The Strongest Mad Son-in-law

Chapter 359: Da Zhuang is No Longer Strong

But even if he failed, what did it matter?

Could he really be worse off than he was now, almost penniless?

If Peixian dared to take a risk, why couldn't Li Xiangyang?

Thinking this, Li Xiangyang immediately said, "Peixian, I'll listen to you, let's take a chance!"

"Haha! Great! Let's quit our jobs right now!"

Peixian and Li Xiangyang went to the hotel's HR office, submitted their resignation letters, and then walked out without looking back.

Li Xiangyang asked, "What should we do next? Should we go directly to the Cao Family to take over the company?"

Peixian shook his head and said, "No, we have a way to make a fortune, but we can't forget our poor brothers from the old days. Let's go home together, find that group of people, and take them along with us to strive for success!"

"Good!" Li Xiangyang was instantly overwhelmed with emotion, ecstatic. He felt as if he had returned to the spirited and determined days when he first entered the martial arts school.

At night, darkness fell.

At the entrance of the dilapidated neighborhood where Peixian used to live, he arrived carrying several boxes of gifts.

Peixian put the gifts in the corner and said, "It's evening, Da Zhuang and the others should all be home. Let's go see them and try to persuade everyone. Although it's risky, it's not a big problem. I naturally won't forget my impoverished classmates from back then."

Li Xiangyang nodded, understanding Peixian's feelings and sincerely admiring his character.

Inside the run-down neighborhood, dim lights flickered everywhere.

The smell of garbage mixed with the scent of food from various households wafted over; others might cover their noses and be disgusted, but the people who lived here were used to it, and so were Peixian and Li Xiangyang.

This was a place where the poor lived, separated from the outside by just a wall, yet it felt like two different worlds.

The cries of children came intermittently, and the place Peixian and his companion were heading towards was where the cries were loudest.

Along with the crying, there was also a rough male voice scolding, "What are you crying about! All you know is to cry! You've been around this long and all you do is cry! Cry again and I'll sell you!"

Peixian shook his head slightly; Da Zhuang's temper was still as fiery.

As children, they were playmates, and back then, Da Zhuang was tall and robust with a volatile temper.

The children liked to play together in groups; there were often frictions among different groups, and their group could stand up to the bullying from other children's groups only because of Da Zhuang.

After graduating from the martial arts school, Da Zhuang found a job moving bricks on a construction site. Later, with his family's arrangement, he married a woman who was somewhat simple-minded, several years his senior. But for Da Zhuang, who lived a life of sheer hard labor and earned a meager monthly salary, it was sufficient.

Peixian snapped out of his reminisces, knocked on the door, and called out, "Da Zhuang! Da Zhuang, it's Peixian. I've come to see you with Xiangyang."

Instantly, the scolding voice inside stopped, and then Da Zhuang shouted, "Peixian, Xiangyang, hold on, I'm coming to open the door!"

Soon, with a screeching sound, harsh like fingernails scraping a blackboard, the door opened.

There stood a man taller than Li Xiangyang, with dark, glossy skin, a face showing signs of fatigue, yet wearing a simple, honest smile. He was, however, very thin.

He held a baby a few months old in his arms, his rough, dark palms contrasting sharply with the baby's tender skin.

Peixian and Li Xiangyang sighed inwardly, remembering the old Da Zhuang, who was significantly robust, tall, and sturdy. Now, he had become so thin, clearly due to overworking, scrimping on food, and lack of proper nutrition.

Da Zhuang laughed heartily, "What brings you guys here? Come in and sit."

Although they lived close to each other, everyone was striving to survive and naturally could not play together daily as they did when they were children.

Peixian smiled, nodded, and as Da Zhuang turned around, he picked up the gifts, walked inside, and set them down, saying, "These are some milk powder and tonics for the child and his mother to fortify themselves."

The woman sitting at the table, also quite thin, seemed to understand Peixian's words. She rubbed her hands together and smiled simply, unsure of what to say.

In contrast, in this household, only the rosy-cheeked child seemed to be the healthiest.

Da Zhuang quickly said, "Peixian, what are you doing? Just come to sit, why bring things? My aunt often needs medicine, which costs a lot! Please take these back, my kid and his mom are healthy; they don't need it."

Peixian smiled and said, "Da Zhuang, times have changed. Xiangyang and I have met a benefactor, and we're going to make it big."

"Ah? Ah! You met a benefactor!"

Da Zhuang's fleeting look of desolation quickly turned into a smile, "That's wonderful! You've endured such tough times for so long; it's indeed time for you to prosper."

He harbored no jealousy, just sincere good wishes.
