Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Her best friend
EUPHI POV
Since the day I was born, I knew I was different from the rest. Although people never told me anything, they always treated me well when I was young. But things began to change the moment my parents died from an incurable disease.
I was left alone at the age of ten because of that illness that took my parents away. From that moment on, people started to discriminate against me for being different and for knowing how to do things that no one else could. I felt devastated; I couldn't do anything without being criticized or discriminated against.
I came to believe that it was best to die, but one day I met a boy about my age who made it clear to me that I could be useful in other ways and that I shouldn't listen to those people because most likely, in the future, they would be the ones asking for my help.
At first, I didn't understand what he meant, but I became very close friends with that boy to the point where I fell in love with him. But I never told him, and I kept it to myself because I knew I wouldn't be reciprocated since there was already someone else in that boy's mind. So, I settled for being his best friend.
Although I always wondered what would have happened if I had told him how I felt, perhaps things would be different, but I didn't let that affect me so much, and I continued to move forward, helping him in any way I could.
My life was now perfect thanks to him, but everything changed again when a guy offered my best friend to create a group of spies to steal information from the most important countries in the world. What caught the most attention was that this guy knew about us and about our powers, something that nobody should have because it was impossible.
In the end, we both ended up accepting, and then two other guys joined us who were also like us. But I don't know why I distrusted one too much; I felt like his intentions were different during missions, but I never told anyone, not even my best friend who was the team captain.
The truth is, I liked what we were doing, but involvement from the military and the police only meant trouble, so the captain decided to threaten them that DEATH would come for them if they kept investigating us. Thanks to that, they left us alone.
Then comes the worst thing that could have happened in the world because of us, and that was the beginning of the Third World War. Although initially our country was not involved in the war, so everyone was calm, but on December twenty-second of the year two thousand twenty-two, our captain launched a direct attack on some German troops, causing Japan to be involved in the war.
But after the captain did that, we split up so that nobody would know about us. Perhaps things would have been different if we had never gotten involved in that.
Years passed, and I tried to lead a normal life given everything that had happened, and also because people started awakening powers. We decided to leave everything we were doing and disappear forever, but the captain made it clear to us that one day we would come back together for an important mission.
Although he entrusted me with a mission that seemed quite interesting since it was about taking care of a girl named Lena Striker. But in the end, I ended up becoming her best friend, getting to know that she is an incredible person. That's why it didn't bother me that she kissed my best friend because I knew that their feelings were mutual.
Besides, Lena made it very clear to me that she was in love with him when she slapped me during our first mission from the army general, where we also met everyone again, and it felt quite strange to look John in the eyes again after so long.
Anyway, I think from now on I'll go back to accompanying a certain person as I always did because, after all, I'm still his best friend, and he's my best friend, even though he's still just as much of an idiot. But that doesn't change the fact that he's the most powerful person in the world, that person called Raizor, the Reaper.
3RD PERSON
The fight between the two girls had begun, with the girl attacking Euphi relentlessly, who dodges and blocks the attacks effortlessly, besides doing so at great speed, causing the other girl to lose sight of Euphi a bit when she attacks.
On the other hand, Raizor simply watches the fight since he knows perfectly well that someone is watching him intently, as he was the target of that girl who tried to kill him. But Raizor feels something familiar in the gaze of that person, as if he had felt it before.
"I think it's the same person who used that vision spell that I destroyed when I arrived at the academy, in that case, I already know who it is," said Raizor in his mind as he glanced in the direction of the intense stare coming from that person.
Euphi stopped about twenty consecutive attacks, leaving the assassin girl surprised and speechless because no one can block so many attacks while maintaining the same speed.
"How is it possible that you're not tired?" the girl asks, panting from exhaustion due to all the attacks she launched at Euphi, who doesn't have a single scratch.
"Because I didn't use magic to stop all those attacks you threw at me, I literally only used my default abilities," Euphi replies as she approaches the shocked girl.
"That's what people like you don't understand," said Raizor, catching the attention of both girls who turn to look at him intently.
"What do you mean by that?" the girl asks, standing up and staring at Raizor, who returns the same look, but a little more intense, making the girl nervous.
"I mean that people who rely on their magic or their affinity with an element will never be better than people who still trust in their physical abilities. That's what people in this current world don't understand," Raizor replies as he stares at the girl, who is surprised to hear him say that.
"So make a wise decision and leave before you stupidly die against Euphi, and by the way, tell your leader that instead of sending someone to kill me, they should come in person if they really want to fight," Raizor says as he turns around, giving his back to the girl who looks at Euphi, seeing how she sheathes her dagger before approaching the girl.
"The next time you come to try to kill him, I won't let you leave unscathed, brat," Euphi tells the girl as she grabs her shirt, leaving the girl in shock as she watches Euphi's eyes change from the brown color she had to a dark blue.
"Who the hell are you, Euphi?" the girl asks, scared by Euphi's fierce gaze, who smiles upon hearing the question.
"I am the grim reaper's best friend" Euphi replies before letting go of her and turning to go to Raizor, who smiles upon hearing his best friend's response.
The girl falls to her knees when she sees them walking away as if nothing had happened, but then a surge of anger and frustration arises within her, causing her to stand up angrily and prepare to attack them again. But this time, Euphi doesn't realize that it will happen, so the attack hits them, causing a large amount of dust
