Chapter 192: The Dragon Queen's Twisted Sense of Humor (Part 3)
When he "felt" that he was almost in position, the old devil Dalonas, who had transformed into a sinister arcane mage, took out the "script" he had received from the Evil Scale Fortress before setting off. He then had the still somewhat numb and dazed arcane guard ring the city bell of the Sky City.
After a while, he would stand on the balcony of the city hall and announce to all the citizens of "Ghost Soul City":
He, Dalonas, was the last Governor of Neisser—Karsus's direct disciple, and indeed, the very savior who had led them to escape from Ferren to a new life:
"The Lost Shado!"
With this, he encouraged the citizens to join him in returning to their homeland in Ferren and rebuilding the Second Neisser Empire.
Does it need to be this complicated? Sigh. Shouldn't this just be a matter of issuing an order? After all, the Inner Core of these citizens were just a bunch of devils, even if they had been "nested" back into humans, Dalonas subconsciously thought.
However, remembering that the Red Dragon David Uthos had promised to support his Hell Engine research series, he could only pinch his nose and accept it.
It was only when he dragged his ancient body, prolonged for over two thousand years by the "Ioleum Longevity Spell," to the balcony and saw the mass of Sky City 'citizens' filling the city square, that he felt, for a moment, a bewildering detachment, as if from another day.
Ah, damn it, the dead memories are attacking me again, he thought, rubbing his aching head.
Just as the old devil was doing so, Dragon Dad Attilicia, with daughter Tania and the Barbarian Rosinde, had already contacted the Red Dragon Lizrite and the White Dragon Mofei through Magic Messaging.
They were stunned the moment they met.
Dragon Dad Attilicia and Dragon Sister Tania, this Silver Dragon mother-daughter pair, were straightforward enough. The Dragon Queen had provided them with the bodies of a devout human father and his daughter. The Barbarian Rosinde was in the guise of a 'beastman slave.' The overall setup—an arcane tutor (Dragon Dad Attilicia's role), his daughter (Tania's role), plus a beastman war prisoner trained as a slave—was a classic and common configuration in Neisser.
But when a Frost Giant emerged, leading a White Dragon whelp on a chain, the assembled dragons looked at each other in speechless astonishment.
"Lizrite?" Tania asked uncertainly.
"Um... I am also your servant, and Mofei is a spoil of war I captured in battle—a servant's servant," replied the Red Dragon, looking rather uncomfortable.
"Oh," Dragon Dad Attilicia realized. Though their current roles do seem to match their intelligence levels quite well...
"Where is David Uthos the Dragon?" Attilicia inquired.
"I reckon he doesn't really want to meet us right now," Tania said, holding back her laughter.
"Why not?" Attilicia, who hadn't seen the Dragon Queen's 'script,' asked, puzzled.
ROAR!!!!
Accompanied by a burst of a Wrathful Dragon's Roar, the dragons all turned. They saw a young Red Dragon land on the Shado statue in the city square amidst the numb and astonished gazes of the citizens. The dragon stood with folded arms, looking as if it wished to have nothing to do with anyone.
"Isn't this the same as Mofei? Still a Red Dragon?" Attilicia asked.
"Not quite," Tania replied, shaking her head with a smile.
Then, to the shock of the onlookers, she waved at her brother David and called out softly, "David Uthos! Don't be scared, it's Mommy. Mommy is here, see?"
"..." David, enduring the strange stares from all the dragons, desperately wished he could just vanish.
Damn Tiamat!
Yes, the plan and the 'script' were proposed by David, but it was Tiamat herself who had personally reviewed them.
And in Tiamat's character setting revision:
The Red Dragon David had become an 'adult gift' given by Arcane Tutor Attilicia to his daughter Tania.
A Red Dragon that Tania had personally hatched and raised from a Dragon Egg.
Damn it!
Such a messed-up sense of humor.
