Chapter 671: Is chaos better than order? (part 26)
Still, the sister in the middle did manage to not overuse those new flames of hers, unlike Nina, so instead of tiredness she more accurately felt sleepy but it wasn't to the point where she couldn't remain conscious nor defend herself unlike her younger sister.
"Are you going to stay to see the end of your sister's fight, or do you want me to sent you out of the battlefield?", asked Aster to which Lina coughed a couple of times in response.
"Ahem, I'm not a child… I'll leave on my own", she mumbled making Aster chuckle.
"So, you are not tired but you are still going to leave the battlefield?", he jokingly said, making Lina act like a cat who had its tail stepped on.
"I-It's not because of that, I have to take that piece of trash to sister Layla!", she exclaimed as she pointed at the girl from the Fireheart family.
That's right, the fan user girl from the Fireheart didn't die, though she fainted and fell from the sky, which made her end looking quite miserable since her clothes were covered with dirt, she was still alive.
"Oh, I thought you were going to finish her after dealing with the ones that could still pose a threat, but you are going to save her life instead, is she perhaps a part of Iris's family branch?", asked Aster.
"Mmm, probably from a distant one since she knew how to use that fire heart thingy, but didn't have the badge of a direct descendant, but it's not like I spared her because of that, after what happened to Nina, sister Iris told us to not hesitate when cutting down the people regardless of the family to which they belonged, the Bladeheart included".
"I didn't kill her because we are going to exchange her life for contribution points with the Fireheart family… unlike the Blazeheart bastards who directly ignored what they owed us due to our contributions when we wanted to exchange them, the Fireheart had no option but to acknowledge them", she said.
Unlike the Blazehearts who are openly in bad terms with the Bladehearts, which led to Layla's influence not being enough to help the sisters and Iris exchange the contribution points she had accumulated through the years, for the medicines and attention needed to let alone cure Nina but even evaluate her condition and give her something to ease her pain in the meantime.
To be exact, they didn't directly negate them, but used all kinds of excuses to delay the exchange, so that the fastest time in which they could obtain what they legitimately deserved, would be around two weeks later, of course Iris and the sisters stopped trying after that, Nina needed attention with urgency.
So, they instead went with the Firehearts, who couldn't play such tricks, because they make business with the Bladehearts and the one in charge of supervising the economic aspects within the Bladeheart family is Layla's mother.
And so, with a nice threatening letter from her, the supervisor of the contribution hall in person, helped Iris redeem what she needed, unfortunately while they could get them to evaluate the sister's state, the medicine they supposedly needed was way too pricey.
If they could have used the points they had for the Blazeheart, in proper time, then they should have been able to obtain at least a temporal method to suppress Nina's problem, but the same medicine had a higher price in the Fireheart, since they used soft natured fire resources way for their cultivation, way more than the Blazeheart, also it "suddenly" had its price increased since the stock was cut in half by those resources being bought overnight.
As for the Bladeheart, they didn't have it in stock, since they focus in the sword instead, so at the end of the day, Iris went to try and find something by herself which led to them meeting Aster and the resto is history.
Anyway, the point is that saving the life of a Fireheart who could use the technique with the same name, would fetch quite a big number of contribution points for them, not to mention that it would be huge slap in the face if Iris who was shunned by them, returned with a Fireheart as a prisoner to "sell her back" to them.
Getting the idea behind Lina's decision, Aster nodded to then grin as he said.
"In that case, take the "prisoner" to miss Lyla, I'll help you settle that debt with both the Firehearts and the Bladehearts".
Lina couldn't help but remember how Aster made the Fey bleed out half of their possessions earlier, she couldn't help but feel excited to see those guys who treated them like trash, be in despair over Aster's cunning methods to rip them off.
"You know, I used to believe that I was a vengeful person, until I met the great "Lord of the Twin Sword Valley"~", jokingly said the sister in the middle as she laughed a couple of times to then go and grab that the fainted woman from the Fireheart family by her right ankle and drag her along the way to where Layla and the others were.
'So, the youngest is the cute type while the one in the middle is more on the playful side, I guess I should go see what the eldest one is like', thought Aster amused by Lina's words and actions.
…
Despite the previous being a genuine reason as to why Aster rushed to Mina's battlefield, the other reason was the glimpse of something "interesting" going on, he caught with his dragon eyes enhanced spirit sense.
To begin with it was already interesting enough that while those four were fighting Lina, quite fiercely though it only lasted for a short while until they realized that Lina was way stronger than them, the team in charge of facing Mina hadn't make a move until the very second in which Lina's fight ended.
It was as if they really didn't want to fight her, despite how much they clearly hated the oldest of the three sisters, in fact, Aster could tell that the captain of the enemy's team seemed to be actually afraid of her.
And he couldn't understand why, don't get it wrong, he knows that Mina is quite strong, though she is a couple of years older than Iris and is relatively at the same realm as her, with the difference that Iris is one minor realm above the three sisters in her secondary path.
But in exchange, Mina has been at the peak of the Star Tribulation realm for more time than Iris and is closer to enter the Transcending realms than Iris who reached the peak of the Star Tribulation not too long ago.
In other words, their strength is more or less around the same threshold, however Iris has a higher output for a variety of reasons, the point is that those guys didn't know about Iris's real strength and talent, otherwise they wouldn't have dared to call her names like "outcast" while being in the same battlefield as her, so that couldn't be the origin of the wariness they showed when in presence of the oldest of the three sisters.
What made it even weirder is that Mina has a kind and responsible older sister vibe, her expression is usually calm and she has a subtle smile on her pretty face almost all the time, if anything she has the habit of keep her eyes closed, but that's not uncommon since cultivators use their spirit sense more than their eyes to "see", so one would think that's just Mina training her senses, she didn't seem nor had anything scary at all.
In fact, the sister in the middle, Lina looked way more imposing than Mina, she was tallest and had a wild vibe around her, but then the answer to the previous mystery was given through the interaction between Mina and the captain of the enemy team.
"Well, looks like your plan to use Lina as a hostage instead of Nina, has also failed, now will you obediently hand your heads over, or do I have to take them myself?", asked Mina to those four the very second Lina killed the captain from her enemy's team.
"Blaze Commandment!", in response, the three guys from the Blazeheart directly used Blaze Commandment, as they took out their spirit weapons at the same time.
The three of them were attack type cultivators, two were sword users and used a rapier and a heavy sword respectively, the flames that were covering them were actually blue dark blue toned, meaning that they were both stronger than the captain that faced Lina, at least before he was reinforced by the girl from the Fireheart, allowing him to enter the second level of Blaze Commandment.
The captain from this team on the other hand, was a spear user not to mention that his flames were… purple colored.
It was unexpected because these guys weren't part of the main branches of the Blazeheart, unlike the guys that went after Nerissa, so there shouldn't have been a natural purple level flame user between themselves.
"You have achieved the second level of Blaze Commandment, so why the hell were you cowering and waiting for those guys to finish their fight against the other exiled scum, because of you, Rin was captured by those crazy bastards!", exclaimed the girl from the Fireheart.
She looked a bit older and much stronger than the one that was helping the team in charge of facing Lina.
"Shut up, you say that because you don't know her… not only I was there back when they were exiled, but I saw how she killed my brother!", shouted the captain at her, a light of fear of glowed in the eyes of the other two, which made Mina raise an eyebrow.
"I saw you trembling when I took out my sword whip, so I expected that, but I didn't think you were that guy's brother, however your memory seems to be failing you since I haven't had the pleasure of killing a member of the Blazeheart family with my own hand, until now that is", she said which caused the captain to lash out at her.
"How dare you speak of it so lightly, you sadistic crazy bitch!", she barked to then yell at the girl from the Fireheart family.
"And you, use that damn technique or we won't even bother blocking her for you, just so you know, back when she wasn't even ten years old, she made my brother be executed by a thousand lashes, so imagine what she'll do to you now", he said, making Mina add.
"But that wasn't all, I personally destroyed the dantian of a fellow older member of my own clan and also turned him into a eunuch, in some of the newer versions of the tale they say that I even peeled his skin, not like he didn't deserve it".
The two sword users felt their legs shake a bit when they saw Mina's calm and smiling expression, when combined with such dreary words, it did create an eerie feeling, especially because the tale she is talking about is known by basically every male from the youngest generation of the Blazeheart families.
This was the scene that welcomed Aster as he arrived at Mina's battlefield and now, he understood why those guys were so afraid of her, when she was younger than Kana, she half killed someone that was older and stronger than her, not to mention the castrating part.
The captain saw Aster arriving and a cunning smirk appeared on his face as he exaggeratively said.
"The esteemed young miss from the Fireheart didn't know about you and it seems like the Lord of the Twin Sword Valley is the same, I guess it's understandable since no one in their sane mind will spread such a horrible story just for fun, right?".
Unfortunately for his surprise, Mina who had not even a speck of remorse in her voice casually said.
"There is nothing much to speak about, a lustful piece of trash dared to say he was going to earn enough merits to make us three sisters become his "servants", so I went and stabbed him on the stomach with a sword so that he would never be able to be earn said merits and then made all the women in the world a favor and prevented him from leaving offspring, unless he received treatment that even a heir candidate to the patriarch position of a first tier force will have to put a lot of effort to obtain".
"I was even merciful enough to not outright slit his throat on the spot, when it would have been really easy to do so, and then he went and invented a sob story to his family who brought members of the punishment hall to capture three little girls that were going to be exiled that day, what he ignored is that… his audacious declaration was recorded by the one who "attacked him without provocation", which destroyed his innocent pretension".
"And so, I simply demanded the law of the family to be upheld, since he wanted to revolt against his superiors and proper evidence of it was provided, he was executed, that was it, well I indeed personally chose the method to be a thousand lashes and to make sure no one forgot about it, I took the sword whip as my weapon", said the oldest of the three sisters.
At this point the eyes of the captain were bloodshot, he could still remember the screams of his older brother as he was whipped to death in public, his family which had come to accuse the one that caused his death, asked his body to be given a proper burial and the answer they got was… "a traitor doesn't deserve it".
And thus, due to the words of a ten years old girl, his brother's corpse was hanged for a whole day so that everyone could see it, before it was taken down and burned and his ashes were buried who knows were, to this day the coffin at his family's graveyard that was built for his older brother, is empty and his tombstone doesn't have his name engrave don it, because he died a traitor of the family, so there can't be any records from him left in the territory of the Redheart family, everything because of that little girl, which had now turned into a beautiful young lady.
"You guys surely seem to hold a grudge with me, but I seem to remember that it was that bastard whom you now call "Lord" the one that quickly accepted the death sentence, because he knew that if there was a case that involved us ongoing, he would not be able to exile us according to the law of the family, unless someone with a really "high" position were to step in personally", mockingly said Mina.
And that was the origin of the creepy stories about the oldest of three sisters, which had been contained within the Blazeheart family as it was a humiliating moment for one of their high ranked members, who was bested by a ten year old girl, who this time had evidence to back up her claims, unlike when she went to report having seen a certain woman give her mother had just been declared death, a "suspicious" glare a few months ago, only for her claims to be dismissed as a "the rambles of a child" by the one in charge of the Punishment Hall, the one whom she once called father.
"So, have you gained enough time, or do you want to hear another history from the past, perhaps about that time when you and those two lackeys of yours, nearly peed their pants when they saw me sneaking into the Blazeheart's territory, or maybe about the times you didn't notice it but I was there, listening and recording some really interesting things", added the oldest of the three sisters, making those three pale.
"Enough, hurry up and use that damn thing already!", yelled the captain, even if he didn't want to, when that pretty smiling girl with closed eyes, looked in his direction he felt afraid, even if he didn't want to, even if he swore to rip her flesh and scatter her bones for what she did to his brother, but that's normal, that's how a trauma works and Mina made sure to engrave the result of what anyone who tried to touch a single hair on her little sister's heads, will be like, which is why they had an "easy" time until recently.
Easy as in they weren't targeted in the open, they stopped at verbal insults and petty tricks in the dark and never ever had the balls to try or even speak about doing anything to them.
Unfortunately, it seems like some of the reasons as to why they weren't actively bothered for the past around ten years or so, had started to disappear and now they will be pursued again, just like how an anonymous message about "lending" a hand to cure her youngest sister, as long as she accepted a few conditions, reached her after their request to exchange their contribution points was delayed a couple of weeks at the Blazeheart.
So, she needed to give those guys a little reminder and that's why she remained still and gave a chance to that woman from the Fireheart to finish the really long process she had to complete in order to use her ultimate technique.
"Fire Blazing Heart!", the woman's body exploded in orange-red flames, similar to what happened to the other girl from the Fireheart family, with the difference that this spirit technique wasn't solely directed to the captain but for the three in front of her.
Also, and as the different name suggested, the effect of this technique was not the same as the one of "Fire Heart", it was easy to notice too, since the result was completely different, the purple and blue flames that were enveloping those three didn't improve to the next level.
Instead of that, a border of orange-colored flames appeared around their blue and purple flames respectively, it looked strangely similar to the states which Nina and Lina manifested during their fights.
However, Aster knew to not judge a book by its cover and for his dragon eyes, they had a different appearance, to begin with those orange flame borders weren't fire created with spirit energy, but it was those guy's attributes, which like all the members of the Blazeheart family, was fire that had no other property besides being able to be refined through the manual with which they cultivated.
"Oh, that is new, so now you cowards can start using your attributes before reaching either the third level of Blaze Commandment or having entered the Transcending realms, so long as you receive help from the Fireheart guys, I wasn't going to waste time with you, but it looks like the Fireheart need to know what happens… when they target my sisters", with those words, Mina vanished into thin air.
"Raise your guard, according to my father, she must have ambushed my brother back then, so she should be a fast slippery bitch, just like that younger sister of hers", said the captain as he spread his soul enhanced spirit sense in the vicinity.
'Come one, just make a move so that I can pierce that cynical smug face of yours with my spear!', he inwardly swore.
"Aghhh!", as the captain expected she went for one of his two subordinates since they were a threat but were easier to take out, he turned around and without a second of hesitation thrusted his spear at the empty space near the heavy sword user who was screaming due to pain as blood was seeping out of his right arm.
"I got you, you sadistic b…", the excitement on the captain's face died down the moment he felt no resistance on the tip of his spear, followed by a scream coming from the rapier user.
"Aghhh!", this time the blood that splashed the area came from the thigh of the rapier user, the captain directly pointed his hand in that direction and shot a stream of purple flames with an orange border at it.
But like before, his attack passed through where the target should have been and didn't hit anything.
"Where are you, show yourself!", roared the captain as he noticed that his companions still hadn't recovered from the pain of the slashes.
"Okay", as the old saying goes, one must be careful with one wishes for, since it might become true, Mina appeared in front of the captain, making his heart nearly jump out of his chest, but then he noticed that her whip sword wasn't being pointed at him, the thing actually made a turn around his subordinates which explained why his attacks hit nothing, she had attacked calmly from his vicinity using a flexible sword's advantages to attack two people that were far from the other at the same time.
It was basically an illusion… one used by an energy/body cultivator, which was good enough to trick a secondary soul path one's senses, and now another surprising thing happened.
"Gah!", before the captain could react, Mina punched him right on the face.
"Crack!", her little pretty first was incredibly heavy, which resulted in a broken nose and blood coming out of his nostrils.
All this under the terrified eyes of the woman from the Fireheart family who saw the three that should be protecting her, be outright suppressed in a few seconds, what was the most horrifying is that a few seconds had passed since she did so and they weren't recovering.
"W-What the hell are you?", said the woman from the Fireheart, her expression made it seem as if she had seen a ghost, or an evil spirit would be more accurate since ghosts are a race that has been described in the records of the four Heavenly Quadrants from the ancient times.
Only to hear a voice coming from behind of her.
"A really angered older sister", said Mina as she poked the shoulder of the woman from the Fireheart family with her index finger which was burning with orange-red flames.
"Aghhhh!", the result was as expected a lung-tearing scream being forced out of the woman from the Fireheart, one that finally made those three be able to move.
'She is freaking playing with us!', he yelled in a voice that only those three could hear.
