Chapter 97: Weapon Of The Guild
"What are you talking about, Master? There are no attackers," Akira clarified quickly, raising her hands in a clarifying gesture. "I was simply training with our newest allies."
The words smashed Master Sung right in the face. His expression shifted instantly from fury to relief, then back to another wave of anger—though this time, it was directed at her rather than some imagined enemy.
"You are training with the students I appointed to you just yesterday, and you are going so hard on them!" he scolded, his voice rising to a shout that echoed across the empty grassland.
"Do you have any idea how worried I was? The energy readings I detected from miles away made it feel like a battle between multiple red-marked summoners!"
His usual calm demeanor had completely disappeared, replaced by the protective instincts of a leader who had just realized one of his most trusted subordinates had been reckless with his trump card.
"When I felt those gamma waves coming at me, when I sensed the sheer force of power being unleashed, I thought we were under attack by a force capable of destroying the entire Tian district!" he continued, his tone increasing in volume.
"I had to make my way here as fast as I could, summoning out my familiar to get to a battlefield I had expected to see some serious action, not knowing you were toying with the allies I put under you! I thought you were in trouble."
"I'm sorry, Master, I... I just wanted to duel with them to—" she stuttered, genuinely sorry as she began to understand the impact of her duel she thought was playful.
"How much could they possibly learn in just one day that made you attempt a duel this early? Is this how you show responsibility?" His voice carried clear disappointment that somehow stung worse than his anger.
"I trusted you with their training, Akira. I trusted you to guide them carefully, to build their skills gradually."
"How much can they learn in just a day..." Akira repeated slowly, her voice trailing off as a smile began to spread across her face.
The smile grew wider as she remembered their progress rate within the past few hours, the incredible rate at which the newest allies had mastered techniques that should have taken months or even years to learn.
"They are capable of performing all seventy-seven techniques of the Luo," she announced, her voice carrying pride and amazement that made Master Sung's angry expression falter. "Every single one of them."
Yet again, another bombshell had hit Master Sung. His angry, contorted face dropped into complete disbelief, his mouth opening slightly as he struggled to process what he had just heard.
"They can already perform the seventy-seven techniques of the Luo?" His voice was barely above a whisper, the anger completely drained from his tone and replaced by surprise. "How can I believe that? It's impossible. Even you were able to learn it only after several years of dedicated training."
"Well, you have to believe it," Akira explained, finally feeling relaxed enough to dust the dirt off her clothes. Her movements were casual, but Master Sung could see the genuine excitement in her eyes as she spoke.
"If not, then how will you explain the supreme leader of the Tian district—me, Akira—suddenly flying through the air and crashing into the leader of the entire guild, Master Sung?" She gestured broadly, indicating the distance she had traveled through the air before he had caught her.
The fact was undeniable. Akira was a red-marked summoner, one of the most powerful fighters in the guild who was just a rank below the Sen. For her to be sent flying with such force that she had traveled several hundred meters from the midst of the newly recruited allies through the air to reach Master Sung made it clear.
Master Sung turned his gaze downward, reasoning. There was no way Akira would be joking around or telling a lie to him, but still... How could they evolve so much in just several hours? It hadn't even been twenty-four hours, and they had mastered feats that would take even the most dedicated students at least two whole years.
Master Sung turned his gaze downward, lost in thoughts on how such learning speed could be possible, but he just couldn't understand how their feat was achievable. However, there was no way Akira would joke about something like this, nor would she lie to him about such an important matter.
"How... how could they evolve so much in just several hours? It hadn't even been twenty-four hours since I assigned them to her care," he muttered. "And they had supposedly mastered feats that would take even the most dedicated students at least two whole years of intensive training!"
"Surprised, eh?" Akira laughed heartily in amusement. "Wait until you see this Ryder in action. I was completely powerless against him, Master. Completely and utterly outmatched."
"Even before he could perform his first techniques, he could already stand his ground against me," she continued. "His natural abilities, his raw speed and strength—they're beyond anything I've ever encountered. The moment he started using the techniques correctly, you should have seen how he played with me like a ragdoll."
"If I ever want to match him in terms of strength—his current capabilities now that I've taught him the Luo techniques—I might need to combine my raw strength with the Luo techniques, the Tian techniques, and summon out my familiar all at once," she admitted, her voice dropping to a more serious tone.
"Master, I have to admit—you chose well," she said, her voice carrying admiration. "You just got us a powerful weapon for the Red Eastern Guild, and he's still an inexperienced young man at that!"
A maniac gleam entered her eyes as she continued, "We can easily make him our puppet with minimal struggle and proper manipulation! His power is extraordinary, but his awareness and experience are still that of a naive youth. With the right approach, we could have him completely under our control within weeks."
Master Sung remained silent, his gaze turning toward the distance from which Akira had come flying.
"I didn't get us just a powerful weapon," he said slowly, his voice carrying a weight of realization. "I got us weapons."
