Chapter 104: Slaying Five

"Hey, what should we do now..." a fifteen or sixteen-year-old boy said, looking at the unconscious jounin on the ground, his words trailing off.

His three companions shot him a disdainful look, silencing him.

Hmph, just because I'm young, you all act so high and mighty, the boy grumbled to himself. He then walked over to a large tree, leaned against it, and closed his eyes to rest. After the chaos of the previous night, he desperately needed a break.

The other three exchanged a look, then also found places to rest. After all, their leader hadn't ordered them to return, so they could only wait. They had full confidence in their leader's strength; a few rats who had caused some trouble wouldn't escape his grasp.

Unfortunately, what they didn't notice was a small, inconspicuous snake hiding in a patch of grass, quietly observing them.

Soon, aside from one chunin who remained on guard, the other three had fallen asleep.

"...Sigh," the chunin on guard sighed, thinking back to the events of the previous night. He knew that after such a major incident, those responsible for security would definitely be punished when they returned to the village. Although they might not be punished immediately due to the war, once the war was over...

Thinking of this, he couldn't help but sigh again.

At the same time, perhaps because he was now relaxed, he felt a sudden urge to relieve himself.

He glanced at his sleeping comrades. After a moment's thought, he decided not to wake them.

Just a quick trip to the toilet, it'll only take a few minutes, he told himself, then walked into the nearby woods.

"Whew," he let out a long sigh, then shook himself off and prepared to head back.

Just then, he felt a pleasant breeze on his face.

Before he could turn to look, a sharp pain shot through his neck.

"Ugh..." The chunin subconsciously clutched his neck, then, with the last of his strength, he turned to look.

What met his eyes was a pair of pupils that glowed with an eerie red light, even in the darkness.

Within those pupils, a faint but heavy killing intent was brewing.

"Sha...rin..." Forcing a few words out through his torn windpipe, the Sand ninja collapsed, dead.

Notification: Successfully killed an enemy (Level 34). Gained 40 experience points.

Perhaps because of the chunin's dying whisper, one of the Sand ninja suddenly awoke.

Before he could figure out what was happening, a massive fireball was already upon him.

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique."

Boom!

The second Sand ninja died without a fight, and Kyosuke gained another 34 experience points.

This time, however, the remaining two Sand ninja, who had just been jolted awake, had successfully spotted Kyosuke.

"Wind Release: Great... ugh..." Just as one of the Sand ninja was preparing to release his ninjutsu, a bright flash of a blade slashed across his throat.

Shadow Clone, Body Flicker, Uchiha Style Sword Technique—another one down.

Seeing his comrades die in an instant, the last Sand ninja, the young boy, was terrified.

After using a Water Release ninjutsu to obscure Kyosuke's vision, he turned and fled.

However, a sharp whistle soon sounded behind him.

Startled, the boy quickly looked back.

Several shuriken were flying toward him from a strange angle.

"Heh, you think you can kill me with a few shuriken?" Perhaps because he was about to escape, the boy couldn't help but taunt Kyosuke.

Just then, the shuriken, which should have missed him, suddenly collided in mid-air with a series of crisp clangs.

Then, the lead shuriken abruptly changed direction and shot toward his vital points.

"What?!" the Sand ninja boy muttered in disbelief, looking down at the shuriken in his chest.

Then, he followed in the footsteps of his comrades.

Four chunin had died at Kyosuke's hands without putting up a fight.

Looking at the 152 experience points in his system panel, Kyosuke smiled to himself.

He then turned his gaze to the sensory ninja lying on the ground.

"Now for the main course," Kyosuke said with a slight smile, then slowly walked toward him.

Suddenly, he stopped a few meters away.

"Stop pretending. I know you're awake," Kyosuke said coldly to the jounin.

However, the jounin remained motionless, as if he were dead.

"Still unconscious?" Kyosuke felt a bit more at ease, but he didn't approach him rashly. He had just been testing him, hoping to trick him into getting up. Although the jounin seemed unconscious, he could be faking it, waiting for Kyosuke to get close to launch a sneak attack.

The cautious Kyosuke had no intention of confirming whether he was really unconscious. He decided to just finish him off with a shuriken.

His caution proved to be the right choice.

Just as his kunai was about to pierce the Sand ninja's head, the man suddenly leaped up from the ground.

He then waved his hand and unleashed a Wind Release ninjutsu at Kyosuke.

"Wind Release: Wind Scythe."

An invisible blade of wind, with a piercing whistle, shot toward Kyosuke.

Unfortunately, while his attack seemed invisible, in Kyosuke's Sharingan, it was as clear as a torch in the night.

With a light leap, he dodged the wind blade. With a one-handed seal, he returned a ninjutsu of his own.

"Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique."

At the same time, his other hand was already preparing another ninjutsu.

"Shisui Style: Body Flicker Technique."

Drawing the Kusanagi sword from his waist, Kyosuke, surrounded by a dozen fireballs, charged straight at the Sand ninja.

A short while ago, this move might not have been enough to harm him. But with the Sand ninja's current injuries, it was impossible for him to dodge Kyosuke's attack unscathed.

Boom, boom, boom!

With a series of explosions, the two figures quickly passed each other in mid-air.

At the same time, two streams of blood splattered in the air.

Kyosuke looked at the inch-long wound on his abdomen, shook his head helplessly, and then sheathed his sword.

Behind him, the Sand ninja clutched his throat and collapsed in pain.

Kyosuke, another one down.
