The Strongest Assassin of the Zoldyck Family!

Chapter 679

All one hundred people entered the ark, all choosing the identity of ordinary human. Then the elimination began. The later entrants started dying one after another.

On the second floor, the expressions of the Ten Dons darkened.

"What is going on? Who are these people?"

"How did they discover the ark's existence?"

"Are all our people outside already dead?"

The Underworld Mafia wasn't just the Ten Dons—it was a vast organization. Yet now, when the Ten Dons tried to contact those on the outside, they received no response at all. In reality, the outside world didn't know what was happening to the Ten Dons. Ron had already instructed Chii to intercept and replace all outgoing signals, substituting them with false signals she generated. As a result, those outside had no idea what was going on inside. In fact, Ron could even impersonate the Ten Dons to issue commands to the outside world.

The ark itself was indeed an extremely secure place. Ron had carefully analyzed the situation and found it unsurprising that the Ten Dons had such confidence in it. The initial identity selection itself was highly misleading: ordinary human, seed, data, guard, administrator. On the surface, ordinary human seemed like the most normal choice—but in a Nen-construct like the ark, could a normal choice truly be safe? Even a person who wasn't overly suspicious would hesitate. Without prior intelligence, it was already a lot for even one person out of ten to choose the identity of ordinary human.

Not everyone could probe and test the way Ron and Illumi did. Though they were young, within the Nen world they were already among the top-tier—both were A-rank Nen users, and even within A-rank they stood out. In the entire human world, S-rank Nen users were exceedingly rare. Just this single step of choosing an identity and figuring out the rules would already screen out nine out of ten entrants.

Then came the conditions for ordinary humans: only when there were ten or more participants would one slot to proceed to the second floor open up. Otherwise, they would remain trapped on the first floor forever. The first floor's life was fixed and rigid; few people could endure it long-term. Any rule-breaking meant instant death.

Even if ten people entered at once and all followed the rules perfectly, nine would still die, and only one could advance to the second floor. A lone individual facing the Ten Dons on the second floor stood no chance of victory. If many people entered, the Ten Dons could even descend during the second floor's open period and slaughter everyone on the first floor.

The only risk was that when the Ten Dons left the ark, someone else might occupy one of the twelve card slots. But the Ten Dons had guards stationed outside the ark, preventing most people from entering. When Ron and Illumi arrived, they had eliminated those guards first. But not everyone possessed Ron and Illumi's abilities.

Moreover, gaining the right to live in the ark didn't equate to having status or power in the outside world. The Ten Dons didn't become Ten Dons because they reached the ark's second floor—they became Ten Dons first, and that status allowed them to access the ark's second floor.

"What should we do? More people have come. They're still trying. When the door opens, do we still go kill them?"

"Yes, we must go. If we don't, and they reach us and reset everything, we'll be at a greater disadvantage."

"But if they dare to keep trying, they must have prepared something."

"Is it the Phantom Troupe again? Who are these people really? Why do they bear such hatred toward the Underworld Mafia?"

The Ten Dons were furious yet deeply puzzled. This was possibly the most serious attack the Underworld Mafia had ever suffered—the Shadow Beasts were dead, the experimental subjects from Lab No. 2 were dead, the auction had been attacked, and now even the Ten Dons themselves were under threat.

Creak—the door opened.

The Ten Dons exchanged glances, then, without hesitation, charged down to the first floor and began attacking the remaining people there, using Nen abilities granted by their cards.

But Ron already knew what abilities their cards represented.

Ox, Conjuration: wielding extremely sharp swords that could easily slice through steel.

Tiger, Enhancement: not only physical enhancement but also highly poisonous attacks, similar to the Shadow Beast Rabid Dog—but this poison could be delivered through both teeth and claws.

Rabbit, Manipulation: the ability to control corpses. However, on the first floor where Illumi could still use his own Nen abilities, this was no match for him. Both were A-rank Nen users, but Rabbit's ability was external while Illumi's skill was the result of rigorous training—his control far superior.

Dragon, Transmutation: could use ice-based abilities. Ron had encountered similar Nen users before, such as one from the Minpo Republic during the Kurta Clan massacre who also used ice abilities. Ron himself, using the Six Harmony Sphere, could fire frost Nen blasts.

Snake, Transmutation: fire-based abilities. Ron found this even easier to handle, since Natsu was completely immune to fire damage.

Horse, Enhancement: extreme physical enhancement, a power similar to Uvogin's.

Goat, Transmutation: could create bombs, much like the Bomber from Greed Island or Ron's own Nen beast, Killer Queen—but the Goat card's ability was far less terrifying than Killer Queen.

Monkey, Specialization: an ability that leaned toward Manipulation-type powers.

Rooster, Conjuration: conjured special weapons for combat. Unlike Ox, where the weapons were just a component, Rooster relied heavily on weapons for fighting.

Dog, Enhancement: could transform into a half-human, half-dog state, dramatically boosting strength after transformation.

Pig, Specialization: a hybrid of Specialization and Emission, capable of conjuring firearms with infinite ammunition. But this wasn't much of a threat to Ron. It resembled Franklin's ability—many Nen bullets, but individually weak, and thus ineffective against Ron. If Sasuke activated Susanoo, it could block all of it perfectly.

In short, Ron had already fully analyzed their abilities. The Ten Dons thought they could rely on the ark and their cards to maintain their supremacy, but all their tricks were now laid bare.
