Chapter 17 - Episode 17: Buying Up
Episode 17: Buying Up
~Zaus’ Perspective~
I decided to buy up the weapons in the Lontmelda Territory.
To do that, I need to negotiate with the weapon shops and convince them.
I disguised myself as a mysterious weapons merchant with a mustache.
My speech was broken.
“I. Weapons merchant. Chin Pin-in. You understand?”
I chose this name because it translates to “rare weapons” in Chinese.
Well, it doesn’t have much deeper meaning.
Wearing round-framed sunglasses should conceal my identity and age.
I’ll hide my horned head with a turban. The problem is my blue skin, but I’ll pass it off as a tan.
I chose Meel as my companion.
She wore a revealing Chinese dress. It’s hard to keep my eyes off her thighs visible through the slit. It suits her quite well and looks sexy.
So, I called the owner of the weapon shop to the border.
It’s located at the edge of the Lontmelda Territory, outside the magical barrier that prevents monster invasions.
If I enter the territory, the magical barrier will react.
So, being on the outside is natural.
The weapon shop owner was summoned because there was a good deal.
It was an improvised hut.
There were five Dragon Sand Iron Swords made by the weapon shop lined up on the table.
“Why is Mr. Chin negotiating weapons in a place like this?”
“Just a regular trader. It’s a hassle dealing with inspections and such in the royal capital. That’s why I came here.”
I picked up one of the swords on the table.
Hmm.
It’s a Dragon Sand Iron Sword.
No doubt about it.
“Shopkeeper, the quality of this sword is splendid. I’d like to buy them all.”
“Oh! That’s wonderful! How many do you need then?”
“All of them.”
“All of them?”
“All the swords in the store and any future ones that will be made.”
“What!? So, you’re asking for an exclusive contract!?”
“Well, something like that.”
“Wow! That’s great! Our sales will stabilize!”
“Then, let’s negotiate the purchase price.”
“Since it’s a bulk purchase, it’s natural to lower the price. The store price is 360 cozons… How about 350, for example?”
“I’d like to ask for 400 cozons.”
“Eh!? Th-that’s a high price! B-but, that’s appreciated… However, is it really profitable for you?”
“I want to monopolize these swords. So, I’ll buy them at a high price. But, in return, I want you not to sell to anyone else. I won’t sell to anyone else either. If you break the contract, I’ll cancel it immediately. Not only that, but I’ll never buy weapons from you again. I’ve decided not to do business with those who break promises. It’s a business principle.”
“I-I won’t break it! There’s no better deal than this. I won’t sell to anyone else, I promise!”
“Honesty is the best.”
“Then, let’s consider the contract established.”
The shopkeeper left with a spring in his step.
I could hear distant cheers, “With this, we can renovate the shop!”
Hehehe.
If the shop makes a profit, the buying spree will be a success.
With this momentum, I negotiated with other weapon shops.
I successfully negotiated with all five weapon shops within the territory.
Now, Dragon Sand Iron Swords won’t be available in the country anymore.
Meel furrowed her brows at this.
“Since it’s a purchase from five shops, we’ll get 100 Dragon Sand Iron Swords per month. Only goblins can equip them. It looks like our inventory will be huge by the end of the year.”
“Hehehe. I’ve actually thought about handling all the swords.”
It’s 400 cozons per sword, so 100 swords.
It’ll cost 40,000 cozons per month. If I do nothing, it’s just an expense.
There’s a way to turn this into income.
In Brave Quest, abbreviated as Breque, you can only have up to two of the same weapons. Since monsters in the early stages rarely drop gold coins, managing money is crucial.
The game is interesting because the prices vary depending on the country.
It’s probably also for the benefit of users, but most of them are set to sell at high prices.
Furthermore, there are countries where items sell for exceptionally high prices, and they can sell for more than double.
The Dragon Sand Iron Sword is no exception.
During gameplay, I truly wanted to possess multiple swords.
“Next, let’s negotiate with the Yamamitsu Kingdom.”
“It’s a kingdom beyond three borders. Are you going to buy swords from such a place?”
“No. This time, we’re selling.”
“Selling?”
This country pays the highest price for Dragon Sand Iron Swords.
The weapon shop in the Yamamitsu Kingdom was thrilled with the exclusive contract.
“It’s a valuable Dragon Sand Iron, isn’t it? How about 1,000 cozons per sword?”
“A-are you serious? 1,000 cozons!?”
Meel raised her voice.
Well, it’s not surprising. I bought the swords for 400 cozons.
“Then, let’s agree to an exclusive contract for 800 cozons.”
“Is 800 okay? Th-that’s so cheap of you!”
“A sense of profit is important for business.”
“Haha! As expected of Mr. Chin! Please continue to favor us in the future.”
And so, I decided to buy up the Dragon Sand Iron Swords and resell them to other countries.
Buying at 400 cozons and selling at 800 cozons.
That’s because it’s 100 swords every month. It’s a real profit of 40,000 cozons.
“Haha! Amazing!! It’ll be even more profitable!”
Meel clapped her hands softly.
Hehehe. Killing two birds with one stone, being able to buy up and earn income at the same time, is quite something to be happy about.
As I was enjoying this, Meel blushed.
“Lord Zaus… Do you like Chinese dresses?”
“Huh? W-Why are you asking me that?”
“…Because I saw you sneak glances.”
“Hahaha…”
She noticed, huh. The dress was quite revealing and, well, erotic.
“I wear them occasionally.”
“Ah, I see. Well, thanks, I guess.”
“N-no…”
She blushed as she said that.
Meel is so refined and cute.
Thinking such, the next day came.
Arjena was wearing a Chinese dress.
The neckline was wide open, and the slit on the thigh was crisp.
This is sexy.
I couldn’t help but stare at it.
“I-Is this… weird?”
“N-no… It’s not weird.”
“I see… Then, that’s good.”
But why is Arjena wearing a Chinese dress?
There wasn’t such an event in Breque…
Would she get angry if I asked for the reason?
“Ah…”
“What’s wrong? Is it still weird?”
Arjena was completely red.
Maybe I should refrain from asking for the reason.
Uh, let’s see, I remember that in the romance event of Breque, Arjena was pleased when complimented on wearing new clothes.
“That dress looks good on you.”
When I said that, she blushed even more.
“I-I-idiot!”
Saying so, she walked away.
I don’t know why, but this time’s buying spree might have been killing three birds with one stone.

~Cea’s Perspective~
I worked tirelessly.
I abandoned my pride as a hero and became a workaholic.
It was from morning till night. Delivering, cleaning, laundry, gathering herbs, and so on.
I did everything I could. I even got blisters on my hands.
And all of this was to buy that sword.
And so, about a year passed…
“I-I saved up. H-here, 360 cozons.”
I did it!! I, a 13-year-old, saved up 360 cozons!!
Now I can buy a Dragon Sand Iron Sword!!
I went to the royal capital with a rough breath.
On the way, when I saw my reflection in the river, my eyes were bloodshot, and I felt a little dangerous, but oh well.
This excitement can’t be stopped!
After all, it took a year!!
“Mwufuu!! Mwufuu!!”
Gufufu. I can’t stop my excitement.
I passed by the girls of the royal capital.
“Eek!”
“Scary!”
“His eyes are all weird.”
“He’s totally gone.”
“That person has steam coming out of his body.”
“Don’t point.”
Fools. Keep talking.
Just wait and see. You’ll all be captivated by me. By my dignified figure equipped with a splendid sword!!
Kukuku.
I’m being reborn.
I’ll equip the Dragon Sand Iron Sword and…
I’ll exterminate the small fry monsters.
I’ll slash them down!!
Recently, there have been rumors about the Archduke Zaus too.
Just a bunch of trash demons. They’re small fry monsters to me.
I’ll knock them down!! With the Dragon Sand Iron Sword I’m going to buy now!!
When I entered the weapon shop, the owner greeted me casually.
“Welcome.”
Kukukukuku.
“Welcomeeeeeeeee!!”
I energetically placed a small bag of coins on the counter where the owner was.
Boom!!
“360 cozons!!”
Take that!!
