The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases

Chapter 186: Styx River Diverted_2

Right... David Uthos's mother has already ascended to godhood. So, as long as one's soul isn't captured and imprisoned by demons, theoretically, they could go directly to Lord Crimson Calamity via the Pillar of Faith, couldn't they!

Although not the brightest, this Red Dragon was always steadfast and unyielding in executing David's will at the first instance.

"Lady Pafila... save me..."

CRACK.

The next second, Red Dragon Lizrite's head was twisted off by David's own claw amid the astonished and bewildered gazes of the other dragons, and then he kicked her body directly toward an incoming demon.

Can this... this work?

The Black Dragon sister Viola was completely dumbfounded, not noticing any movement at all. Then, blood gushed from her mouth like a waterfall.

Her luck was incredibly bad.

The defensive magic David had cast on her had just expired when a Demon Lord, miles away, crushed her heart from afar.

"Viola!!!" Alfonse, one of the few Chromatic Dragons who valued family bonds, was beside himself with rage.

This time, she had no time for questions. She feared her soul being taken and toyed with by a Demon Lord far more than 'death' itself.

Unable to speak, she nodded resolutely toward David, and he twisted her head off like pinching off a chive.

Before long, her brother Alfonse also perished.

The siblings died so quickly one after another that David even wondered if Alfonse, the Black Dragon brother, had done it on purpose, perhaps wanting to enact some otherworldly version of a dark Black Dragon sibling bond.

Then it was the Barbarian Rosinde and the Drow Hiatt who fell in quick succession.

In the most treacherous blood wars of the Multiverse, hoping for no casualties was practically a fairy tale. This was especially true when they had been battling continuously for nearly a month and were all at the end of their tether, where a single moment of negligence could mean immediate decapitation.

It was only David, relying on the Eye of Greed, who could foresee some situations.

But sometimes, even when one clearly saw the danger, it couldn't be completely avoided. More often, one could only choose the lesser of two evils.

For instance, he resorted to taking the lives of his own retainers and keeping their heads. He hoped their souls, residing in Valhalla (access to which his mother Pafila had secured), might be resurrected later using Resurrection Techniques.

But it was his mother's first time as a goddess, and she was still on the War God's battlefield. David, experiencing being the son of a new god for the first time, didn't know if this plan would work. Therefore, unwilling to take any chances, he went against his dragon father's wishes and directly stuffed his dragon sister Tania into the Soul Furnace.

Leaving only her head and two claws, she was positioned beneath David, resembling a cat's head, frantically unleashing magical attacks.

This was a treatment only Tania could enjoy; transformed by David's Jealousy, she could withstand the furnace's scorching heat.

As for his dragon father? There was no room in the small furnace for two dragons. It wasn't a big deal to send him to meet their mother, Pafila. Since he was already a follower of their mother, given their bond, it was unlikely he would fail.

They all realized that upon successfully killing demons, a steady flow of Magic Power and another ineffable force would surge into their bodies. This replenished their drained and exhausted forms, allowing them to squeeze out a bit more strength and magic even in extreme situations.

It was precisely this power, like a nourishing rain that arrived during desperate times, that had kept them going until now.

But by that day, aside from David—who could still carve through the weakest parts of the battlefield like a perpetual motion machine, effortlessly mowing down foes—only a few remained. His heavily injured dragon father, Attilicia, was there. So was the Green Dragon Shadila, who always seemed to turn danger into safety as if by divine intervention. His dragon sister Tania, the best-protected beneath him, was also present. The Succubus Yolanda, the most resourceful and beguiling of the Dragonkin, and the lucky White Dragon Mofei completed the group.

In fact, all the dragons, including David, found it inconceivable that this White Dragon had survived until now.

The White Dragon's luck was astonishing. Despite navigating the blood war for nearly a month, and even after they had left the most dangerous center of the battlefield, he had somehow only ended up with a smashed tail. This was in stark contrast to the other dragons, who had repeatedly skirted the edge of death. Can you believe it?

He had been hit by some unknown, vicious spell. The fate of his still-developing testicles was uncertain, and he had been wailing so much that his voice, not yet deepened by puberty, had grown hoarse from screaming, "Boss, just kill me, I can't take it anymore."

David, however, turned a deaf ear. At this point, even he couldn't help but start believing in metaphysics, thinking that keeping this lucky White Dragon around might indeed bring some good fortune.

No one knew when they would be able to break through this seemingly endless battlefield, nor did they know where David was taking them. An indescribable sense of sorrow permeated the group.

They had responded to the Chromatic Dragon Queen's call to arms for the planar wars, hoping to gain some benefits in advance. They never expected to be caught in the most brutal and terrifying of blood battles before even reaching the Evil Scale Fortress.

Were they going to die here? Perhaps their souls had simply grown numb from over twenty days and nights of continuous, relentless fighting.

They seemed to see the vast, ocean-like Styx River again... Was Death beckoning to them?

But Dragon Father was the first to snap out of it. They were in Barto Hell, after all! With his excellent vision, he could even see Barban Demons on the murky waters of the Styx River. They poled their seemingly fragile Shell Ships, numbly harvesting Soul Shells.
