Chapter 189: Felling the Star_2
"In such unstable circumstances, would you dare to keep your favorite spouse, your most cherished child, by your side?"
The words of the Dragon Queen unfolded like a dusty scroll, laying bare the history of the dragons' rise to splendor, their fall into desolation, and their struggle to resist.
Especially upon hearing the last sentence, David couldn't help but be reminded of a particular scene. It was when the crimson 'Slaying King Star' appeared in the sky, leading to violent conflicts between himself, his dragon father Attilicia, his sister Tania, and those in his territory like Nifadora.
His breathing became rapid, his pupils turned blood red, and he covered his head, growling in anger, "No, no, no! I still have the Power of Jealousy, I can be unaffected by it, I can protect them..." But what about Father and Tania?
And the Dragon Queen mercilessly pointed out this very fact.
The Red Dragon head, with pride mingled with a hint of pity, said, "But how many dragons can your abilities actually protect?"
David thought to himself that at least he could protect Tania and his dragon father, and that was enough.
The Green Dragon head, lazily infused with a hint of temptation, said, "Although you're still young, haven't you ever longed for the opposite sex?"
David wanted to say he could just lie flat and accept his fate, but he knew he might not resist such temptations. Lying flat might have been an option in his previous life, but in this one, where he wasn't even human anymore, doing so would be worse than finding a good burial spot for himself.
The White Dragon head, with an icy tone laced with a tinge of pain, said, "Would you really have the heart to cast out your children from the nest to fend for themselves as soon as they're just past their juvenile stage?"
David knew the answer clearly; he couldn't do it.
The Blue Dragon head, brutal mixed with a hint of sorrow, said, "Can you forever shelter them under your dragon wings?"
A self-mocking smile appeared on David's lips.
The Black Dragon head, cruel with a hint of taunt, said, "Or will you, to avoid future troubles, 'kill' them in advance and let them reside under the protection of my Divine Realm?"
David finally succumbed to Wrath, thinking, Tiamat, your mental manipulation is endless, isn't it!
In the end, the five dragon heads converged into one voice, one will:
"Have you ever thought about it? Maybe, as dragon gods, we are not immortal and indestructible either. Who knows, one day we may fall due to the conspiracy of some deity, just like those gods who have perished in the dust of history.
"Especially when I personally have initiated the dawn of a divine war?"
David, who had been in a state of Wrath, suddenly fell silent.
Although, based on his 'superficial understanding' of Tiamat, Her Majesty wasn't easy to kill. Even if he died of old age, she might still be thriving, just like Bahamut. But since the head of the family had already spoken to this extent, and for the sake of his loved ones, he could only brace himself and accept:
"Alright. For you, and for my own future considerations, I am willing to knock down The Slaying King Star when one day I have the power to do so, for Your Majesty."
Upon hearing these words filled with Arrogance, all five heads of Tiamat laughed together:
"Oh, truly fitting for the child of my most beloved follower, actually wanting to knock down The Slaying King Star for me. Do you hear that, Pafila? His tone is just like yours was back then, hahaha."
Just as David stood there in shock, that voice, all too familiar to him, suddenly rang out of nowhere:
"You're despicable! You ramble on with so much nonsense! Yet you never mention that the true form of the Dragon Mad Lock is an avatar of an Elf god. Moreover, it's a deity with medium divine power. Aren't you just waiting to see this kind of farce unfold? Then you act like a doting mother, coaxing and deceiving us—your honest and simple dragon whelps—into working for you without any reward?"
The five dragon heads of Tiamat, which had been proud, majestic, mysterious, crafty, or indifferent, all showed a somewhat troubled expression simultaneously:
"Oh, Pafila, my dearest child, you've just ascended to godhood and you're already calling me base... Next time you decide to curse, could you perhaps not do it in front of the other dragons? It doesn't sound good when it gets out."
But Pafila, this newly-ascended powerful god, was even more vigorous in her cursing:
"Go to hell! I, Pafila, am not your demigod, what's wrong with cursing you? Shouldn't I curse you? Next time you dare try to seduce my son, I'm not just going to curse you, I'll beat you up—believe it or not?"
"I did nothing at all!"
Tiamat then simultaneously denied any wrongdoing with all her heads before sighing and, with an expression that said 'don't pick up bad habits from your mother,' turned toward David who was completely dumbfounded by the scene:
"It was nothing but a slight amplification of David Uthos's desire for me."
Before she could finish speaking, Tiamat collectively ducked. A hole, seemingly blasted spontaneously, appeared in the space above Evil Scale Fortress. Through it tumbled Red Dragon Lizrite, Drow Hiatt, Alfonse, Viola, and the barbarian Rosinde—all of whom David himself had 'sent off' on the Blood War battlefield.
Then, Dragon Mother Pafila's voice, sounding like thunder, quickly faded away:
"David Uthos, stop sending dragons over next time! I'm in a fight here and don't have the time to babysit your little girlfriends."
"And one more thing! Don't mess with Tiamat, that old lady. She's lived through more time than all the stars you've seen; you can't outplay her!"
David, looking at his 'well-preserved' followers and kin, listened to his mother's parting words, relieved yet somewhat aggrieved.
When she had ascended, she had confidently stated she would protect him 'up in heaven,' but now she was complaining about him being too troublesome...
And as for provoking a Chromatic Dragon Queen, where would he get the courage for that!
It was clearly she who had seduced him...
Before David could finish his protest, the Chromatic Dragon Queen, as if nothing had happened, swept her tail and ushered the five 'unconscious' kin and followers out of her great hall like clearing a chessboard, likely throwing them into the Chromatic Palace he had seen before. She then returned to looking at David with dignity and pride:
"As you've heard, The Slaying King Star, or rather, the Dragon Mad Lock, was originally constructed and guarded by the Moon Elf goddess Sahani herself."
"Now, are you still willing to slay a deity for my sake and strike down that star to break the shackle set on all of us dragons, becoming the pride in the palm of my hand, Tiamat?"
Muddled by Dragon Mother's meddling, and under the influence of Dragon Mother Pafila, what little reverence David had for the Chromatic Dragon Queen instantly dissipated. He smacked his lips and spread his claws helplessly:
"I don't have that ability. You might want to find someone more capable..."
"No, only you have the power to approach that Slaying King Star and maintain your sanity under the influence of Dragon Mad Lock and leave a mark on that 'comet'."
"A mark? But who could break a Mystlock personally constructed by an Elf goddess before it is discovered and intercepted by the gods of the Elves?" David finally understood what Her Majesty was planning.
"Everything has its opposite; in fact, you've already thought of who it could be, haven't you? My child." The most cunning and shrewd green dragon head winked at David.
And that appearance, as if playing with all things in the palm of her hand, juxtaposed with the black dragon head beside her, brought to David's mind a being he had once encountered in the Gloomy Region. His eyes widened instantly, and he blurted out:
"Rose!?"
The moment he exclaimed the divine name, David quickly used his tail to stuff his own mouth shut.
Trusting such a vital and dangerous plan to the infamously notorious Spider Goddess Rose?!
Could it be that Tiamat's head was really bashed into malfunction by Dragon Mother Pafila?
