Chapter 10: Battle of Information
From the cave to the forest to the Fire Fall mountain, unto the border.
Ian had accumulated a lot of biomass. Even the dead bodies of beasts that his teammates killed were devoured by him. Ian was grateful for his teammate's generosity. They gave him the body of their spoils as they knew that eating a corpse would make him stronger. If not for them, he wouldn't have accumulated so much biomass.
Name: Ian
Race: Lesser Vampire
Height 4.75 meters
-Body Structure-
Internal:
Increased Bone Density.
External:
Skeletal Claws (retractable), Body Size (+3 meters) Increased Muscle Mass.
Biomass: 2,345
Now, he could finally afford the exoskeleton. Ian understood the danger in the borders. He's quite sure that among the werewolf invaders, there might be true werewolves this time!
As for high werewolves? Most of them are outside the border, waiting to slaughter vampires that dare to come out.
'So much trouble. The war between werewolves and vampires had brought danger to me. However, it's also an opportunity to accumulate biomass and become stronger.'
'Indeed, danger and opportunity coexist. If I don't even have the guts for this. Then, it would be a shame for me as a traverser.'
Currently, his captain and his teammates are around him. Although he wants to consume biomass for the exoskeleton. It wasn't the right place and the right time. It would be good to do it in the middle of the battle where there's no one watching.
How would he explain it to them? Well, he could just claim that it's an armor.
"Hmmm... There seems to be nothing noteworthy here on the border."
Daniel clicked his tongue as he swept the surroundings with his gaze.
Ahead of them, there are tall structures of destroyed buildings. Buildings such as clinics, shops of various types, and auction halls. With no exceptions, all of them had become ruins. Walls riddled with slashes from weapons, riddled with gun holes.
Gunpowder permeates the air. The smell of iron was strong.
Kate was forced to pinch his nose. "What the fuck is this stench. It's as if an apocalypse descended here and killed hundreds of its inhabitants.
Barseagle knotted his eyebrows with displeasure evident on his face. His eyes were sharp as a hawk as he tried to look around for ambush or traces of werewolves. In the far east only 30 meters away.
He saw a collapsed castle with its ceiling also on the verge of collapse. In the wall, there was a pain of dried blood. The castle stood 27 meters high.
"Be careful, they can attack us at any time. They may or may not have already spotted us."
As the captain, the team still trusts his judgment very much.
"It was rumored that a high werewolf fought senior high vampire Sam for eight days and eight nights, right? This destruction... Is it caused by them?" Ian scratched his head.
"Sam... He was a good friend of mine. In the old days, we fought the war side by side. He had surpassed me both in status and strength left far behind." A trace of melancholy appeared in Barseagle's eyes. "And yes, the entire border was just a mere playground for them. Both of them were injured in that fight and there was no clear victor." He sighed.
Liz drew a sharp breath as she couldn't imagine it. "High vampires and high werewolves are truly walking natural disasters!"
The five walked side by side. Barseagle was in the front while Ian was in the rear. Ian was responsible for guarding behind them in case the werewolves were cunning enough to sneak attack. With Ian's huge stature, they didn't have to worry about the pressure in the rear formation.
Liz was on the left while Kate was on the right with them sandwiching Daniel in the middle. In any formation, the center is always the safest. And the truth is, Daniel was slightly weaker than Liz and Kate.
In just a few minutes, they went ahead, maintaining their formation. Ian could see at a vantage point due to his height. Thus, he could naturally see more.
When they arrived just in front of the castle. A rustling sound appeared startling them.
BOOM!
Four men appeared. One was a bald middle-aged man with a scar that ran across his cheek. He looks fierce, and his entire demeanor exudes bloodlust. He wore a black jacket with a white polo inside. On his neck, a tattoo of the crack skull was too eye-catching.
Ian could deduce that he was the leader among the four of them.
The other three wore similar outfits, and their posture was lower than the bald middle-aged man.
"They finally sent someone here." The bald middle-aged man's tone couldn't be more impatient. He looked coldly at Barseagle's group. "I thought those damned nobles would choose to send someone capable. But I didn't expect it to be just a puny lineup."
"It seems they underestimated us boss." One of the subordinates of the bald man spoke with glee. The corner of his lips turned upward. "I've since long to tear apart vampires. I'll let the top brass see my capabilities!"
"Who do you think you are!?" Daniel glared at him. "Tear us apart? I'll tear your little wiener apart!"
"Y-you!" The bald man's subordinate couldn't help but glare back at Daniel.
"Hey, that's not appropriate to say." Ian's mouth twitched.
Good boy! Too vulgar... Such a poisonous mouth!
Barseagle had a black line on his face. "Stop fooling around!"
Kate and Liz looked at Daniel with disgust.
"So, why did they sent you here? What's your purpose going to our border? Are you not afraid of starting another war!?" Barseagle looked up and down at the bald man. He felt a hint threat and danger. 'This isn't good. They've sent someone dangerous.'
'This man seems to be someone difficult to deal with.'
Ian prepared himself. He would buy the exoskeleton at a moment's notice.
"Purpose? Why should we tell you?" The bald man crossed his arms with a provocative smile. "You know, It's hard to step on an ant without crushing it."
"HAHAHA! Well said, boss!" The brown-haired beside the bald man laughed boisterously.
Ian had the urge to punch him. 'Let me wipe that smile out of your face.'
Then, the bald leader took a look at Ian and thought secretly. 'What's up with this vampire? Why is he almost as big as true werewolves?' this abnormality made him pause for a moment. 'No matter. How could a vampire beat us in our own game of size?'
Liz and Kate clenched their fists.
