Chapter 29: Chapter 29 (Bonus)
Chapter 29: Brawl
Meanwhile, Dutch and his group arrived at the saloon.
Inside, they found not only members of the O'Driscoll gang drinking but also many other patrons. Clearly, not everyone in town feared them.
As Dutch and his group entered, wearing deputy badges and accompanied by Deputy Cole, the pianist stopped playing, and the women stopped chatting with the customers, silently sipping their drinks.
"Deputy Cole, would you like to speak, or should I?" Dutch asked politely. Cole quickly shook his head, indicating Dutch should handle it.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I apologize for the interruption. The Valentine police are here. We're only after the O'Driscoll gang. Everyone else can continue drinking. O'Driscoll members, please raise your hands. Don't hide like cowards among the crowd."
As Dutch spoke, he scanned the room. He had already spotted a few people wearing the O'Driscoll gang's signature green bandanas. However, the saloon was packed, and it seemed nothing could stop these people from drinking.
For a moment, no one moved.
Charles, seeing the standoff, had an idea. He pulled the woman sitting on the lap of a man clearly dressed as an O'Driscoll member and said,
"Hey, how about a drink with me?"
The red-haired woman, laughing, slid into Charles's arms and said, "Look at you, as sturdy as teak wood! Much stronger than him."
"Hahaha, you're right. The O'Driscolls are all cowards."
The saloon erupted in laughter at Charles's words. The small O'Driscoll member, though not physically imposing, had a fiery temper. Unable to bear the mockery, he stood up and grabbed his collar.
Before he could utter a curse, Charles headbutted him, sending him crashing into the table behind him, breaking bottles and spilling drinks everywhere.
With the sound of breaking glass, all the saloon's patrons stood up, eyeing each other. The bartender had already quietly crouched down behind the counter, which had a three-finger-thick iron plate installed for good bulletproof protection. The women had started to quietly leave.
"Damn it!"
A shout and the sound of a bottle breaking over an O'Driscoll member's head signaled the start of the brawl.
No one could say who struck first.
Charles was the quickest to react. He grabbed a chair and threw it at a table full of O'Driscoll members. Others joined in their respective fights. Whether it was because of their announced presence or the Valentine deputy badges they wore, the townsfolk of Valentine spontaneously sided with Dutch's group. The situation quickly became one-sided, with multiple people ganging up on the O'Driscoll members.
Suddenly, a gunshot rang out. An O'Driscoll member, realizing he was losing, pulled out a gun but was grabbed by two townsfolk and pinned against the wall before he could aim. He fired a shot into the ceiling. Dutch seized the opportunity and punched the O'Driscoll member in the stomach.
The gunshot didn't scare anyone; it only intensified the beating of the O'Driscoll members.
It was clear that the O'Driscolls were scum, and in a saloon brawl, no decent person would pull out a gun. Despite the chaos, Dutch's side had the upper hand. The saloon was in disarray, but the O'Driscoll members were being singled out.
" Someone, come help!" Not everyone was having an easy time. Bill was being choked by two enemies.
"Can someone tell me what the hell is going on down here?!" As Bill called for help, a towering figure over six feet tall descended from the saloon's upper floor.
A Valentine townsman who recognized him shouted, "Big Tommy! Help us! These outsiders with green bandanas are causing trouble."
Big Tommy, hearing this, grabbed an O'Driscoll member by the back of his neck and dragged him several steps.
"Come here, you little punk."
He threw the man aside and grabbed the head of the one choking Bill, slamming it against the saloon counter with a loud bang. After breaking a tap, he lifted the man and threw him out of the window.
The shattered glass and loud noise brought the chaotic brawl to a sudden halt.
Big Tommy surveyed the room and asked,
"Anyone else?"

At the clinic, Arthur directed the clinic owner to the iron door. The owner knocked and said, "It's me, open the door."
Inside, someone grumbled, "What is it? I told you not to disturb us unless it's important."
The iron door opened, and Arthur pushed the owner inside. He quickly assessed the room, seeing four people. He fired his gun, emptying the clip. The O'Driscoll member counting money at the table and the one in bed with a woman were killed instantly, without a chance to draw their weapons.
The O'Driscoll member who had been knocked to the ground crawled toward the back door, only to be met by Hosea pointing a gun at him, forcing him back inside.
With that, the situation was under control. Kieran, seeing this, sheepishly put away his gun.
Arthur, seeing the lone surviving O'Driscoll member, pulled a chair and forced him to sit. Kieran tied him up, reminiscing about his own capture.
Hosea, meanwhile, ushered the frightened woman out of the room, while the clinic owner sat in a corner, too scared to run or look.
With the situation under control, Arthur sent Hosea to check on Dutch and his group. If they didn't need help, Hosea would inform them that the clinic was secured, and then they would return.
Arthur then turned to the captured O'Driscoll member and said,
"I really don't want to say this every time before questioning an O'Driscoll, but remember, I only ask once. Understood?"
Arthur delivered a right hook, followed by a left hook, and then a straight punch.
Kieran, watching this, couldn't help but say,
"Mr. Morgan, why do you punch him right after saying that? You didn't even ask a question. How is he supposed to answer?"
Arthur shrugged. He couldn't exactly say he disliked the O'Driscolls. Regardless of the truth of the old sheriff's story, he found the O'Driscolls disgusting.
To give Kieran some face, Arthur stopped punching and asked,
"So, do you want to talk now? This is a rare opportunity, thanks to Kieran."
"Kieran Duffy... you traitor! You're dead!"
Frustrated, Arthur punched him again and said to Kieran,
"He doesn't appreciate your kindness. I need to rescue the sheriff urgently, so Kieran, go get us something to drink."
