The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth

Chapter 153: Sea of swords

Vacuse didn't even register all of that. His eyes were filled with greed as he saw the Phoenix feather that was now his own.

On the other side, Duke Lavi shrugged. "Well... it seems we know who the first kill would be."

Duke Draemir was just of the same opinion. He even frowned. "To be honest, I thought the Vorrakyn would create something to surprise us, but isn't this just a little too... small? What is a single person supposed to do?"

Duke Lavi snorted. "We'll be done here even more quickly than I expected. I left the very beautiful Lady of the Red Leaves behind. I have to warm her up for her dead husband after all."

Duke Draemir flashed a look of envy as he heard that. He should have been the one to get to her first. He sighed, then he blinked. "Oh? He's stopping?"

Indeed, Vacuse had stopped running.

And all attention was focused on him.

'...Rith... are you ready...'

'...of course...'

Then Vacuse raised his hand. His ring glowed a strange red that it had never shown before. And then he reached out into empty space as if he was trying to hold something and drag it out.

And he did drag something out.

It was a sword wrapped in a strange black cloth with even darker bloodstains.

Immediately, all attention went from Vacuse to the thing he was holding.

A lot of people were left confused.

"Is he truly going to fight with that sword?"

"Isn't it a little bit too suicidal, or does he want to go down burning in glory and hope his name would be linked to courage and bravery?"

"I thought he was trying to pull some tricks, but it was really a sword. So the mad Dragon is really going to fight the army with a sword."

But for some people, the strong type, they felt uncomfortable when they saw the sword wrapped in black cloth. It wasn't because they recognized it, rather it was because when they tried to use their senses to look through the cloth to the sword, they couldn't see through it.

The cloth had concealment power that was blocking them, and that immediately put them on edge.

Of course, the cloth was the Ashen Wrap artifact that Vacuse took from his opponent back in the Orcs' territory.

Vacuse took a deep breath and his hand gripped the edge of the cloth.

Rith's voice came to him. '...be careful...'

Then without hesitation, he ripped the cloth free and revealed a sword! When the concealed cloth was removed, the sky turned red and the earth groaned.

The sword was red and dripping with blood that never fell. It was large and small at the same time, and it gave the feeling that it was the sharpest thing anyone had ever seen.

A howl of bloodlust ripped free, so loud and ground-shaking that everyone who heard it trembled. It came with a suffocating pressure that made anyone, no matter their rank, focus their attention on the sword while their insides shouted out... danger!

Air rose on the battlefield and eyes widened. Fear replaced mockery and disgust. Fear caused people to forget their depression as they gripped their swords even tighter.

Vacuse himself was drowning under the waves of the pressure, and the ground around him was compressed and shattered, and the red sky was already tumbling.

The two Dukes flinched and could only stare in absolute shock. "This... this is a War Artifact!"

"Quick, use the Phoenix feather!"

It was indeed a War Artifact. It was the War Artifact that belonged to the Orcs of the Warbines, one that Vacuse stole with Kagerou's help.

It was the Sword of the Unifier! The sword of the Orc that united the Orcs under his banner! The sword of the Chief of Chiefs!

Before the Dukes could do anything, Vacuse brought his hand down with a wordless scream. The sword in his hand came down and shone with brightening light, a redness that seemed to drown out everything else.

The sword energy that came out was about five hundred meters big and it shot into the rumbling sky. The whole sky above the battlefield flashed, and then swords of five hundred meters began to fall like rain.

There must have been hundreds of swords, blotting the sky above the Dukes' army.

The swords fell, crushing through shields and flesh as easily as knocking out mud houses. Just the swords falling must have killed thousands.

But that was only the beginning, as the sword erupted into tiny fragments of swords that were no longer than a finger. Those fragments combined and turned into a sea of swords that drowned the battlefield.

Each small fragmented sword carried the same power as the original, making even a single one difficult to fight.

Vacuse raised his sword and slashed at the sky another time. Then another. And another.

More than a thousand red projection swords had now turned into a sea of swords that drowned everything.

Screams and terrified shrieks came from the battlefield as the sea of swords raged, causing pools of blood to start covering the ground.

The Vorrakyn forces were left stunned. The observers were left shaken at the turn of events. Everyone in the Empire didn't know how things had turned out as they had.

When the projections disappeared, thousands of the two Dukes' forces were dead, including the Dukes themselves. But there were still some remaining, bloodied and wounded.

Vacuse raised the sword higher and then he pointed it, his voice reverberating. "Kill them all!"

There was a pause as everyone was trying to process things, but then the Vorrakyn forces let out ground-shaking roars and they began to rush forward like a tide.

Vacuse himself shot forward, ignoring the pain in his body as he made his way ahead. Someone blurred at incredible speed above him. Drenvar, his body covered in intense flame. "I will get the feather for you, boy!"

Drenvar's voice reached his ear and at the same time, Rith began speaking to him. '...Vacuse, we need to make use of this opportunity to devour as many bodies as we can get...!'
