The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth

Chapter 126: Betrayal I

He had long since thought about who might be the traitor, but he never thought it would be her. "Lyra Vorrakyn!"

Lyra looked at him coldly, then she turned toward Ragna. One by one, those who had already joined her stepped away from the group. They were a combination of both Dragon Guards members and New Dawn.

Lyra's eyes darkened. "Vacuse and his father... our father planned to kill Lord Ragna, but I couldn't let that happen since it would breach the peace we were maintaining as well as turn very unfavorable to our family!"

Everyone was deeply shocked by the turn of events. Captain Mera's face shuttered and she stood closer to Vacuse. Harkon stared at her, his hand on his sword, a disappointing look on his face.

Vacuse's face was filled with anger and his eyes went bloodshot with the need to cause violence. He never thought Lyra would betray him like that.

But now that he was thinking about it, he realized that she had never been loyal!

"You must be working for the Black Accord, Lyra!" Vacuse struggled to get his voice under control. "That was why you weren't there on the night of the attack and why it was easy to use an illusion of you!"

Lyra's eyes gleamed but she didn't agree to anything. "I wasn't there that night because I knew you planned to use the attack on everyone that night. And based on my calculations, you must be a member of the Black Accord."

Vacuse gritted his teeth and forced himself to calm down so he could analyze everything perfectly.

Someone was able to infiltrate the Dragon Guards, the New Dawn, and the lords in Kragthar. He had speculated that it must be someone in the Vorrakyn family, but he was never able to pinpoint who.

What's more, they were able to know the layout of the Castle and everything.

Vacuse's eyes turned incredibly cold as he thought about Duke Frexon and how the backbone he depended on must also be Lyra!

'...I thought I crushed her and would be able to use her but this little shit has been planning against me for who knows when....!

At the end, only dead people are reliable!

Vacuse's face and heart stiffened until he became expressionless. "Lyra Vorrakyn, as the Dragon heir, I represent the Dragon Lord in stripping you of your name and the family!"

She smiled, showing her teeth. "You are stripping me of my family and name just because I uncover your betrayal of the Orcs?"

Vacuse didn't reply.

He turned his attention to the First General who was now standing. "This is a grave issue concerning the Clan. The Elders and I will speculate on behalf of the High Chief. For now, take them to the prison!

"Kill anyone who resists!"

☆☆▪︎▪︎☆☆

Vacuse sat cross-legged in a dark prison.

But he wasn't meditating. He couldn't.

The prison was suppressing the Force or the usage of any power of any kind. He couldn't even summon or communicate with Rith.

He couldn't use a drop of Void energy.

He was the only one in the cell, a special privilege, while the others were crammed into the rest, including Captain Mera.

Vacuse had ordered all the diplomatic group to stand down earlier instead of fighting a pointless fight. If the First General and Ragna wanted them dead, then they would have been dead already.

They must want something else.

And so he waited, and it didn't take long.

Lyra came first. She smiled at Vacuse and her eyes showed her hatred for him. It turned her face into an ugly mask mixed with her raging bloodlust.

"It must have been hard keeping all of it in," Vacuse said.

She smiled like a cat and glared at him. "You can't imagine! You fucking animal, you think you can just throw your weight around because you have power?

"You have a lot to learn, but it seems it is going to be over your dead body!"

Vacuse didn't reply at first as he stared at her. "Did you send those assassins on the way out of the outpost for my Pathway ritual?"

She sneered. "I did. A shame that they weren't able to kill you though. Things would have progressed in a naturally occurring way after that."

"So you tried to kill me. How many times now?" Vacuse asked.

"How many times have the Black Accord tried to kill you? Honestly, you've clung to life longer than I expected. Even Duke Frexon didn't predict you would last this long. But you have now willingly walked into this trap."

Vacuse sighed. "So, you were working for the Duke. It seems Amon was nothing but a figurehead to be used by you. You were the mastermind behind everything. You even invited both the Duke and the Black Accord. And the Orcs.

"That's a big confusion. Who do you want to give Kragthar to? The Black Accord? The Duke? Or the Orcs?"

She smiled. "This is where you get it wrong, Dragon heir. They all wanted different things. The Orcs wanted the border rewritten, they want Standpoint fortress.

"The Duke wants to expand his territory to Standpoint. And the Black Accord... they are interested in you, Vacuse Vorrakyn."

"And what about you? What do you want?"

"Profits. The Vorrakyn is done for, their power long diminished. I am going to start over. The new Vorrakyn family is going to start from the Empire's capital and expand from there. We don't need strength, we need profits!

"I'm going to sell the Vorrakyn and use the money to build my own House!"

Vacuse stared at her. Blinked.

And then he began to laugh.

He clapped his hands and laughed!

His voice echoed in the dark prison. "Lyra! You are a true daughter of the Vorrakyn, extremely selfish and uncaring. A proper bastard."

Vacuse looked at her with something close to approval. "In a way, you are better than me. You want a clean slate, but I want to build on the existing Vorrakyn."

His voice became soft. "But... Lyra. I'm going to make your death very painful."
