The Smiling Death

Chapter 153: Is this Reward for Amon?

Amon was enjoying his victory, talking loudly in the tent. Others were trying to stop him, while some other students murmured to each other.

Just then someone entered the tent.

"Why is there so much noise here?" The voice came from the entrance of the tent.

Everyone went silent as their gazes moved to the person who just entered.

There, standing with a warm smile, was none other than Adelia Evangeline—Amon's favorite teacher.

Her long bright green hair was loose on her back. Yellow eyes kind. Her figure looked like it was sculpted by the goddess herself.

The one who broke the silence was Amon himself.

"Hello Professor Adelia! Good to see you!" His voice was excited, the smile never leaving his face.

"Good evening, Professor Adelia," Seraphina greeted her politely.

Others as well greeted her. Some bowed to her from their seats.

'Wait! Was I being rude to her?'

It didn't matter anyway. He was close to her compared to others.

"Good to see you all doing well. Also, all of you gave great performance in the exam. And don't become sad. Even if you were not able to do well in this exam, you just need to work harder. There will be a lot of opportunities for you guys to prove yourselves." Her voice was comforting and encouraging. There was a gentle smile on her face, yellow eyes observing everyone.

"Thank you for your kind words, Professor," one of the students who was close to her expressed.

Amon was going to thank her as well. Just then Adelia looked at Seraphina. "Congratulations, Seraphina Luminous. You were first. You got first rank with so many points."

Seraphina nodded. "Thanks, that means a lot. I just did my best."

Amon got up and strode toward Adelia.

A mischievous smirk was already on his face.

Adelia raised her eyebrow in amusement. Then a chuckle left her mouth. "You did amazing as well, Amon. Congratulations for being second."

"Hehehe~ I appreciate it, Professor. You can praise me more, you know."

He moved closer and showed his head to her. His neck bowed a little, his messy hair presented to her.

Adelia remained standing there. Confusion was on her face. She observed as Amon stood close to her, waiting for something, like he was expecting something.

Marcus narrowed his eyes. For some reason he didn't like where this was going. He clearly knew that this boy was asking for something absurd.

Seraphina tilted her head, curiosity in her golden eyes.

Aisha's fluffy black-red ears twitched. She was already aware that Amon would do something weird again. That's what he was good at.

Eliana's clear blue eyes sparkled in excitement. She was giggling. She was the most eager one here to see what happened next.

Arnold, as usual, tried not to focus on them. Laying on his bed, he tried to close his eyes. But anyone could tell his one eye was slightly open, focused on the scene.

Adelia thought about Amon's weird antics. Then realization came to her. She smiled playfully.

Her hand extended toward Amon's head. Her fair, smooth hand patted his head. His messy hair.

"You did amazing, Amon. I am really proud of you~"

"Hehehe."

'Her touch is so warm and smooth.'

Amon practically melted under Adelia's gentle pats, his eyes half-closed as if he was about to purr. The tips of his ears reddened, but he kept the same smug grin plastered on his face.

Other students were shocked. How could Amon have this much guts to ask for something like this from Professor Adelia? And she actually accepted his request.

Despite that, no person here had the courage to ask something like that from her. Since she was from the respected and feared family of Marquis Evangeline. She is sister of a person known for being a madman.

For some reason, they felt respect toward Amon.

Amon actually didn't know much about nobles and families, so he was unaware of Adelia's family. Poor him.

"Fufu~ You really enjoy this, don't you?" Adelia teased softly, her fingers brushing through his messy black hair.

Amon didn't even try to deny it. "Hehehe~ I earned it, Professor. Hard work deserves proper rewards."

Marcus clicked his tongue. "Tch. Shameless."

But the twitch in his brow showed he was more annoyed at how natural Amon made it look.

Seraphina stared at the scene, her expression unreadable. Her golden eyes flicked from Adelia's hand to Amon's relaxed face.

"…You're too comfortable," she muttered under her breath.

Aisha crossed her arms, her tail flicking behind her. "I knew it… He always becomes like this around pretty women."

Still, her ears were tilted forward. Watching closely.

Eliana had both hands on her cheeks, eyes sparkling. "Kyaaa~ Amon, you are too shameless."

'Damn, does Eliana like watching romance between teacher and student?' Amon thought after hearing Eliana's excited voice.

Amon opened one eye and gave her a thumbs up. "Well, I am trying my best to enjoy life."

"Yeah, yeah. I bet you are the most happy soul in our whole academy," Eliana shot back, giggling.

Even Arnold couldn't help himself. "…Hmph."

He shifted on the bed, but one eye remained half-open, clearly paying full attention.

Adelia let out a small laugh, brushing a lock of Amon's hair aside. "That's enough for now. If I keep going, you'll fall asleep standing."

Amon straightened up instantly, almost disappointed. "You are not wrong… hah… but thank you again, Professor Adelia."

His expression was a sad one.

Adelia raised a brow. "You want more pats?"

Amon's eyes lit up. "Of course."

Adelia smiled widely. "I can't do that. I have some work. I just came to check on you guys. Well… if you rank in the top ten in overall ranking, including both Theory and Practical exams, I might do it again."

Now the confidence and happiness on Amon's face slowly subsided.

Because he didn't have any hope of getting good marks in the theory exam. Passing in all subjects would already be a big achievement for him.

'Man! For some reason the theory exam felt harder than this survival exam.'

Adelia giggled at Amon's expression.

"We have distributed groups of students in different tents. Some students who were eliminated in the first days are getting bored here. This tent is for healing. But since we are going tomorrow, you all can just stay here tonight. Also you all will get a little surprise tomorrow. Look forward to it."

Everyone nodded at her words.

"Okay then, bye. Take care."

Saying that, Adelia left the tent.
