
"Sure! Wait just a second, I'm speeding up!"
Following that, he began slapping the door and shouting exaggeratedly.
"Ah… So satisfying, so good!"
Geng Li was both humiliated and enraged. She shoved Chen Bin aside angrily.
"What's wrong with you? Are you insane?"
Chen Bin ignored her completely, opened the door deliberately, and pretended to adjust his pants.
To the man at the door, he said, "Sorry, buddy, hope you didn't wait too long."
The man was about to step inside but froze when he spotted Geng Li. His expression instantly became awkward.
Unable to bear the embarrassment, Geng Li wanted to disappear into thin air.
She quickly bolted out of the restroom and hid in the work area.
"That awful man. Just you wait!"
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. Eventually, Geng Li decided to teach Chen Bin a lesson.
Pushing the beverage cart over to Chen Bin's seat, she approached him with a smile.
"Sir, would you like something to drink?"
Chen Bin glanced at her and shook his head.
"No, thanks."
"Traveling can be tiring. You really should have something to drink."
As she spoke, Geng Li poured a glass of juice and handed it to Chen Bin.
Chen Bin's brows furrowed as he responded impatiently.
"Do you not understand human speech? I said I don't want it, and you… What the hell!"
Before he could finish, Geng Li splashed the entire glass of juice onto him.
What followed was Chen Bin's angry outburst.
"If I don't want it, leave it alone! Why did you push me?"
Watching Geng Li walk away, Chen Bin clenched his fists, trembling with rage.
Pulling tissues from his pocket, he wiped off the juice and began plotting how to retaliate.
Unfortunately, by the time the plane landed, he still hadn't found a way.
So, as he disembarked, he left a threatening remark for Geng Li.
"Just wait until next time; I'll deal with you then!"
Seeing Chen Bin's furious face, Geng Li felt a deep sense of satisfaction.
She gave him a sweet, mocking smile and said.
"Sir, it was a pleasure serving you. We look forward to seeing you again on this airline."
After getting off the plane, Chen Bin immediately took a cab to New Tower Base.
The sight of the still-smoldering fireworks residue and the burnt-down main building filled him with bitterness.
Was the feng shui of the new base all wrong? Why did trouble keep happening?
He then instructed the driver to head to the Provincial Committee.
Originally planning to meet Zeng Pengchao, he learned that Zeng wasn't in.
He'd have to wait until after the Spring Festival for him to return.
Preparing to leave, Chen Bin found out that Li Lu was still in his office.
So he knocked and walked in.
Li Lu sat at his desk smoking in silence. When he saw Chen Bin, he frowned slightly.
"What are you doing here?"
Chen Bin furrowed his brows, his face full of worry.
"Secretary Li, am I finished this time?"
Pressing his cigarette stub into the ashtray, Li Lu sighed.
"I don't know. But as the station director, you bear undeniable responsibility for this fire."
"So… What did Secretary Zeng say about this?"
"He didn't say anything. But to be honest, I don't think he'll be able to protect you this time."
These words instantly crushed Chen Bin's spirit.
After saying goodbye to Li Lu, he went straight home.
For the next few days, everything remained peaceful, as though nothing had happened.
But precisely because of this, Chen Bin grew progressively more anxious.
He knew this had to be the calm before the storm…
