Chapter 79: Best Way To Display A Technique
"Take your stance."
Mara's face drained of color in a flash, her brown eyes widening to the size of dinner plates as she took a step backward subconsciously.
"No way! That's really necessary!" she protested, her voice carrying unhidden panic.
Her hands flew up defensively, palms facing outward as if she could physically push away the very suggestion. "You should just show us how it's done—no need for us to interfere!"
She gestured wildly at Hinata, who stood before them calmly. "I mean, look at you! You know we don't stand a chance against you in a battle. We'll wind up hurt—no, scratch that—we'll wind up as destroyed if we have a duel!"
Isn't that right Brok! She turned to Brok who suddenly shot upward like he was being hit by a lightning strike at the mention of his name.
Brok nodded so like a bobblehead dolls in speed that should have defy his capability.
"Uhh..Exactly! I've seen enough action movies to know how this ends. The rookie gets in the ring with the master, and the next scene is them scraping the rookie off the walls with a spade!"
Hinata Luo took a stance of his own, a refine and proper stance unlike the self-invented stance rider and the others mostly assume before battle.
Leo couldn't help but blurted out in disappointment. "Spade? Really?"
"How would you know what I mean when you are so damn strong!" Brok shot back. "The point is, we're not ready for this level of—"
"Gentleman's agreement," Brok concluded with his voice finally calmer, "states that when someone is about to demonstrate techniques that could possibly rearrange our internal and external organs, we should observe from a safe distance.
Hinata Luo listened to their protests with the patience and his head staring to the ground, a small smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
When they finally ran out of objections, he stepped forward and assumed his stance—a refined, textbook-perfect position that looked what monks would take in movies.
All the words the had utter felt like a utterly waste of time upon hearing the next statement from Hinata.
"I am sorry," Hinata said, "but the best way to display the technique is by showcasing it on an opponent."
Everyone remained quiet for what felt like an eternity, all hesitating as they stared at Hinata Luo. The previous supreme leader from the Fan district had already fascinated them during the short while they were around him, displaying speed that belonged in cartoon books rather than reality.
If the lowest and supposedly weakest supreme leader could be so outstanding with nothing other than pure ability and what Master Song had regarded as basic techniques, just how much devastation could this Luo leader unleash?
You can use me to show them how a technique is been practiced. Ryder volunteered himself, allowing all the others to sigh in relief.
You can visualize the techniques on me, all the technique you wish to show us. Ryder continued. Doing that you won't need to get the others involved right?
Hinata Luo hesitated for a brief moments before eventually nodding his head in approval.
Okay then, let's Begin.
Brok and Mara both made their way to the edge of the platform, leaving Hinata and rider at the middle.
Meanwhile, at the center of the platform, Ryder and Hinata faced each other like with unwavering gaze. The duo kept staring into each other's eyes, neither making a move for several fleeting seconds that stretched like hours.
Finally, Hinata broke the silence, his booming voice begining the briefing.
"The first technique I will be showing you is the Explosive Rush," he began. "This technique is one that focuses on the feet. In performing the Explosive Rush, you need to channel as much energy as you can into your legs and feet."
Leo's eyes shot wide open in surprise, his anticipation replaced by genuine shock. It wasn't just Leo—Ryder and Brok were equally stunned, their faces mirroring their disbelief.
The reason for their reaction was simple: what Hinata had just described was remarkably similar to something he was already capable of doing, something he thought only he could do.
Leo had never explained his technique to them in detail, but listening to Hinata speak, they found a huge similarity between what he was describing and Leo's superhuman physical capabilities.
"Wait a minute," Leo said, his voice cutting through the air. "Are you telling me that the way I—"
Ryder quickly chimed in to complete the statement, his mind racing. "The exact same way Leo gains his superhuman physical capability is the exact same way the Explosive Rush is performed,"
If this was how the Explosive Rush was performed, then quite a number of people must have figured out how to control their energy just like Leo did. The realization was terrifying for Leo— terrifying because it meant there were potentially many others out there with similar capabilities.
This technique is how he gain the upper hand in battle against summoners and a remarkable trump card he never told anyone about in his entire lifetime except Ryder and Brok.
Hinata continued his explanation, ignoring the shocked expressions on their face. "The process involves channeling energy into the muscles of the feet and legs. However, the energy you can channel varies because two different types of energy exist in the summoner's body."
He paused, allowing his words to sink in before continuing. "The first energy is the gamma energy, which you should already be aware of if you've been summoning for any length of time."
Ryder nodded, though his expression remained thoughtful. Gamma energy was the standard energy that all summoners automatically gains the moment they contract their beast.
"As for the second energy," Hinata continued, his voice taking on a more serious tone, "it is what we call pure life energy. In performing the Explosive Rush, one must choose between channeling the life energy to the feet or channeling the gamma energy."
He gestured with his hands as he spoke. "The life energy and the gamma energy are correlated and very similar. In fact, both of them are life energy, but of different kinds—the gamma energy is like an altered life energy consisting of various impurities, while the other life energy which exists in every human body is the purest form of life energy."
Ryder's brow furrowed as he processed this information. "So you're saying that gamma energy is essentially corrupted life energy?"
"Not corrupted," Hinata corrected, "but certainly altered. It is like a mixture of elements that both strengthen and weaken it simultaneously."
"Despite gamma energy and pure life energy being of similar origin," Hinata continued, "there has been no one who has managed to manipulate pure life energy so far. The energy we Red Eastern Luo members and beyond have been able to manipulate is exclusively gamma energy."
Ryder head slowly turned to stare at Leo without uttering any word, but his mind on the other hand...
Leo possessed no trace of gamma energy, given that he wasn't a summoner. This meant that the life energy which he manipulated had to be the pure life energy Hinata was talking about.
Hinata had just mentioned that there hadn't been anyone who was able to manipulate this pure life energy, but fortunately the "someone" who could was in their midst— that person was standing right there with them, staring in puzzlement.
"Hold on," Ryder chimed in. "If I may ask, what is the difference between gamma energy and pure life energy? I mean, besides the obvious purity factor."
Hinata's expression hardened, his demeanor replaced by something more serious. "The gamma energy is like a mixture of what I will call positive life energy and negative life energy. It contains the pure life energy, and an energy that seems like the complete opposite of it."
"Logic would clarified that it should be stronger, due to the fact that it contains two different kinds of energy. However, it isn't. Both of the energies are equally powerful, thereby opposing one another and creating a kind of... internal conflict."
"Think of it like this," he continued, clearly warming to his subject. "Imagine you have two equally strong people pushing against each other. Neither can overpower the other, so they remain locked in place. That's what happens inside gamma energy—the positive and negative aspects cancel each other out to some degree but somehow, it is still dangerous."
Ryder nodded slowly, though his mind was still taking in the information. "So gamma energy is essentially handicapped by its own nature?"
"Precisely," Hinata confirmed. "One of the best theories we have been able to come up with is that the familiars we possess contain this kind of energy because they are what we can call living dead—they are dead creatures that are still living."
"Remember," Hinata continued, "animals once roamed planet Terra but gradually went extinct. Many familiars we contract also look like these animals, so we came to the conclusion that those familiars that resemble animals are the incarnates of the dead animals brought back to life."
"When the animal was once a living creature, it possessed pure life energy. After it dies, it gains the opposite of pure life energy—what we call negative pure life energy. When we summon them back to planet Terra, these two energies combine to become gamma energy."
"And when we try to harness the gamma energy that originally belongs to them," he concluded, "it's weakened due to the multiple processes it has underwent, giving us the worst version of it."
Ryder slowing nodded. That was a lot of information but now his question was answered perfectly.
Back to the lecture. Hinata spoke. Giving the fact that gamma energy isn't so strong due to all the process it has underwent before it existed in our body, we do not just depend and use the gamma energy only but also our familiar physical capability and the lastly, martial arts.
Filling our leg with gamma energy, forcing our strength to is limit enough to add up our familiar beast physical strength to our own at lastly carefully implementing martial arts into our stace create the explosive Rush.
Lowering himself slightly, Hinata luo exhaled condensed air from his nose in a controlled manner.
"Now," he said, his voice taking on a different quality—deeper, more focused, "watch closely."
*Vroom*
